Overview

About the property

Great Location, hospitality and fun times for all.

This former convent served the Catholic church next door and is named St Josephs. Built around 1918 this building includes four apartment style units. The St Blaise Suite is one of two units upstairs. Each of which feature two bedrooms, kitchen, large living room area, dinning table and balcony seating. We believe it is the little touches that count and only use the very finest linen thread count sheets we can find. Enjoy touring Old Bisbee by day and then come home and relax before heading back out for dinner and fun times.

The St. Blaise Suite now has a Queen size sleeper couch with extra bedding.

We also have three other apartments at St. Joseph's along with Casita Sonora (2 bed 2 bath house with private parking) and the Bisbee Brew House (2 bed 1 bath with great views)

Bisbee Brew House iD# 576281 Casita Sonora ID# 668219

Bisbee is a walking town and many homes can only be reached by walking up flights of stairs. St. Joseph's however is located on a public street so this is not the case. However, like many of the homes in old Bisbee there is no private parking available. Your parking options would be to park on the public street or in one of the many public parking areas throughout Bisbee. Most guests find that once they are settled in that they have no need or desire to spend time with their vehicle.

Please feel free to call me if you have any questions about St. Joseph's or Bisbee in general.

Why Joseph Lewis chose Tucson & Southern Arizona

When I had an opportunity to purchase a former convent with my same name I had to jump at the opportunity.

Clean comfortable, everything worked, very enjoyable.

There were nine of us, playing poker for the weekend. We expected that one of our more hyper-critical members would have complaints, e.g., difficult to find, parking, hills, etc. But no. Verdict was unanimous. It was perfect for us.

Choose your suite wisely

  • 3 of 5

Our family of 11 shared two apartment suites right next to each other. We wanted the experience of Bisbee as a group and not independent hotel rooms. Online, St. Joseph's was a great option for us - near the shops and restaurants. The directions were misleading as it did not indicate Street or Avenue and there are both in Bisbee. We relied on map quest and went to the street....wrong choice. One suite was well maintained, had instructions about wifi, furnaces in the bedrooms and a blow up mattress that worked. The other suite did not. The bedrooms were freezing, as there was only a furnace in the living room, the blow up mattress had a major hole in it, and when the replacement mattress was delivered I unrolled it only to find mouse droppings in it. One bedroom room had a cobweb the size of a dinner plate and there were a dozen dead bugs on the bathroom floor. It was like one suite was prepped for visitors and one was not. And since I was the one footing the bill, I was not impressed. But...on the bright side, the ambiance, location and personality/charm of the place was very memorable and everyone in the family enjoyed it.

Owner's Response: Obviously everyone in the hospitality business would love only five star reviews but we learn from those guests who have issues. 1. We now include two air mattresses for each unit. One as a backup. We prefer air mattresses over fold out couches in that they are much more comfortable. Unfortunately when the little ones use it as a bouncy house and we are not told problems such as the hole arise. 2. Heating: This former convent dates back to the early 19th century and we are continuously updating the suites. We will be installing separate furnaces for each bedroom within the next week. 3. Cleaning: We are going over our cleaning procedures with our staff. Cobwebs are unacceptable for us as owners who often stay at St. Josephs as well.

clean and comfortable accommodations.

  • 4 of 5

It was our first time visiting Bisbee and we had a great stay in the St Blaise suite. The balcony had a really nice view and the location was perfect! within walking distance of everything. Joseph the owner was very helpful and was happy to answer questions for us when we arrived. I would recommend this property to others.

I can't remember when the last time we stayed in a former convent

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I love Bisbee and like to try out new places when we go. From talking to the owner (Joseph) we learned that St. Josephs was an old convent that served the former catholic church next door. When we arrived there was a bottle of Castle Rock wine waiting for us. What many don't know is that there is a famous rock formation in Bisbee named Castle Rock.

We had a great stay and only wish we had spent more time. We will be returning soon to Bisbee and St. Josephs and think we would like to stay in the St. Valentines Suite next time.
