Great house, neighborhood & service.

  • 5 of 5

This was our 1st non-hotel experience and we are very pleased. We travel a lot and are pretty picky. The house is very nice, comfortable, has a great deck, and we loved the neighborhood. The entry/exit procedure easy & flawless. Will definitely stay here on our next trip to Boston!

Convenient location

  • 4 of 5

Really more like 3.5 stars, but ultimately would stay there again. A perfect size and location for our family with 3 kids doing college tours. House is a block from the Linear trail park- which is a wonderful resource for biking/jogging and about 10-15 min walking distance (along the trail) to T stop in Davis Square Red Line. Lots of good restaurants around there. Pretty close as well to Tufts University main campus.

Visitor parking permit was great as we did have a rental car. For coordinating all our college visits and other activities, having a car was a very helpful luxury, but certainly not necessary and can be a liability.

House itself was spacious enough and comfortable for sleeping arrangements with wife and I in master and all 3 kids in 2nd bedroom (full size bed and bunk bed). It was exceptionally hot when we were visiting (80-90 degrees in late September!) so the bedrooms were pretty stifling, especially 2nd bedroom- the window AC unit is at floor level, so never really cools the room even with fan running. Also a bit annoying is that upstairs bathroom near bedrooms has a tub with no shower. Downstairs bathroom has the shower- with not so great water pressure. The bed sheets all need to be changed out.

On the positive side, for an older house, it was well appointed and everything was generally well maintained and clean. Kitchen was neat and well resourced (but we never cooked). Towels were good. Beds/mattresses were comfortable.

Again, on the whole, I have no regrets for having stayed there and would stay again in the future.

Excellent location, comfortable stay

  • 4 of 5

We were four staying here - my husband and two teen kids. It is a very convenient location .Massachusetts Ave is 2 blocks away, and the Red Line (Davis)is a pleasant 8 min. walk. Both bedrooms and a bath upstairs. The second bedroom has two sets of beds so the two kids could stay in the same room. Master bedroom has LOTS of closet space. The first floor is lovely with a nice updated, well equipped kitchen open to the dining room and both the family and living room. The family room looks out onto a deck that we definitely made use of. However, there were only two chairs on the deck. Two more would have been perfect. There is a full bathroom on the first floor. The shower is in the first floor bathroom, which actually wasn't as inconvenient as we thought it would be. There are a few small items, which if fixed would make my review 5 stars instead of 4, but we would definitely stay here again the next time we are in Cambridge.

Owner's Response: More chairs on the deck is a good idea. We contacted Laurel to find our her other suggestions. Marie

Nice quaint house in safe neighbourhood!

  • 5 of 5

The house itself is very charming with enough room for a larger family and in a safe neighbourhood. We went out at night with no concerns for our safety. Parking with the permit provided was easy, although we got towed for being in a street cleaning area on one day. It would be nice if we were warned about the street cleaning. House was very clean and comfortable. It was very hot and muggy the whole week that we were in Boston and the house upon arrival was the same but the air conditioners in the windows cool off the house very quickly. The house is located pretty close to anything you would want to see in Boston. One day we drove in and the others we just took an uber. It was about $15 by Uber but parking in Boston is scarce and very expensive. Up to $50 in some spots. You could also take transit if you wish to save money which is close by and operates very well according to locals.

We would not hesitate to stay at the rental again and thanks to the owners for keeping it well maintained.

Owner's Response: We are happy to hear about Jon's visit. We do make it quite clear of towing in the laminated welcome letter left in the apartment next to the parking permit. We are so sorry it was missed. "Your car needs to be moved every 24 hours and is good for only 3 days. The parking permit is NOT valid for other areas of Cambridge. Please read the street signs and obey them so you will not be tagged or towed. I or the agency are not responsible for any towing, parking violations, loss, theft, or damage to your vehicle(s) or their contents during your stay. Please do not block the driveway. It is a traffic violation. When a snow emergency is declared all streets signed “No Parking during a snow emergency” will be togged or towed. See city lots below. '

Family vacation in Boston

  • 4 of 5

We had an enjoyable stay in this rental. It was an 8 minute walk to the Davis Square T station and restaurants. We also walked to Tufts University for one of our many college tours. The accommodations were wonderful and centrally located for all we wanted to do. The neighborhood was safe and we felt comfortable walking around in a big city that didn't 'feel' so big!
