A wonderful week!!
We had a wonderful time staying in Ivy Cottage. The cottage is very near to where the ferry comes in and the view from the house over the water is fabulous. Inverie is a lovely little place - everyone is so helpful. Lots of walks from the house. One day we used the taxi to take us further and
Great location next to the Inverie pier which suited our group of walking friends well. Nicely decorated rooms - sizes worked well for us. We found the dining room a bit redundant as it’s the other side of the cottage from the kitchen and we preferred to eat at the table in the front with Loch view. Very useful to have washing machine as we’d taken limited things with us. The cottage info was very thorough. Takes a bit more planning with food but we made use of the Knoydart Foundation shop and the Kilchoan estate shop. Maggie was very quick to remedy when we found ourselves short of dishwashing equipment and wine glasses. We’d highly recommend booking at The Lookout for dinner. Bonus of being accompanied by dolphins on our return journey to Mallaig.
Wonderful home in stunning surroundings
We found Ivy Cottage to be a very comfortable base for our stay in Inverie. We came by train from Glasgow through gorgeous scenery and then a short ferry trip brought us to Inverie Pier. The Cottage is the first house as you walk up from the pier. We took many walks out from the cottage and loved every minute of our stay, so thank you everything was perfect.
Understated beauty, all the comforts of home
I cannot day enough good things about the Ivy Cottage. The furnishings were well appointed and comfortable. The beds were like clouds (very important to me) and it was immaculate.
Perfect location with lovely views
This is a wonderful cottage. It is very close to the Inverie pier, the Old Forge, and the Tea Room. It has a washer and dryer along with plenty of bedrooms. There are 3 bathrooms, two with showers and one with a tub. The cottage was clean and very comfortable. I highly recommend it!
Such an amazing place. Fabulous view
Three of us oldies stayed for two glorious weeks with the sun shining every day and just loved it. The youngest, in his sixties, climbed the hills most days while we in our seventies early eighties strolled the nutshell walk every other day and headed in the opposite direction other days. Always hoping to find an otter. But each walk revealed new delights each time. Ridley our two year old miniature labradoodle had a great time although we had to keep an eye out for him trespassing into the next garden as there was no fence. But he soon understood to keep out and had a ball with most of the other people in Inverie. Very friendly community and loads of dog lovers. We were well looked after by Tony who met us from the ferry and helped us back again. We shopped in the farm shop, about a twenty minute walk and ate in most nights watching the ever changing view. Great place wonderful holiday. Thank you.
Please note that access to Knoydart is only accessible by the Inverie Ferry Service. Ferries run several sailings a day, seven days a week and all sailings tie in with trains times. Ivy Cottage will be ready for you from 3pm on date of arrival which ties in with the 2.15pm sailing. We meet you on arrival with a vehicle to assist with your luggage and groceries. It’s only a 2 minute walk to the property, the first cottage on your left after a right turn from the pier. Please book your ferry in plenty of time before your stay and advise us of your time so we can arrange for you to be met in Inverie. (Knoydart) The ferry service is

Off course sometimes the best thing to do is to enjoy the shoreline, picking shells or crabbing. Looking for treasure in amongst the craggy rock pools, building castles or just plain old paddling in the clear shallow and safe waters.
