This was our first experience using VRBO and it worked out perfectly. After our rental in Kapoho by the tide pools was cancelled due to the volcano, we found this perfect house. Just enough to be out of the way of the Kona traffic but not too far from the the sights in the south, west or north side of the island. Beautiful new house with new appliances, furniture and a very comfortable King bed. We enjoyed mornings cooking breakfast and sitting on the wrap around deck. Will definitely stay here again!
Awesome Vacation Lodging
We loved this place. Nice to be removed from the hustle and bustle of Kona. Close enough to Kona or Captain Cook for groceries and restaurants. The house has a lanai with perfect ocean viewing, set on a hill, on a small coffee plantation. Hard to compare to other places, it's so unique. We really appreciated the house was set far away from the road and any neighbors. The house is well appointed (new, clean, available) with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We were here during the volcano eruption and had limited access to Volcano National Park. The beaches were great- some close and some a drive. We definitely plan to come back to the Big Island and when we do we'd definitely want to stay here!
If you are looking for a relaxing and peaceful stay then look no farther.
This property is far enough away from the city to be peaceful and close enough to drive to Kailua at anytime. The best beaches on the island for snorkeling and diving are just minutes away. The host Gill is amazingly professional and hospitable. The home has everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal. You will be greeted daily by an Abundants of wildlife, including but not limited wild turkey, Pheasant, wild boar and So many other tropical birds I couldn’t begin to list. I will definitely be back again in the future!
Great vacation - very welcoming and comfortable
This house meant our expectations in every way. As mentioned in other reviews it was very clean and fully supplied with everything you would need. My favorite time of day was sitting out on the deck at 6:00 a.m., enjoying the ocean view, drinking a wonderful cup of coffee supplied by Gill and watching and listening to the pheasants, turkeys, chickens and all the other birds on the property. It was also a treat to watch the momma, daddy and baby pigs run across the property. Gill also supplied us with a great BBQ so we could BBQ our evening meals. Thank you Gill for providing us with such a welcoming "home away from home".
better than the photos, emaculate
It's all been said by other guests
This is a wonderful place to stay for couples who want privacy and to be away from the mega-resorts. It's south of Kailua-Kona in a rather rural area, close to a variety of options for interesting hikes, which is what we enjoy doing. It looks like the house was designed by an architect and has wonderful attention to the use of space and detail. The house is decorated in a Japanese aesthetic which is calm and peaceful, but with all the necessary appliances and furnishings for an extremely comfortable stay. Gill was super-responsive and flexible, and we could not have enjoyed our visit more.
Puuhonua o Honaunau (City of Refuge) National Park and Painted Church are about 20 minutes to the north. Kailua-Kona offers shopping, dining, and activities. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is an hour-and-a-half drive going south. Coffee farm tour available upon request.
