The village of Lauzun and the surrounding area:
The perfect base for you to explore this beautiful area of France. However, if you want to stay put and relax, Lauzun offers all the amenities to meet your needs to include two restaurants, a well stocked supermarket, a bar, patisserie, butcher, pharmacy, post office, bank and a hairdresser, all of which are on the doorstep.
The village is steeped in history and is architecturally interesting with 12th and 13th century buildings. The first thing that stirs your imagination when you arrive is the impressive Château which rises above the town. Built in the 14th century, the Château is well worth visiting and is just a short stroll away from Fleur de Lys House.
The local church is also worth a visit, with its bells calling out over the town each day. Another short stroll takes you to the picturesque lake which is ideal for an alfresco lunch.
Every Saturday morning, Lauzun hosts a market selling local produce, cheese, wine, fruit and veg, prunes and cider. All you have to do is step out the front door and there it is.
During the summer months Lauzun really comes alive with the Table Gourmande (a street party with local foods and music) takes place every Saturday evening during July and August.
This beautiful medieval village is not only surrounded by breath taking scenery, with many chateaux and castles, vineyards and leisure activities like tennis, golf, horse riding, kayaking and canoeing.
