This quiet, newly decorated and refurbished one bedroom apartment is situated on the Left Bank in the heart of the historic Latin Quarter. Located between the majestic domed Panthéon where you can visit the tombs of many great writers of France, and the Boulevard Saint Germain, the apartment is an easy walk to Notre Dame, the Sorbonne, Ile St. Louis and the Luxembourg Gardens. The surrounding area is lively and is known for its restaurants. The nearby outdoor market at Place Maubert, held two times a week, is particularly colourful with mounds of fruit and vegetables and dazzling arrays of fresh flowers. There are several fine food, wine shops, traiteurs (delicious take-out food shops) and a fromagerie (specialist cheese shop) on Place Maubert. The other nearby outdoor market is the very famous Moufettard market, held at least 4 times a week, always brimming with people, flowers, wonderful produce, and music.
The second floor apartment is in impeccable condition and is located in a newly restored 16th century building which has a beamed entry hall, a beautiful cobblestone courtyard planted with boxwood and an antique staircase constructed of stone and centuries old wooden beams. The building is located on a quiet cobblestone street which is graced by antique lanterns and old buildings enhanced by ivy, geraniums and other plantings. During the recent excavation of the building’s courtyard the remains of ancient Roman baths were discovered.
The apartment includes an entry hall, a living room with exposed 16th century beams, a small bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom. Two sets of windows in the living room open onto the quiet pedestrian street. This colourful room has country French terra cotta tiled floors, a very comfortable sofa bed for two people, Louis XVI style armchairs and a dining table and chairs. The bedroom has a queen-size bed and looks down upon the greenery of the quiet inner courtyard.
The small but handsome new kitchen boasts an exposed 16th century stone wall and is equipped with dark green cabinets with beech counter tops, a refrigerator/freezer, a four burner electric range, a small oven and dishwasher, a washer, a microwave and a stainless steel sink. The new bathroom has a wash basin, a glass-enclosed shower, a toilet and a large heated towel rail. There is a flat-screen tv with dvd player, free cable, a radio cassette/CD player, wireless internet and telephone with voice mail. The wall mounted electric heating system is individually controlled and all windows are double glazed. All linens, towels, dinnerware, and pots and pans are provided. Maid service is available upon request.
This location is second to none and the relaxing ambiance of the apartment provides a wonderful base from which to explore the treasures of Paris.
We very much enjoyed this cozy apartment in the fabulous location. There is so much to see in terms of landmarks and entertainment, great cafes everywhere and fantastic hub for transportation. The apartment is a nice refuge during all our excursions to freshen up or come back to each evening. It's nice to have a kitchen and laundry if needed. I have stayed in various parts of the city but the Latin Quarter with the Jardin du Luxembourg in the "backyard" of this apartment and Pantheon just up the street will be my go to in the future.
Cozy, well stocked apartment - perfect for a couple. We love the location on a pedestrian only street- very quiet! Open market just down the street and close to Metro.
This is our second stay and we felt very comfortable and safe behind it's vault-like front door! The neighborhood is very historic and right next to the University of Paris.
The American owner is very easy to deal with and a big plus is the property manager who met us on arrival and was only a couple of blocks away to help in any way needed.
The only downside is the winding staircase up to the third floor but we managed and we are in our 60's! This apartment is a good choice for a week's stay and you want to live like a Parisian!!
We really enjoyed our one-week stay in Mary's apartment and she was a pleasure to deal with. We were met my Mary's local manager who was very helpful in providing information about the apartment and the local area. The location was perfect--in the Latin Quarter, close to markets, restaurants, parks, attractions and the metro. In fact there are two nice restaurants right outside the door. While somewhat small (cozy), the apartment is charming and has everything one needs for a week stay. Having the bath off the hall vice in the bedroom was an added bonus for when we had guests spend the night. The bed was comfortable and, according to our guests, so was the sofa bed. The spiral stone staircase was a bit of a challenge since one of our party was on crutches. The only downside was several days of jack-hammering as the city tore up the street outside the apartment to bury new utility lines. The good news is that the project is complete and future guests won't have that concern. We have been to Paris at least a dozen times but have always stayed in hotels. Never again! Having a whole apartment in the heart of the Latin Quarter for less than the price of a modest hotel room is certainly the way to go.
This was my first time out of the country, and it was an amazing experience. The location was perfect for walking, site seeing, eating, and enjoying yourself. I highly recommend this space, and hopefully I will be back. There is a pull out couch, and a bedroom that is very cozy. It was great to have a kitchen and laundry in the unit. Once again, the location was absolutely perfect and the environment was friendly and quaint.
It was our first visit to Paris and we had a very enjoyable stay. The Latin Quarter is a great location and this apartment is on a nice pedestrian street. It was a 5-6 minute walk to Notre Dame and to the metro/RER station. We took the owners suggestions for some local restaurants, which turned out to be very good, and we found more on our own. The bed was very comfortable (although the pillows could stand to be refreshed) nice firm mattress. Having the availability of a kitchen and laundry facilities was a real plus. The concierge was very helpful too.
We love this apartment! This was our second visit and we hope to return soon. The cozy, comfortable space worked well for three of us. The sofa bed was extremely comfortable for our teenage grandson. We love the location and walked to many attractions including Luxembourg Gardens. The Latin Quarter is our location of choice in Paris with all the cafes and attractions of the left-bank.
