Excellent lake property. We enjoyed our stay greatly. Ann the owner and neighbors were very friendly

Property was close to the Fork were our activities were held so perfect location. A neighbor recommended a restaurant called Mama Noi’s and we had the best fried rice we’ve ever eaten! If we are traveling in the area again we’d love to rent it again.

Peaceful Cottage on the Lake

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay so much, we hated to leave. The home is clean and very lovely. It was great having the dock and enjoyed some fishing. The neighborhood is quiet and being back in the cove made it even better. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home, we'll be back :)

Cottage-Nice, BAD EXPERIENCE

  • 1 of 5

Cottage-nice. Bedrooms-small. Property-clean, well maintained.

Bad experience came about due to Hurricane Matthew. My husband and I were scheduled to spend 3 nights at the cottage. We arrived Friday at 4pm which is check-in time. Friday evening very enjoyable! Saturday morning-left to get breakfast.Returned at 11:30 am and discovered the power had went out. The rain and winds had set in. I walked across the street to ask a neighbor if anyone else was out of power. No one home. Neither my husband or myself have email on our phones so we contacted our daughter and had her send an email to Ann Walters, owner, to call us and let us know the power company so we could call and report issue. At 3 that afternoon we discovered we no longer had water. Walked over to another neighbor's house and found out that it is not uncommon for the power to go out in the area. She provided me with her phone # and the phone # of the second owner of the cottage to try and get some information. My husband and I decided that we needed to head out before dark because at that time we did not know when the power would be restored. We left at 6 pm and on the hour and 10 minute drive home I called second owner and left a detailed message asking her to contact me. The next morning I called the neighbor to see if the power had been restored. The power company stated that area was at the bottom of the list and no idea when power would be restored. Also she said a home close by had burnt down overnight due to a generator issue. That same day I sent Ann Walters a detailed email through the HomeAway website stating that due to no power or water we would not be able to finish out our vacation. No reponse from her. On Thursday, Oct. 13th I phoned Ms. Walters. She stated she had two concerns. 1 being because we had stayed 1 night she had already paid a cleaning fee and if we went back a 2nd cleaning fee would have to be discussed. 2, the people whose house burnt were wanting to use the cottage until their home was rebuilt. There was no empathy. Said she would contact me Monday, Oct. 17. No contact! Tuesday, Oct. 18 I again sent a detailed message to Ann stating I was willing to be pay a 2nd cleaning fee and stated dates I would like to be able to finish out the vacation. Asked her to contact me at her earliest convenience. No response!! I called her Sunday, Oct. 23-no answer,no voice mailbox set up! I now just want a refund of 2 nights and this be over!!
