About Shirley Warren

This candid photo is one of many family gatherings for our Christmas celebrations. It's an awesome destination, no matter the season. This property was purchased by our dad and a couple of his brothers before Hartwell Lake was created. They bought a total of 5 acres, but now only about 2.5ac remains in the Bolt family names. The log cabin was built in 1983 by our mom and 4 siblings. The 4 siblings live in S.C., GA.,TN and N.C. "The Lake" has become our homeplace and is an easy 2-3 hour drive for each of us. Our mom lived here until approximately 2006 when, at the age of 92, she moved in with a daughter. There are generations of cherished memories here and we hope you will make some for you and your friends and families as well.

Shirley Warren purchased this cabin in 1961

Why Shirley Warren chose Westminster

It's location for a relaxing get-away is terrific! In the boonies but not that far from Seneca, Clemson, Anderson,SC or Toccoa, Commerce, GA.

There's Tabor Ramp just around the bend for launching your water craft.

What makes this cabin unique

I have been to many beautiful areas of the world and only some private areas of Hawaii(a little more expensive!)offer the peace and calm of this lake property for me. In the quiet morning hours we often sit on the swing facing the open fields and woods(deer and wild turkeys visit often) in the winter time, enjoying our morning coffee. In the summer, we move to the other corner swing and watch the mirror-like smooth lake surface begin to ripple with the gentle breeze or a passing boat. One of our fisherman friends thought he'd be glued to the dock all weekend but once he sat on the porch, he was entranced and only visited the dock.

Wonderful time!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time here! So relaxing on the wrap around porch. The one thing I would change is more rocking chairs on the porch! A group of 9 women stayed here & we had plenty of room. The weather was perfect. Hope to stay here again. Shirley was a great hostess & very prompt to answer our questions.

Wonderful, my family and I had a great time for Thanksgiving, my 98 year old grandma loved the house and the view. I highly recommend this place plenty of seating, lots of towels, wash clothes. I loved the porch swing just looking out at the lake. I will definitely have to book again for another family event. Very peaceful and calming away from the commotion of city noise and phones ringing every second of the day. Thanks for sharing your space with my family.

Clean and comfortable home.

  • 4 of 5

Well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, large living room & a wonderful wrap around porch. Have your family prepared to be unplugged from their contacts ( a good thing ) no wifi and even our family from the area did not have cell phone service, we did have wonderful family time though!

We will definitely keep Westminster in mind, next time we vacation on Lake Hartwell.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for taking the time to share your thoughts! I am glad you enjoyed some quality family time. Cell service is getting better in that area and when it arrives, part of me will be sad that some of the "get-away" will be gone! Thanks!

Great place for a nice and quiet getaway on the lake for the weekend.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin had a nice and cozy feeling in it. The property was quiet and extremely well furnished. There was plenty of space for my group and the porch was great for sitting back and enjoying the area. The kitchen was well stocked and did everything we needed plus more. The beds were very comfortable. There were plenty of linens and towels. Overall, this place was a great place to spend the week or weekend with group of people. The cabin just had a very worn and cozy feel, like your grandparents house or something. The access to a boat dock is a great bonus for anybody who has a boat or wants to rent one. There was a boat ramp and rental near the cabin, but we never used it. I would highly recommend this place to anybody looking for a quiet weekend getaway on the lake.

Nice Vacation home.

  • 3 of 5

The house was beautiful and in a very serene setting. Slept 11 easily. Two downfalls- no wifi which is great if you're on vacation but not so great if you're trying to get in touch with loved ones who missed their flight for the wedding. Also shower stalls are a bit small. Besides these two things the rental was great.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback! I am sorry some folks had trouble getting to the wedding! The cell signals are getting better but I guess we're still too far out in the boonies for most providers. I hope you all had a good time together!

Great place to stay with a relaxing environment that feels like home. The only negative aspect is there is no cell service in this area nor is there a phone line or wi-fi. If a medical emergency or fire, there is no way to contact emergency services unless you drive approximately 3-4 miles down the road towards town to call from your cell phone.

Clemson University is only about 25 miles away. Outlet shopping is just south on I-85 in Commerce,GA. Our cousin's cabin is also available on VRBO next door if additional space is needed(VRBO # 515207).

The Chattooga River nearby, the river called crown jewel of the southeast, is undammed and remains the only river East of the Mississippi that hosts commercial rafting while bearing the national designation of a Wild and Scenic River. Your challenge, to raft the roaring Chattooga whitewater in Georgia and South Carolina where the movie "Deliverance" was filmed.
