About John Gisleson
I grew up in New Orleans and have always loved old houses. This is the first house my wife and I renovated, and we sought to maintain and accentuate the house's historic features. We love the Creole Cottage. Our family lives in Algiers Point only a short walk from the Creole Cottage.
John Gisleson purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why John Gisleson chose Algiers Point
Algiers Point is a true New Orleans neighborhood where the residents smile at you and ask how you are doing. They sit on their porches and speak to their neighbors who are walking the neighborhood. If you look down Vallette Street toward the river, you can see the ships gliding down the river above the levee. The Creole Cottage was in poor condition when we purchased it and needed a major renovation but the potential was clear. We loved the front porch, Greek Key motif on the front doors and pocket doors, high ceilings, fireplaces, and the wood floors.
What makes this Cottage unique
Get a drink and hear some great music at Old Point Bar. Play Pub Quiz at the Crown & Anchor English Pub. Visit the historic churches in the neighborhood. Have breakfast or lunch at Toute de Suite. Love the take-out from Appetite Repair Shop. This is your chance to live like a New Orleanian.
