The Ohia Tree House is located just outside of Pahoa, Big Island Hawaii on one acre of land lush with tropical foliage. It is just minutes from prime snorkeling locations, natural hot springs for swimming, surfing, and jungle hikes. The custom house is newly finished and features a custom, jetted jacuzzi tub in bathroom, a large loft space great for yoga or additional sleeping space, and a main bedroom with a king sized bed. The unique tree posts and spiral staircase add to the house's charm and beauty. There is also an outdoor shower available for those who like to shower under the stars! The modern kitchen is ready for you to use with a brand new 5 stove convection oven. Nearby Pahoa has some great restaurants and grocery stores. It is about 5 miles from the shore (Isaac Hale state Park, Ahalanui Hot Ponds). The owners live just down the street, so if there are any questions, they will be close by to be of assistance. To search location on map, the house is located on Hookupu St in Leilani Estates. It is 1250 sq foot house with one master bedroom. The upstairs loft serves as second bedroom. Loft has a double and twin bed.) Overall, this is a good location to use as your base camp for exploring the Big Island. 45 minutes from volcano, 25 minutes to hilo, 2 hours to kona, 7 minutes to surfing and snorkeling spots and a beautiful jungle road (look up Red Road).

Why Megan chose Pahoa
7 minutes from the famous Red Road, 10 minutes from the Hot Pond (the only natural hot spring swimming in Hawaii), beautiful lush area close to Pahoa town (10 minutes), which was recently made famous from it's "lava scare" in 2014-15, where the lava almost took out the town. There are fabulous restaurants and shops in this quirky little town. Close to snorkeling and surfing, jungle hikes, black sand beaches, and a beautiful drive down Red Road.

Very nice house, we enjoyed our visit! The decor and accommodations were outstanding.
Real Hawaii Experience
A very unique, secluded home with a very positive vibe. A big open space that promotes spending time together. We enjoyed spending time in nearby Pahoa (be sure to get some sourdough bread at the Tin Shack Bakery), the Makuu farmers market, Uncle Robert's night market, Lava Tree State Monument and Isaac Hale Beach Park.
ROMANCE AND INTIMACY
perfect place to go if you want to have a romantic getaway with someone special... I did not come out of the tree house for 2 days. Then we decided we needed to go site seeing too, but wonderful. it is beautiful. quiet. clean , and just over all has a fine charm to it. Megan was also very accommodating
AMAZING for ROMANCE
WOW. This is such a pretty place. The tree house itself is well kept and darling, while the surrounding area is beautiful. It is in the forest itself! My fiance, Chris, and I traveled here from California to meet up with his best friend for his wedding. We decided to go on our own little adventure after, and this is where we ended up! It was such a great experience there. Megan was wonderful and responded to everything very quickly. Apparently she was out of the country BUT SHE STILL made it a point to make sure we were being taken care of and everything was running smoothly. What a great owner! Anyways, the only thing I would say is that I have a fear of insects and since it is in the forest, I was anxious. But since the inside was very clean and scary bug free, It calmed my mind!
I would recommend this to everyone!
Did not stay
We were not able to find the property, and the physical address was not sent until after the check-in time. I did call the contact number for Megan, but got no response. We did not even stay at the property, are out a lot of money plus a nonrefundable damage fee, and had to drive back to Waikaloa in the dark. Not the best experience.
I am really sorry it did not work out! I apologize for not being responsive- at that time I was actually hospitalized in India with a bad illness so that's why I wasn't available. I did not realize that you did not have the address beforehand- I thought that VRBO automatically sends it before your check-in. The house is usually very easy to find so I'm wondering what we could have done to make it more easy for you. Once again I am very sorry.
Interesting house--literally in a rainforest! We came for only one night with two adults, and three kids-18, 18, and 13. The kids immediately set up Enos on the porch, and loved everything about being outside and exploring. No A/C, but we were never hot with open windows and fans. The kids took the loft and slept well, my husband and I had the downstairs bedroom with a super comfy bed. It rained off and on all night, and combined with jet lag tiredness, we never really noticed the coqui frogs. We took off one star due to water temps--kitchen sink couldn't keep hot water for washing dishes, and the shower was either HOT or COLD, no real happy medium. Overall, we loved the house, and would definitely stay again!
