About Jim & Jennifer Wickenden

Jim & Jennifer Wickenden grew up in Camden. They have lived around the world and returned home to raise their youngest son in Camden.

Jim & Jennifer Wickenden purchased this house in 2003

Why Jim & Jennifer Wickenden chose Camden

Camden is rated in the top 10 prettiest small towns in America by Forbes magazine, and Penobscot Bay is one of the premier sailing bays in the world. This home is ideally located only steps from the village, the harbor, the Camden Yacht Club, and Laite public beach, yet in a quiet neighborhood with a large, private back yard and garden and hot tub, which, in summer, is set delightfully cool (but you can adjust the temperature to your own preference).

What makes this house unique

This house is located in the historic Chestnut Street district, a beautiful neighborhood full of lovely, old, original Colonial style homes. Chestnut Street is considered the finest street in all of Camden, located away from busy Route 1, in a quiet, residential, green and leafy neighborhood, all while being only a couple of minutes walk into town or to the harbor. For boaters, we can offer a private slip on the harbor for up to 20feet, or a mooring in the harbor for up to 24 ft. A 13, 15 or 20 foot Boston Whaler can be hired separately for those with appropriate boating qualifications.

Huge family home with outstanding backyard and back porch

  • 5 of 5

We had more than enough room for our family of eight. Two were children. We spent a lot of time in the very large backyard, the kids enjoyed it daily. We used the hot tub and the well furnished back porch.

The weather wasn't the greatest while we were there, so it was nice to have lots more room for us to all hang out.

The kitchen was very well appointed. The kids also enjoyed the games and other children's items that they were allowed to play with. That was a huge plus. Great location if you like to walk into town. Great large TVs when it was raining. Was nice to have a second living room for adults when kids wanted to watch TV.

Also very close to Laite Beach where we walked several times. For this trip we tried to stay closer to Town. We did less car travel this trip and I think it was because the house was very enjoyable to stay in. We were not on top of each other. And again able to walk to town.

Over all, a great stay. I would rent here again!

Camden House

  • 5 of 5

Our family has stayed at many homes in Camden over the years and this house was one of our favorites. The decor of the home and the yard were both lovely. The kitchen was well stocked for any type of cooking we wanted to do and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed our week there and did not feel crowded with our large group.

We loved our stay at 86 Chestnut Street! There was plenty of space for our family and we all loved how close of a walk the house was to town! Jim and Jennifer were great hosts!

Could not have been more perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We hosted a large group for my husband's 50th bday in Camden. People came from all over the country - eleven stayed in the house and more attended the lobster bake we had in the backyard of this wonderful house. First, the house is designed for a group. Everyone can spread out or be together. Using the studio, eleven fit perfectly with everyone having their own bed and no one on pull-out couches. It is hard to tell from the pictures the scale of the backyard. It is enormous. We spent most of our time on the deck, which is perfect for entertaining. We had a birthday party, but I could see a wedding or other events here. The location of the house was also terrific - a block from the water and a small beach, a short walk into town with shops, cafes, and the beautiful harbor. There was plenty to do in the region, no matter one's tastes - hiking, great food, even a huge TV for those watching the Olympics. Last, the owner's hospitality exceeded expectations by answering our many questions and taking care of our every need. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in the mid-coast region. Thank you so much for everything!
