Just 4 miles away, the Mersey Ferry takes visitors into the heart of vibrant Liverpool’s Albert Dock, setting for the Beatles Story, Tate Gallery and Maritime Museum. Locally, the unique and beautiful model village of Port Sunlight is fascinating with its fantastic architecture, and the beautiful Cheshire landscape is dotted with great houses and gardens. Snowdonia and Chester’s garden zoo make good day trips. There are good public transport links.
Sea fishing is 7 miles away and the nearest Pub 100 meters .

Please note: The property is on an uneven, narrow un-adopted road that leads to the entrance.
There is no parking at the property - the nearest on-road parking is 50 metres away.
Although loading and unloading can be done at the door you are expected to fit in with neighbours who do have parking rights. No children under 5 and because of the hot-tub under 18s need to be supervised at all times.
There is a sunken step at the top of the staircase - guests need to understand the need for care on stairs
There is a refundable security deposit of £100
Letting starts at 16.00 hrs on day of arrival and ends at 10.00 hrs on day of departure.
Late departure can causes problems as cleaners arrive at 10.00 hrs. This and hot-tub issues (filters blocking with makeup etc) cause additional expenses and are the commonest cause of non-refund of deposit.
CURRENT DIRECTIONS AND ARRIVAL DETAILS
Guests are requested to arrive after 4pm on the day of arrival, and to vacate before 10am on the day of departure, unless otherwise arranged with the owner.
From M53 Junction 4 take the B5115 towards Birkenhead for approx 3 miles.
At traffic lights, straight on Storeton Rd; sign-post to Oxton –
(Hughes lane at brow of steep hill; Right of Storeton Rd just before Queens Pub).
To drive to Sophie’s retreat turn right into Birch Rd then 1st left into Parr’s Rd left at end onto Hughes Lane. Sophie’s Retreat (No 18) is 100 yards on the right.
You can unload at the door, however due to the narrow lane, on road parking is only available on Storeton Road (B5151) or Birch Road.
This is quiet secluded cottage and we do not allow parties or events at Sophie's Retreat.
