Why Brenda Glasgow chose East

THIS PROPERTY IS ONE OF A KIND! I think the thing that makes this property stand out from others is that it is a few feet from Doe Creek and Literally 2 minutes from Watauga Lake you could bring your boat and put it in at the local boat ramp just 2 miles from the property. Doe Creek is definitely one of the most beautiful creeks you could imagine. This property is literally Central to so many wonderful things to see and do. You can walk out the door and stroll across the street for a cold draft beer or go down a few steps and start fishing or playing in Doe Creeks beautiful waters. You can sit in the porch swing on the enormous out door deck that hangs over Doe Creek and just enjoy or even go to sleep listening to the beautifuly peaceful water of Doe Creek. You can bring your boat or jet ski's and put them in Watauga Lake at a beautiful public boat ramp just 2 miles away. Appalachian Trail is just fifteen minutes away if hiking is your pleasure. Bring your ATV's and spend the day at Doe Mountain ATV Park just 10 minutes away. Just 5 minutes away is the always beautiful Watauga Lake winery where you can enjoy the tasting room and even bring some wine back to the Creek with you. Just 15 minutes away is a little treasure that Mountain City has to offer in the form of SUBA'S restaraunt. This little gem is locally owned and operated by Rich & Luanne Suba. Luanne is a Pastry Chef and Rich is a master chef in his own right. Subas is easily the best restaraunt in the area if not the state of Tennessee. You can choose to stay at Creekside Haven and just enjoy what is literally at arms length or choose from the many things Johnson County Tennessee has to offer.

Great property on the water!

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased with our weekend getaway choice. This place is wonderful. Cozy and very clean. We loved the location of the water, right behind the place where we enjoyed our AM coffee. Very pleased and hope to return soon so we can enjoy more of what is there. Perfect fishing location for the fly fisherman. Thank you!

GREAT LOCATION/WELL MAINTAINED

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The property is very well kept, and the location was terrific for the Watauga Lake triathlon, which is why we were up there. Everything was perfect when we arrived, and there were very clear instructions for how to work the TV, etc., which is always appreciated. The master bed was particularly comfortable, and the kitchen is well stocked. There is also a book with great suggestions for restaurants, etc. The only reason my review is not 5 stars is that the only two windows that open are the two in the kitchen. We chose this place because it was on a gorgeous rushing creek, and wanted to be able to open the windows and hear it. But honestly, that's a minor thing - we would return, but thought to note that for anyone who absolutely has to have fresh mountain air at night.

Very nice view but not much else

  • 2 of 5

Arrived to this "cabin" with no power. Power came back on after a few. But when I say "cabin" I mean modular home devided to make 3 very nice motel rooms. Very nicely appointed but TV is useless with no antenna or cable. The paper thin walls will have you up all night if the other rooms are rented.

My biggest pet peeve wasn't paying a cleaning fee. It was the "honey do list" the owners leave telling you to do your own cleaning even AFTER you paid for THEM to clean.

Owner's Response: Wow, very surprised by this guests comments. I suggest that potential guests read earlier reviews. 1. He is correct regarding the power being out when he arrived. A storm is an act of "Nature". I cannot control that so I believe it is very unfair for him to even mention that. As he said the power came back on quickly. 2. He used the word "cabin". I never did. It clearly states on VRBO website that this unit is one of 3 and I clearly call it an apartment. I assure you it is much more than in his words "A VERY NICE HOTEL ROOM", which by the way is very positive. 3. Modular Home. This guests is apparently unaware of the meaning of Modular. Definition: Sectional prefabricated buildings. On the VRBO website it is clearly stated that this building began as a large restaurant. My husband and I completely gutted the place and turned it into 3 separate apartments, two of which have large lovely decks that literally hang over Doe Creek. The 3rd unit is occupied by a Medical Doctor year round. 4. "Paper Thin Walls" My husband and I went to great expense and detail to make sure the walls were not "paper thin". Each and every inside wall is lined with sound proofing board. 5. "HONEY DO LIST" I respect this mans opinion and he or anyone has the right to NOT LIFT A FINGER before they leave my units. We ask the following: PLEASE PUT TOWELS IN WASHING MACHINE AND TURN ON. PLEASE THROW DIRTY LINENS IN THE FLOOR AT FOOT OF BED. The first request is asked of our guest so that the cleaning lady has a head start on the laundry. She has only 3 hours to clean the entire unit for the next guest. It is very helpful time wise if the washer is already going. It is not demanded however. The request to remove linen is really for our guests. You would be surprised to learn the number of our guests who make the beds before they leave and it is a waste of their time as we launder everything on the bed after each guest. 5. No CABLE. This is correct. Cable is very expensive and this unit has never had it. We do have WIFI and APPLE TV with NETFLIX provided which means that one can watch just about ANYTHING one would like. The only thing this unit lacks is local TV. MOST PEOPLE DO NOT COME TO THE MOUNTAINS TO WATCH THE LOCAL NEWS. This guests was mad when he walked through the door. I do not know why and I think it is very UNFAIR of him to give me a 2 star rating when he admits himself that the Unit and the view was "VERY NICE". UNFAIR RATING

Such a great experience!

  • 5 of 5

This is our first time in the area but it won't be our last. The cabin was amazing. It was spotless and stocked with everything we needed, even stuff that we forgot to pack. The back porch was a peaceful spot for eating meals as we overlooked the creek and the hot tub was how we ended each night.

It was an easy drive to Watauga Lake and to the local restaurants.

My wife and I highly recommend this place!

Wonderful home in a relaxing location.

  • 5 of 5

This place is absolutely lovely. The home is in great shape, decorated warmly, and has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. The location is just gorgeous, as well. It had just stormed before arrival, so the creek behind the cabin was rushing - so beautiful to look at and the sound was fantastic to listen to! The surrounding area was perfect for daily hiking trips before coming back and relaxing in the hot-tub. Could not have had a better or more relaxing vacation. Thank you so much!
