Why Brenda Glasgow chose East

THIS PROPERTY IS ONE OF A KIND! I think the thing that makes this property stand out from others is that it is a few feet from Doe Creek and Literally 2 minutes from Watauga Lake you could bring your boat and put it in at the local boat ramp just 2 miles from the property. Doe Creek is definitely one of the most beautiful creeks you could imagine. This property is literally Central to so many wonderful things to see and do. You can walk out the door and stroll across the street for a cold draft beer or go down a few steps and start fishing or playing in Doe Creeks beautiful waters. You can sit in the porch swing on the enormous out door deck that hangs over Doe Creek and just enjoy or even go to sleep listening to the beautifuly peaceful water of Doe Creek. You can bring your boat or jet ski's and put them in Watauga Lake at a beautiful public boat ramp just 2 miles away. Appalachian Trail is just fifteen minutes away if hiking is your pleasure. Bring your ATV's and spend the day at Doe Mountain ATV Park just 10 minutes away. Just 5 minutes away is the always beautiful Watauga Lake winery where you can enjoy the tasting room and even bring some wine back to the Creek with you. Just 15 minutes away is a little treasure that Mountain City has to offer in the form of SUBA'S restaraunt. This little gem is locally owned and operated by Rich & Luanne Suba. Luanne is a Pastry Chef and Rich is a master chef in his own right. Subas is easily the best restaraunt in the area if not the state of Tennessee. You can choose to stay at Creekside Haven and just enjoy what is literally at arms length or choose from the many things Johnson County Tennessee has to offer.

Riverfront cabin

  • 3 of 5

It could of been better. We had a army of ants in the kitchen. Thank goodness they did have terro ant killer in the cabinet. They have no vaccumn cleaner, mop or decent broom to clean with. You will lose your cleaning deposit unless it's just as clean as it was when you arrived. Well without those cleaning products, no refund. The location was right on the highway. A little noisy from the traffic. The hot tub was was nice. Should of had a chlorine tablet in it when we arrived or a extra one to add. Beds were nice. Bathroom was nice. Deck was nice overlooking the river once again though ants everywhere. Would of loved to be able to open bedroom window so we could here it at night.

Owner's Response: WOW! I must say based on this guests comments to me during her stay I did not see this coming. I will systematically address each issue she had. 1.Ants-As pictured this house is located next to a creek with trees and nature all around it. With nature, water and trees also come ants. All you can do is spray for them and keep ALL AREAS clean of food and an residue of food or liquids. This situation can only be controlled by YOU. 2.Cleaning Supplies- basic items are provided. I cannot however provide a vac as that would be an expensive item to have to replace. 3. Cleaning Deposit? I do not charge a cleaning deposit ? I charge a damage deposit. My cleaning fee is exactly that. I do not require my guests lift a finger before they leave. It would be unethical to charge guests a cleaning fee and then ask them to do the cleaning? In addition to that my properties are spotless, I cannot maintain that by having guests do there own cleaning. This guest nor any before have ever lost their damage deposit for not cleaning. This guest fabricated that comment. 4. House next to highway. Yes it is and it's exactly as pictured on my vrbo page. I do not attempt to hide anything from my guests. The house was designed with sound proofing in the walls for that very reason. The only time you notice traffic is when you are in the parking area. The unit is directly over the creek and facing a mountain. The only noise you hear inside or on deck is the creek rushing by.5 Hot tub- I am perplexed on this one. Why would I ask or expect a guest to add chemicals? We change our water and scrub after every guest. If chemicals are needed they are added. If no chlorine was in the floater then none was needed. She never once said she found it unclean.6. Open bedroom window? Bedroom window does not open this is true. I may look into changing this. I am curious as to why she would want to open it just to hear the fictitious "traffic noise". I encourage all guests to contact me with any issues. This guests told me more than once they were very happy with unit. I cannot address issues that I am unaware of.

Peaceful and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

Lovely cabin by the creek. Clean and nicely decorated. Great amenities. No cell service in Butler and no land line at the cabin so contacting family near by was by email only. TV had Netflix but no channels so I couldn't get weather or news. I tried using my Kindle with the available Wi Fi Network but it just kept buffering.

Washer and dryer was a great convenience. Kitchen with nice fridge, dishwasher, stove, microwave and coffee maker.

Great property on the water!

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased with our weekend getaway choice. This place is wonderful. Cozy and very clean. We loved the location of the water, right behind the place where we enjoyed our AM coffee. Very pleased and hope to return soon so we can enjoy more of what is there. Perfect fishing location for the fly fisherman. Thank you!

GREAT LOCATION/WELL MAINTAINED

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The property is very well kept, and the location was terrific for the Watauga Lake triathlon, which is why we were up there. Everything was perfect when we arrived, and there were very clear instructions for how to work the TV, etc., which is always appreciated. The master bed was particularly comfortable, and the kitchen is well stocked. There is also a book with great suggestions for restaurants, etc. The only reason my review is not 5 stars is that the only two windows that open are the two in the kitchen. We chose this place because it was on a gorgeous rushing creek, and wanted to be able to open the windows and hear it. But honestly, that's a minor thing - we would return, but thought to note that for anyone who absolutely has to have fresh mountain air at night.

Very nice view but not much else

  • 2 of 5

Arrived to this "cabin" with no power. Power came back on after a few. But when I say "cabin" I mean modular home devided to make 3 very nice motel rooms. Very nicely appointed but TV is useless with no antenna or cable. The paper thin walls will have you up all night if the other rooms are rented.

My biggest pet peeve wasn't paying a cleaning fee. It was the "honey do list" the owners leave telling you to do your own cleaning even AFTER you paid for THEM to clean.

Owner's Response: Wow, very surprised by this guests comments. I suggest that potential guests read earlier reviews. 1. He is correct regarding the power being out when he arrived. A storm is an act of "Nature". I cannot control that so I believe it is very unfair for him to even mention that. As he said the power came back on quickly. 2. He used the word "cabin". I never did. It clearly states on VRBO website that this unit is one of 3 and I clearly call it an apartment. I assure you it is much more than in his words "A VERY NICE HOTEL ROOM", which by the way is very positive. 3. Modular Home. This guests is apparently unaware of the meaning of Modular. Definition: Sectional prefabricated buildings. On the VRBO website it is clearly stated that this building began as a large restaurant. My husband and I completely gutted the place and turned it into 3 separate apartments, two of which have large lovely decks that literally hang over Doe Creek. The 3rd unit is occupied by a Medical Doctor year round. 4. "Paper Thin Walls" My husband and I went to great expense and detail to make sure the walls were not "paper thin". Each and every inside wall is lined with sound proofing board. 5. "HONEY DO LIST" I respect this mans opinion and he or anyone has the right to NOT LIFT A FINGER before they leave my units. We ask the following: PLEASE PUT TOWELS IN WASHING MACHINE AND TURN ON. PLEASE THROW DIRTY LINENS IN THE FLOOR AT FOOT OF BED. The first request is asked of our guest so that the cleaning lady has a head start on the laundry. She has only 3 hours to clean the entire unit for the next guest. It is very helpful time wise if the washer is already going. It is not demanded however. The request to remove linen is really for our guests. You would be surprised to learn the number of our guests who make the beds before they leave and it is a waste of their time as we launder everything on the bed after each guest. 5. No CABLE. This is correct. Cable is very expensive and this unit has never had it. We do have WIFI and APPLE TV with NETFLIX provided which means that one can watch just about ANYTHING one would like. The only thing this unit lacks is local TV. MOST PEOPLE DO NOT COME TO THE MOUNTAINS TO WATCH THE LOCAL NEWS. This guests was mad when he walked through the door. I do not know why and I think it is very UNFAIR of him to give me a 2 star rating when he admits himself that the Unit and the view was "VERY NICE". UNFAIR RATING
