Very sweet cottage in a great location.
The cottage was sweet and was beautiful property. The location was great I walked to the beach and the market even to pick up pizza.
We had a great stay on Long Island. The cottage was perfect. It was super clean and comfortable, the owner was very thoughtful with kitchen and bathroom amenities. The location is awesome.
Very comfortable cottage; well thought out space; kind and helpful host.
This place is very well thought out. It is not very big, but feels bigger than it is. We were traveling with two small kids (a little under 5 and a little under 2). We were able to fit the pack n play in the downstairs bedroom, so that the kids could be downstairs and we wouldn't need to worry about accidents with the ship ladder that leads to the second floor. The kitchen is small, but functional and has everything you should need. No coffee making device, but if you are comfortable with improvising a pour-over contraption, there were a couple of funnels in the cupboard. Fowler's beach is a very short walk (took us 5 minutes or less). The bigger beach (south beach) is just over a mile walk (took us 20 ish minutes with little kids, longer when we chose to stop at the library along the way).
The host met us at the ferry and took us and all our stuff to the place when we arrived.
If you've never been to Long Island and walking isn't your thing, there are ways to rent a golf cart for the week (host will give you the phone numbers), or you could bring a bike.
We would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful home at the lovely island
My family spent a wonderful vacation at this cozy cottage. Owner of the cottage was very helpful. Long Island ME is part of one of 222 large and small islands in Casco Bay, ME. Plenty of beaches and islands to explore.
Lovely cottage by the ocean
This property was more than I had hoped for...a great little house tucked away in a wooded setting with complete privacy yet a few minutes walk from the beach. It was even nicer than the pics showed, both inside and out. The deck was perfect for catching the morning sun and evening songbird activity. The frog pond is a nice touch, and the interior is in excellent condition. Clean, well furnished and fun with a tall metal ladder leading to the upstairs loft! Very beachy and comfortable.
The kitchen was just about complete, with everything we needed including a lobster pot. I would suggest bringing a French press if you want brewed coffee but other than that you will find what you need there.
The owner Sandy was so helpful by meeting us at the Ferry dock and driving us to the house...she was on the island and reachable if needed which is always nice. On my trips to Long Island, I've found everyone to be very friendly and welcoming with none of the "locals vs. tourist" mentality. I find them to be down to earth and friendly people who go out of their way to be helpful and nice.
The beach (Fowler's) is about a 3 minute walk, the General Store which serves lunches and dinners is a 10 min. walk and the other store is a few minutes more. Long island is great for exploring with beaches and a hiking trail. You can jump on the ferry and explore other islands as well for no cost. Just get your schedules straight so that you can get back to Long when you want to!
I give this property a huge A+++ for location, convenience, price and comfort. You won't be disappointed.
