About KATHERINE TAHERI
Katherine bought our beautiful home just before September 11th, 2001, and it quickly became a refuge for family and friends to gather and share the important things in life! She is creative, and is an artist and writer. During her business career she owned several businesses, including an Irish Pub, and retired in 2014. Zach, her son, is an Epic Programmer for Stanford Children's Hospital and currently lives in Half Moon Bay with his wife, Laura. Her eldest son, Pehr, lives in Cartersville. Katherine and Kuni live in Rockmart on a farm that invites boarding dogs for stay-vacations while their humans are on holiday.
KATHERINE TAHERI purchased this House in 2001
Why KATHERINE TAHERI chose Cartersville
You could not find a better sit back and relax place than this home. We are within 15 minutes from Lake Point Sporting Community, and within a 15 minute walk to a Environmental Preserve. Cartersville is halfway between Atlanta and Chattanooga or the Georgia Mountains. There are several nearby rivers for boating and fishing. We are also within 30 minutes to both Kennesaw State University and Martha Berry College. And frankly, it is just a great place to stay!
What makes this House unique
Each room has a unique feel. Because of the distance to the next home, the stillness invites peaceful moments on the porches or for conversation, reading, hiking, sleeping!

This property is amazing!
Wow! Even More than we were expecting! Beautiful house, peaceful grounds. Well eqipped kitchen. Great grill. All the Beds are incredibly comfortable. The hummingbirds on the trumpet vine on the back porch were so much fun to watch and so many of them. Also on the front porch was a family of wrens. So Adorable. The front porch is a must for early morning coffee. Secluded and peaceful, we looked forward to waking up! Bottom floor and upstairs bedroom are quiet and very relaxing. Our son is a guitarist and loved the seclusion of the basement. Its like another house down there! We hosted a family get together in the main part of the house. The sectional is huge and accommodated everyone perfectly. We didnt want to leave. Thank you for an absolutely restful and relaxing stay. Definitely would like to return and recommend to anyone wanting a totally zen experience in the woods!
We absolutely LOVED our stay here!
This beautiful hideaway was certainly hidden away... Once we found our way, it was easy in/out. In the middle of the woods, so serine and tranquil we enjoyed every minute of our time here... Our favorite... THE FRONT PORCH.. just sitting, watching, listening and just relaxing... Just perfect! ALL the amenities of home. It was so clean and just ready for us to arrive! We enjoyed our baseball tournament at Lakepoint Sports Complex. We visited a beach at Allatoona Lake, and rode some bike trails at Red Top Mountain. But mostly, just being together on the porch morning, afternoon and evening was the best. Thank you for your hospitality.
Thank you for your lovely review. You were great guests and left our home so perfectly, making a quick turnover a breeze. Thank you for the detail on your review too. Come back....any time.
Really restful place. Beautiful artwork scattered throughout. Very comfortable beds. Hosts attentive and responded quickly to emails.Thankyou for sharing your home.
Suzanne and family, the perfect guests! The home was left perfectly after their visit, with only a couple of beds used and sheets in the washer. Dishes done. Wonderful communicators too. Any host would love to have The Shepherd's visiting!
Very nice house in the woods. Here is my review !
July 12 through July 20, 2018
Hello!! We are the Cook family (Ricky, Tammy and Dillon) from Huntsville, Alabama. The 15U National Wood Bat Championship, at Lakepoint Baseball Complex, is the reason we are in town. There are 328 baseball teams, from around the nation here for the Lakepoint tournament. My son plays for Viper Baseball Academy out of Huntsville, AL. We are so happy that we chose to stay here at the sanctuary house in the woods.
It was a pleasant surprise to find the house so clean and special. The art work, the furniture, the brick fire place, the bathrooms and the special odd and ins of the decor added to the ambience of the house. My wife loved the rustic yet modern kitchen. She said the large laundry room was a dream room for all those dirty baseball pants. All the beds and pillows where very good. My 15 year old son really liked the basement. He made it his own private domain. He had his own TV, pool table and bedroom. We only saw him when he was hungry. We loved the open floor plan of the house. All the windows in the house allowed us lots of viewing time for relaxation, while we looked out into the woods. We saw deer, lots of humming birds, butterflies and small animals. The owners have planted so many interesting plants in the area. Our personal favorites were the hydrangea plants, the flowering vine over the arbor on the back deck and all the fig trees. Of course, all the hard wood trees are fantastic. The back deck was great. We usually had our breakfast there, while watching the hummingbirds play. The fire pit area was very nice and big. The big parrot at the fire pit is a special touch. One thing you must do while at this house, is to have your very early morning coffee from the front porch. Listening to the birds and nature greeting the day is all you need to make your day special (sunrise is the best time!). This place is so peaceful, private and cozy. Also, I would highly recommend taking the walk to the Pettit Preserve. It is only a short walk away to see a very nice 10 acre pond, while walking the 2 mile trail. We have enjoyed our stay and would definitely return back one day. All we wanted to do was go to the baseball fields and hurry back to the house in the woods, so that we could grill out and relax (forget Atlanta). Oh, I almost forgot, we enjoyed the special gift under the hen!
We are so touched by this perfect review and perfect description of our house. The Cook's were ideal guests. The home was immaculate when we came to clean it up....just a few beds to make and a dusting and vacuuming were all that was needed. Their communication was sweet and timely. And the house was the better for their visit!
Thank you for what you brought to our lives.
Beautiful home. We had 10 adults staying here and we never felt cramped. If you want quiet, beautiful scenery and nature this is the place to stay.
Shirley and all those who stayed were absolutely great guests. The home was left in perfect shape, clean and both dishes and laundry begun making our job easier.
We are the perfect house for those participating in Lakepoint Sports. In addition, the Tellus and Western Art Museums are in Cartersville, nearby Gulfing and, most importantly, we are adjacent to the private Pettit Environmental Preserve, on Lake Dellinger, which had over 4 miles of trails for exploring Geogia's eco systems.
