Katherine bought our beautiful home just before September 11th, 2001, and it quickly became a refuge for family and friends to gather and share the important things in life! She is creative, and is an artist and writer. During her business career she owned several businesses, including an Irish Pub, and retired in 2014. Zach, her son, is an Epic Programmer for Stanford Children's Hospital and currently lives in Half Moon Bay with his wife, Laura. Her eldest son, Pehr, lives in Cartersville. Katherine and Kuni live in Rockmart on a farm that invites boarding dogs for stay-vacations while their humans are on holiday.

KATHERINE TAHERI purchased this house in 2001

Why KATHERINE TAHERI chose Cartersville

You could not find a better sit back and relax place than this home. We are within 15 minutes from Lake Point Sporting Community, and within a 15 minute walk to a Environmental Preserve. Cartersville is halfway between Atlanta and Chattanooga or the Georgia Mountains. There are several nearby rivers for boating and fishing. We are also within 30 minutes to both Kennesaw State University and Martha Berry College. And frankly, it is just a great place to stay!

What makes this house unique

Each room has a unique feel. Because of the distance to the next home, the stillness invites peaceful moments on the porches or for conversation, reading, hiking, sleeping!

Pretty, out of the way location

  • 4 of 5

We loved the house - it’s darling and decorated with a lot of artwork. The front porch was delightful, even during a rain shower it was dry and pleasant. Because it is located next to a preserve, there is an amazing amount of traffic on the weekends. Otherwise, it is out of the way, and private.

Musty smell

  • 4 of 5

Very nice property. Peaceful. Only complaint I have is the musty smell throughout the house. Otherwise, great place!

Owner's Response: Thank you for letting us know about the musty smell. We’ve had a lot of rain lately. We will be in touch with our Hvac company to help us address that issue.

An excellent spot for a quiet getaway

  • 5 of 5

The ladies and I had a wonderful stay at this lovely home. More than one said it was their favorite of our annual rereats! There was plenty of space for everyone, and we were easily able to stay together to chat, or find a quiet space to think and pray. My only regret is the weather wasn't nice enough for us to spend time outdoors at the fire pit, on the porches, or at the Pettit Environmental Preserve. We will seriously consider coming back here for next year's retreat. Thank you very much!

(The only drawback was the small scorpion we found in the tub downstairs. It's always slightly startling to be reminded that they live in Georgia as well as the Southwest!)

Beautiful Property!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a great time at our stay here! There was plenty of room for our group of ten! I recommend staying here rather than a hotel if you have children that like to get out and run around! They also enjoyed the pool table, I don't think there was ever not a game going on! It was unfortunate that it was extremely cold during our stay, we were looking forward to sitting by the outdoor fire pit but had just as much fun around the fireplace! The owner responded immediately when we couldn't find the thermostat and was extremely helpful! I would definitely stay here again!

Owner's Response: What a lovely review, Rita. You were perfect guests, and we very much appreciated how clean the house was when you left. What we most loved in your review was that there was always a game going...the house loves happy activities! Thank you !

Perfect girl’s weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, unique cabin. The owners were very responsive and kind. The property is gorgeous and we enjoyed sitting on the porches. The beds were very comfortable. The fun, eclectic decor made the cabin one-of-a-kind.

Quiet retreat for a large family!

  • 5 of 5

We so enjoyed our Thanksgiving time at the cabin in the woods. The kids enjoyed the addition of the parrot and nicked named him Dave! They had fun finding the new additions you added since this was our second visit to the cabin. We had a bonfire, ate our Turkey and just enjoyed being able to accommodate all our family in one house. Thank you so much for a warm an inviting atmosphere. The welcome cookies were a nice surprise. Everyone had a great time. We were lacking for no amenity. If I had one small complaint it would be please get WIFI - the kids had withdrawal.

We are the perfect house for those participating in Lakepoint Sports. In addition, the Tellus and Western Art Museums are in Cartersville, nearby Gulfing and, most importantly, we are adjacent to the private Pettit Environmental Preserve, on Lake Dellinger, which had over 4 miles of trails for exploring Geogia's eco systems.
