About mary kaye dorn
Our family purchased the Farm House in 1992 along with 180 acres. The 180 acres connects with the remainder of our dairy/crop farm. We milk a herd of 75 registered Guernsey cows on the home farm. Our farm is totally family operated. We converted the farmhouse into a vacation house to share especially with city folks who don't get the opportunity to enjoy the countryside. We also wanted families to understand our farming life style. We moved to New Glarus in 1980 when we brought our herd of 45 cows to our original farm of 350 acres. Since then we were able to add acreage from this property as well as some other adjoining acreage so our farm now totals 700 acres. We have raised 7 children on the farm who are now all grown. Several of them along with grandchildren are still involved on the farm in different capacities. We enjoy getting to know our guests and sharing farming background with them.

Why mary kaye dorn chose New Glarus
Guests have shared with us that they are so amazed with the peacefulness and beauty of the area. You will feel you are a word away from everything yet so close to the Village of New Glarus which in itself is an amazing place to visit. Settled by Swiss immigrants it a tourist town that shares their Swiss heritage. Within a short distance is must stop - The New Glarus Brewery and new this year - Bailey's Run Vineyard.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
Located down a long driveway and nestled in a valley you will feel you are a world away from everything. The peacefulness is amazing. There is something about the farmhouse that takes you to another place when life was slower and time stands still. Take in the countryside and breathe.

Nice and quiet
We enjoyed our stay. The home has some great highlights including being isolated, shady, a big playroom for the kids, working AC and lots of room outside for hikes and play. I appreciated it being pet friendly as well. Very comfortable with plenty of room. We did not get offered the dairy farm experience, which the kids would have enjoyed, but it was also blazing hot and it's not like the dairy farm was a guarantee or anything. The only real disappointment was the grill. We planned on prepping all meals outside, but the grill was rusted out and in dire need of cleaning. Thankfully a fully stocked kitchen and working appliances were onsite. I would highly recommend this place for spring or fall, I imagine a good bonfire on a cool night here would be amazing.
Country hideaway with loads of charm
This property was a great location. 10 min from New Glarus. Plenty of room for 10 adults. We would definitely stay again.
Driftless Area Riding
Five couples on a riding weekend. We arrived Friday afternoon and loved the house, lots of room and a big table for eating together so we enjoyed our meals together! Basic supplies were available, store close by to grab groceries, plenty of restaurants, and bars! Stayed two nights. Gas grill fire pit for bon fires:) It was a great time, will come back again if in the area.
Great stay for families!
My husband and I took a daughter and five grandkids to the farmhouse for three nights. The toy room was great for the 5, 7, and 9 year old. They played with the farm toys for hours. The house is spacious. The yard was perfect for the kids to run in. I would rent again. Really wish there was a second full bath!
Great home for a group
Group of friends in town for the Horribly Hilly Hundreds Bike ride, fun to have space to relax the night before and space to tell stories and celebrate after!
Nice little farm house and land
