Nice property but management is very lacking
We had 3 families of 12 people spent the labor day long weekend at this property. The property itself is nice, lots of room for 12 people to spread out, but there are only 2 full bathrooms to use which is very limiting in the morning and evening when everyone needs to take a shower. But we managed to get by without too much trouble.
The main issue we had was with the property management. She was very slow to respond to issues we have encountered during the stay, creating unneeded hassles for our well planned group get-together.
The management promised to send access information on the day of arrival including WIFI password, however we never received WIFI password on the day of arrival. Once arrived, we found one of the room with an alarm that has low battery, it constantly beeps and made that room unusable for sleeping. We also found the Internet modem laying on the table with power unplugged and no password information provided. We texted the management but did not receive any reply until the next morning. And the reply we received was a simple text message stating the internet password without mentioning anything about the issue with smoke alarm. We had to take care of the alarm issue ourselves. At lunch time, when we started cooking, we discovered that the BBQ grill had an empty tank, texted the management again, but never received any replies. Again, we had to deal with it ourselves.
Another annoying part was that when we booked the property, there is a mandatory property damage insurance that we had to pay for, as I understand it, it covers damages to the rental properties. But at the same time we were also charged damage deposit, which makes no sense given that we already paid for the damage insurance that covers a much higher amount. We had inquired about this charge before booking but never received any reply. Due to the size of our group, we did not have too many choices on vacation rentals. So we went ahead paid for all the charges. After the stay, it took one email inquiry and a full week for the management to refund the damage deposit.
Overall, although we liked the convenient location and had a great time at Cape Lookout National Seashore, we were not happy with the readiness of the property and service (almost none) provided by the management company. We would not stay at this property again.
Beaufort Beach House
This house was nice, however there were several things that could have made this trip way better. I dealt with 3 different people which made this very confusing as to whom was in charge. April is not the owner but one of the managers (I assume), then there was Rita (probably the house keeper or area manager) and then there was the owner Sameh Toma.
Upon arrival I was waiting to hear from someone to get the code to go into the home and I actually had to call Rita for the code, normally the owner will give the code the day of or at least a hour prior. Once inside the property we could not locate the "Hot Tub", it was not until a day later that we found the hot tub behind some sliding glass doors in one of the guest bedrooms and it was not in working order it had construction debris all in it, very disappointing. The other problem was the stairs they were not carpeted and were very slick and steep! So steep one of the travelers fell down the last 3 steps.
The good thing about the house was that it was very large to accommodate several people with plenty of beds. It is close to the quaint downtown area of Beaufort even though you have to drive. It is very quite and you can see the water from the house. If you are looking for something close to nightlife and beaches this is not the property for you but if you are looking for something that is quite and large it's for you.
Beautiful property but had some issues
The house is beautiful and the property is nice; however, when we arrived it was very hot and we could never get the temperature below 73 degrees. Our contact seemed uninterested in addressing this concern and it made it difficult to sleep due to the uncomfortable temps. Also, several light bulbs were. It working so some areas were dark. Amenities listed a hot tub but it was not functional. We had a fun time but the home had some issues.
Travelers, school children and history-lovers alike step back in time at the Beaufort State Historic Site, where you can see everyday colonial life on display. Tour the beautiful historic homes, see what it was like to be a prisoner by visiting the old jail, climb aboard an English double-decker bus and travel through Beaufort's history as colonist pass down the stories of Confederate spies and pirates. The most well known pirate, Blackbeard, has a long history in Beaufort. Three miles off the coast proves the resting place of his flagship, the Queen Anne's Revenge. Artifacts from the ship as well as other historic treasures from the area are on display at the NC maritime Museum. Festivals surrounding the mystery wreckage have costumed pirates, face painting, a 15 minute training school for kids and much more. With such captivation stories, the beach is not just the only reason travelers pick Beaufort as their vacation destination.
