Skull Island Newboro Lake ,Newboro Ontario Canada
We knew we wanted to visit this lake ,but knew nothing at all about it or where to stay. The couple that own this are fantastic. Very patient as we were late getting to our meeting point. My fault completely. But we loaded the boat and sailed down the lake and found it easily enough. The owners were patiently waiting for us. They were so very polite about it. They were very hospitable. The cabin was huge. the views were astounding. We had the island to ourselves all week. Now the fishing,WOW we caught 114 fish ,yes we kept count. Pike,Bass,Perch, bluegill. what a healthy lake. Many we talked to didn't think pike were in there, they were!. the bass we caught were huge. we had the very best time. We really loved this vacation. I give it a total 5! this is not to be missed if you fish and like peace and quiet. Thank you Home away ,and Jan and Judy. Sheree and Jim 09/2017
Fantastic cottage and views!
This was our second year renting from Jan and Judy and again it was an amazing experience. There were 5 adults and 4 dogs and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The addition of a deck on the back of the cottage allowed us to enjoy our meals outside with beautiful views. I would not hesitate to recommend this location to anyone. We have already booked again for next year!!!
Peaceful relaxing family vacation
This island cottage has everything you need for a quiet getaway. Plenty of room to gather inside and enough space on the island to spread out whether at the gazebo, front and back decks with views of the lake and a wonderful hammock swinging between two trees. We loved the kayaks and water bikes. And the beds are comfy! We definitely recommend it.
Great week on the island!!
My wife and I had a fantastic time on Skulls Island! The house was very clean and had all of the comforts of home. We witnessed some great wildlife from both of the decks and really just enjoyed taking in the lake atmosphere. Jan was very welcoming when we met and offered his assistance for anything should we have needed it. I would absolutely recommend this place to others. A total 5 star time was had!!!
We would do it again!!
Skulls Island is a vacation we will not forget. The cottage is rustic, but homey and comfortable. Everything you need is there, but if something is needed Jan and Judy will do their best to provide. Jan and Judy go over and above to make your stay one to talk about back home.
Newboro Lake for us was a fishing paradise. We caught many kinds of fish, but the most fun was catching Largemouth Bass. For the week, we caught 34 Largemouth Bass 16’’ or larger. The largest was 19 3/4’’ and they all are still there waiting for the next angler.
We hope one day to return to Skulls Island to again feel at peace and listen to the songs of the Loons. Thanks Jan, thanks Judy.
