Great time at White Lake!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our week at White Lake! The house was perfect for our family and young grandchildren. We appreciated the gate at the top of the stairs, and a high chair for our 1 yr old! So many things to do around the area - beaches, boating, Michigan Adventure -- a good time for all! Thanks, Mary & Porter!

Great location near 3 lakes!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here for 5 days over Labor Day weekend and it was wonderful. Very spacious and comfortable. Walking distance to White Lake (less than a quarter mile to the boat launch and a restaraunt/Inn) and if you're up for a long walk , to Lake Michigan at the White Lake Pier. The beach by that pier was very secluded.

Duck Lake State Park is about a mile and a half the other way. Took my son fishing there and climbed a dune to watch the sunrise. Had a great view of Lake Michigan and Duck Lake, which connect by a shallow channel which throngs off people were swimming and playing in the Sunday of Labor Day weekend.

The White Duck Market has more things than you'd think to keep you stocked up on food. And we did take the trip to Silver Lake State Park and did the Mac Woods dune rides. It was great and more worth it than I thought it would be. We didn't visit the nearby theme park, Michigan Adventures, only for lack of time and that we felt content at the beach or playing cards at the house.

Only a few improvements I could suggest. Mosquitos flocked to the windows and got behind some of the springs and made us hesitant to open them. Not sure if there's anything that can be done about that, might be life in the woods. There is no central air, but a pretty good portable/window unit in the living room/kitchen/dining room space. The only other thing that would have been nice is more/better grill utensils, so you may be good to bring some from home. There was a good bit of poison ivy near the deck, but again, country living.

Oh! They even had a high chair for our 1 year old already there! We'd highly recommend and would stay again.

This house is nestled in the dunes up high in the hills. Very private! At the end of the driveway there is a great restaurant and bar. You will be steps away from White Lake and the channel leading to Lake Michigan. You can swim, fish, hike or walk down the street to Duck Lake State Park for the day or head over the Michigan Adventure. Blueberry picking is close and yummy too!
