This is an old house with a tonne of character and all the amenities! The house was originally built circa 1875 and the structure remains virtually untouched. The bathroom has just been renovated. We are in the country on the lake, so expect to see some wildlife; birds, butterflies, rabbits, groundhogs, foxes, eagles I even saw a deer in the backyard one day. There are also a large selection of insects that sing beautiful songs. Although rustic, the house boasts all the comforts of home. Washer dryer, dishwasher, stove, toaster oven, coffee maker, toaster, slow cooker, stereo system, wireless internet, wool blankets and everything you need to serve dinner - pots, pans, plates and cutlery. We also supply a fresh batch of bathroom and kitchen towels upon your arrival. The backyard has a picnic table, muskoka chairs and even a firepit!

Not what we hoped at all!
A friend and I were in town for a weekend conference, visiting from the US, and booked this house as a home base.
Our first trouble was getting the information needed to check-in. For some reason, the welcome email did not come through on our WiFi connection, so we we're unable to get the house code to enter. We emailed the home owner and he replied that we should have what we needed but he did not provide the entrance code (and an email later did come through with a time stamp that showed that info had been sent on time). We stopped by the house, hoping we could get in before our conference started and saw that it was run down, the least well kept house on the street. But we figured it would be fine. Since we couldn't get in or reach the owner by phone, we went to the beginning of our conference.
By the time we returned to the house it was dark. And there were no lights of any kind on at the house. We walked into in enclosed front porch while we tried again to contact the owner. While waiting for him to email back (since there was no number to call) we saw a stripped wire strung up across the porch in a bizarre haphazard manner, running from inside the house, out to the porch and then hanging from a hook on the ceiling. We didn't touch it in case it was live. There was a wooden box with trash and odds and ends in it on the porch too. After waiting for 15-20 minutes with an uncomfortable feeling of not being safe (it was now almost 10:00 pm), we left and booked a hotel room.
When we got settled into our bright and cozy hotel room, the welcome email (time stamped 3:59 pm) that had the house code information finally came through. We explained to the owner that we had already had to book a hotel for the night since we couldn't get into his house and he didn't send the code, and because we didn't feel safe there. He was apologetic that we couldn't get the welcome information in time and was surprised we did not feel safe at his home in the dark. He said check-in was not usually so late and that's why there are no lights at his home. He did not seem to know about the wire making his porch unsafe.
We let him know that we had booked the hotel for our weekend stay and that we would appreciate a refund for our booking. I even offered to pay for one night and the service fee, but the owner has so far not refunded us the cost of the lodgings we could never use.
The home might be comfortable inside, but from the outside, I can't recommend it.
Thanks for taking the time to write this note, however I find it very irresponsible for you to review a place that you didn't stay in and cancelled at the last minute. There is no gain here, and it does nothing but impact us negatively. For a place that we have been successfully providing visitors to Kingsville an economical and comfortable stay for 5 years now with a long list of happy guests, I don't appreciate the length you've gone to try to take that away from us.
Despite that, we have taken your notes into consideration and have made adjustments as necessary.
Great accommodation for a great price.
The overall experience was great, my family really liked the place, it was cozy and very relaxing, we also had great opportunity to visit the great locations in and around the Kingsville and Leamington area it is also great for visiting the Point Pelee National Park. Would definitely stay here again.
Cute century home
Great location. Kingsville is a cute little town. Lots to see and explore. I would return for another visit.
