The water and electricity in The área is not working properly, but The house is very confortable, we love it
Do not choose this property!
3 couples chose this property for the listed amenities and location. The location was wonderful, private, access to beach. Remote from town. As for the actual property- VERY disappointed and we ultimately moved to another property to salvage our trip. The trip started with things such as dirty dishes in sink, old bar soap in showers, all around dirty. Had to work with owner and property manager to have cleaning crew come back. Move to the much desired outdoor space, the chairs we were told would be there were not, the pool that we were promised would be "pristine" looked like a toilet that had not been flushed after many uses, yes brown. In addition, the dishwasher leaked, the small refrigerator leaked, the plumbing had multiple issues such as handles coming off faucets, water barely coming out of shower heads and water coming out of a wall when turning on faucet. We also noted what we believed to be Bat guano on the stairs and low and behold, about 100 bats live in the attic space of this home, obviously some are getting into home. There was an open electric panel, the hammock and other things were stuffed in boxes in master closet, towels looked like what I use to wash my car. Doors falling off of cabinets, drawers in kitchen all in disrepair. A/C units are run but remotes, yet there is not a remote in each room, a bit of challenge during the night.
The power went off the first night, obviously not a home owner issue. The power went off the third night which was just for this home, turns out that there was a FIRE in the electric meter! thankfully it was not physically on the house because in the event of a needed escape it would ethane been possible with the windows that were screwed shut in every room.
We worked hard to help with pool and laugh off the issues but once we got to the second day without power and things continues to occur we had to leave. With care this house could be wonderful but am assuming since it is up for sale that the owner is not investing in the upkeep required.
We were refunded for the days we did not stay, we did however have to pay the full price of the days we stayed although it was more like a working trip than vacation days. This is the first time we have had a bad Home Away rental experience.
In all fairness, we reached out to these guests in advance of their staying informing them there was damage to the house from the last hurricane that hit Central America and the home was under repair. Additionally, they arrived 4 hours early, and they were allowed to check in early even though the cleaning hadn't been completed yet. Despite the home repairs they knew about in advance and saw firsthand, they decided to stay anyway. There were numerous power outages that had been occurring in the area which affected the pool. The hard water in the area has heavy iron content which causes the water to look brown at times and this affected the color of the pool water after being topped off when the filters couldn't be run due to the outages. The pool was pristine the week before their arrival but the numerous power outages made it difficult to keep clear. Additional chairs, towels, and anything else they requested were purchased for them during their stay. Ultimately, the extensive power outages ended up being the main issue that impacted their stay. The outages ultimately burnt out the meter to the home which subsequently was replaced. The roof to the home has since been completely replaced and the ceilings on the interior are being replaced and/or painted from the damage incurred from the hurricane. Although the home is for sale, we continue to pour investments into it to make it comfortable for our guests and ourselves when staying there. Any items guests may bring to our attention are always attempted to be rectified ASAP. For these guests in particular, we incurred an additional $1200 in expenses for additional lawn furniture, beach towels, etc..the day they arrived to make their stay comfortable. We were not able to control the power outages. The subsequent guest after their stay loved the home with no complaints on the quality of the home and pool.
Fantastic location. House needs work
We arrived late on the first night and the caretaker waited for us and was very helpful. The house has everything you could want and the location is very private and beautiful. The house itself however is in bad shape. The ceilings are cracked and bowed. We were afraid they were going to collapse. The kitchen is not well stocked and we had to wash whatever we did use. The pool was dirty and crawling with bugs. The last night we had an animal stuck in the ceiling of the master bedroom. We left one day early. Just couldn’t take it anymore.
The roof was damaged due to the last hurricane that hit the area and hadn't been fixed yet for their stay; however, everything in the home is functional. The roof has since been completed replaced so no animals/birds can get into the roof. The ceilings in the interior are being replaced. A new pool person has been hired to ensure the pool is maintained regularly.
Beautiful home and location, tropical ocean is winning the maintenance battle.
Water supply is potable but contains sand and tannins - supplied by an owner association well. Good quantity but bottled water for drinking is essentially a must - it is provided. The faucets, toilets, washing machine, all water appliances take a beating from the sand in the water. Property manager is very helpful and available, fortunitely.
A paradise on beach
A large house in a very quiet and intimate location
What a great place to stay. It had it all. We were 3 couples, plenty of room for all.
Very comfortable home.
