Due to its flat and pristine water and constant wind, Union island is increasingly becoming one of the best spot in the Caribbean to practice kite surfing.
From the house, it is a 15 minutes walk down through a trail to reach Big sands beach which is one of the finest beach on Union and about 20 minutes to reach Richmond beach. Count 20-25 minutes to reach either Clifton or Ashton villages.
At Big Sands, along the beachfront there's the Sparrows beach club where you can sip the best rum punch on a comfortable beach chair! A free shuttle service can pick you up and bring you directly to the beach.
This unspoiled island of charm and character has sunshine all year round and is even good to visit during the low season.
Although not necessary, we recommend renting a 4x4 or mule for ease of transport back up the hill to the house, or into Clifton to explore the shops, vegetable and fruit stalls and buy provisions, or explore other beaches such has Chatham bay, Campbell bay and kite-surf beach. You can rent the mule for $US 50 /day.
