This spacious corner unit, with ocean views from the lanai, master bedroom and living area, was completely renovated in October, 2015. Grab your morning coffee and watch the sunrise, crashing waves and whale/dolphin from the privacy of your own lanai. Wireless WiFi is included in our rates.

Designed with comfort and relaxation in mind, the unit features contemporary Asian elegance with tasteful touches of island charm. Upgrades include all new furniture and bedding, new kitchen appliances, mirrors which reflect natural light and ocean views everywhere, windows and fans which provide great ventilation, completely re-tiled bathroom showers, new hardwood flooring and new window coverings.

The new kitchen includes Sapele Mahogany cabinets, granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and all the smaller appliances you need. The fully stocked kitchen provides a comfortable setting for cooking your own meals. Grind your coffee beans, make a fresh pot of coffee and enjoy the morning view of the ocean. A starter set of coffee and Kauai Cookies are a pleasant surprise on your first morning.

Your totally remodeled master bedroom also has an ocean view, a Californian king bed and en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom has 2 twins (convertible to a king) and its own private full bathroom. Both bathrooms have been renovated with new cabinets, vanities, and tile work. All new linens and towels are provided for your comfort.

We also provide beach towels and “fun in the sun" equipment such as boogie boards, beach chairs and a portable cooler. The condo has a full size washer and dryer for your use with laundry detergent provided.

A short 10 minute walk and you're at Brennecke's Beach (consistently voted as one of the top 10 beaches in the USA in the Traveller's Choice Awards). About the same distance to Shipwreck Beach for a bit more laid back experience. It is also easy to walk to local restaurants and fine dining in resorts like the Hyatt. If you love to golf, there are multiple courses nearby. If hiking is for you, the beautiful Poipu coast is right at your doorstep.

You will find that we have made every effort to provide our guests with a beautiful and comfortable living space close to all the great outdoor activities Kauai has to offer.

This view is not what you will find in this so called Gem of a property!

We arrived thinking that we would be seeing this view that is on the website but to find a cyclone fence to look at with nothing like this photo posted. The property in general is poorly maintained and has not been updated with the exception of some exterior painting, and the roofing that was under construction upon arrival. Also the front entrance to the unit was so unwelcoming and a mess, paint chipped off the door and the entrance a mess. We could barely open the door to the deck and screen the fell off. The deck looks way bigger in the photos. It is posted that the furnishings are all new and remodeled inside. The kitchen and flooring are new but the furniture is not what we would consider a newly remodeled unit. We did not stay a night here and ended up hotel hopping our entire vacation during expensive spring break prices. If you want a nice newly remodelled unit and property this is not for you!

Owner's Response: Seriously? This review is BS! Our property was completely remodeled in 2015 and the pictures are real. The condo association has recently removed a 7’ hedge and is in the process of replacing the old fence. These guests did not like the view and threatened us with a bad review if we did not give them an entire refund. I gave them a partial refund even though it was not required as stated in our rental contract. After discussing with VRBO, they even thought a partial refund was more than generous. I would ask that you read our other reviews which reflect reality and disregard this social media bullying.

Wonderful condo in Poipu

We were fortunate enough to stay in this lovely condo for 4 nights. It was the perfect size for a family of four and the kids loved having their own beds and room. The kitchen was very nice and well stocked and the unit was clean and spacious. While we were unlucky to have some rainy weather (which is unusual for this area during the time of year), we made the best of it by using the hot tub by the pool and by playing cards and games together as a family when we couldn't go out. I would highly recommend watching the sunset one night from the beach overlook just a few steps outside the condo. A little further down there is a great view of the rocks with a arched bridge over the water with the waves crashing all around. The one thing that I would make note of is that the view from the condo from one side is slightly compromised as they are getting ready to do construction on the lot next to the condo complex and they have erected some fencing along the property line obscuring the view.

Ron was easy to communicate with and we had no complaints at all. We wouldn't hesitate to go back and stay in this same unit again if we are fortunate enough to make another trip to Kauai.

Owner's Response: Aloha Laura, Thanks for sharing your reflections on the recent time at Makahuena #4205. I'm pleased your family made the best of things is spite of the recent rains. I would like to clarify your reference to the fence between our property and the vacant lots next door. This is an old fence that was covered by our hedge to provide privacy to our property owners. The hedge has recently been removed and the old fence is to be torn down and replaced with a new cast iron fence with greater visibility. The 10 lots next door have not been approved for sale nor is any construction currently being planned. Mahalo, Ron

Great location

We loved this condo. Nice kitchen and appliances, and the living room furniture is Comfortable! Face it- it gets used since It is dark at 7 pm, so there are evening hours to read or watch tv. (Other places I have stayed skimp on the furniture making for uncomfortable evenings.)

The King bed however is very soft, so that you sink into fluff when you lie on it. Did not get a back ache so maybe it was just a top cover of some kind. The walk-in closet was great!

The views from the lanai are just beautiful, we watched whales, dolphin and turtles. Hint- take binoculars. Listening to the waves crash at night is so peaceful I hated to fall asleep!

The pool and hot tub were very nice.

The only negative I can think of is there is no way to get to the room without using some stairs.

amazing vacation

We would definitely recommend this accommodation: nice walking path along the ocean starts right here, and the views of sunrises and sunsets are beautiful. We were also able to watch the whales and tortillas from there.

The condo itself was spacey, very clean and well maintained. It's also located just perfectly: close to several hiking routes, beautiful beaches and convenient to shops and restaurants (within 5-10 min drive).

The owners were very helpful and the customer service was excellent, so we really enjoyed our stay there.

Enjoyed our stay

My wife and I stayed in this unit for the whole month of January, 2018. We found the interior of the unit to be as advertised. It was nicely updated with modern appliances, counter tops and flooring.

The view from the lanai was uninhibited ocean view as you turned right out of the unit. The view straight ahead was less desirable as the view was limited by a property dividing chain link fence.

We did enjoy a great amount of whale watching from the lanai as the humpbacks were very active while we were there.

The only other criticism we might have, as this is a second floor unit, with two other units on the third floor. These units appeared to be short term rentals. Most of the renters were quite respectful of the fact that there were people living below them, however, in two cases these renters made a lot of noise on an ongoing basis. In one case, resulting in us having to talk them about an apparent "happy hour" that dragged on too long.

The whole Makahuena condo development is nicely located for a variety of hikes and walks and also convenient to shops and restaurants.

All in all, we had an enjoyable time in Hawaii in Unit #4205.

Fantastic views of the sunrise and whales

Our first time in Hawaii for the holidays was awesome. The location, the views and all the amenities provided made for a perfect stay. The whales were very active off Makahuena Point and provided a lot of excitement.

The owners were easy to work with as we had to change our dates. The new hiking path along the coast to Shipwreck Beach became our regular morning walk. We are definitely coming back!
