About Mary Lynn Randall

When my children were young, my family discovered Galveston. The beach, the sea breeze, exploring the old downtown became a part of our lives. We loved the island atmosphere and escape. Thirty years later when grandchildren came along, we began going back and renting a house twice a year. Finally, we decided to find a waterfront house of our own.

Mary Lynn Randall purchased this house in 2013

Why Mary Lynn Randall chose Galveston

This property was in bad shape when we first looked at it. But it had the size we needed, the long dock, but mostly, it had the Beautiful view of the Bay. After a complete renovation, our family began to enjoy many hours spent out on the water, or lounging on the deck, or heading to the beach or going into town. But the best thing of all was seeing children up through teenage, put down their electronics to spend the entire day on the Kayaks and Paddleboards, or jumping off the dock, or catching crabs and shrimp, or Fishing into the night, or playing volleyball, or basketball-----all outside! Amazing!

What makes this house unique

The best about renting a house on the Bay are all the things there are to do. My family rented only Beachfront house for years, then discovered the canal homes. At a beach house you still have to carry all the beach chairs, towels, drinks, etc. to the beach and then after some hours, the heat makes you head for the house. With a House on the Bay, you can still get to the Beach in 5 minutes and stay for as long as you want, but when you come back--there is still swimming in the lagoon, or kayaking, Paddleboarding, or fishing, or outdoor sports or just relaxing with a drink in your hand at the Outdoor Bar catching the Big Game and enjoying the view.

The great benefits of this house are: the View of the Bay from a wall of windows, the Peaceful Lagoon, the pull of the water urging you outside, the sound of the lapping waves against the dock, the smell of the sea, the beautiful pelicans gracefully gliding by, the people waving from their boats, watching the fish in the fish lights and the constant sea breeze against your skin.

And all of it only for the purpose of peace and enjoyment.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We've stayed at many properties and this house was by far the best for us. The house was nice, the balcony and the fishing was Awesome! We caught Speckled Trout, Sand Trout, Flounder and Red Fish. The Kitchen provided everything we needed to cook. We would definitely recommend and would stay at this house again.

fabulous vacation spot for my kids and grandkids!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time. Grand kids loved the beach and we could rinse off downstairs with outdoor shower before going upstairs. We set the crab traps and caught 7 or 8 blue crabs. The grandkids squealed with delight and a little bit of anxiety when they were shown the crabs up close. We let them go. (The crabs, not the grands!). We had family dinners on the upper deck with Bob Marley tunes playing. It was a special time for our family. We will definitely be back! Thanks so much for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home!

Well appointed, clean, great space for family and friends. It had everything we needed and more. The outside decks were wonderful and our little dog and granddaughter had plenty of fenced yard to roam. Thanks for an awesome vacation place!

Great Family Vacation Spot

  • 4 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful time vacationing at this home. Plenty of space to spread out inside and out. Easy access for fishing from the dock and plenty of water toys. The kids loved the large float. The house was clean and very well stocked with linens and towels. I will be honest and say that I am very hard to please when it comes to beds, but I actually slept very well on a comfortable king bed. Several people in the group said their beds were also comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked, but could have used a few more kitchen towels for drying dishes.

I would like to suggest, for safety issues, to resolve a problem we had with the lower patio area where water accumulates by the first pole next the boat slip. This area must be a little low, because the water accumulates and it never dries out, algae grows and it becomes very slippery. My 19 year old niece fell the first day and I almost fell in the water on the second day. We put up a barricade with chairs to prevent any more accidents. A good scrubbing with a little bleach would probably prevent it from being so slippery.

Honestly, the only big problem we had was with the mosquitoes. They were terrible, even using bug spray would not keep them from biting. I am sure it is because of all the rain that area has had lately. At times it was very difficult to enjoy being outside, but I do not know if there is anything the owner could have done. I am glad I bought a couple of fans because we needed them for the heat and they helped a little with the mosquitoes if you were sitting right in front of the fan.

Over all we enjoyed out stay and would rent it again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the heads up regarding the slippery spot. It has been fixed. Will also take care of more kitchen towels. Mosquitoes can be quite annoying after a rain and a new hatch. Fogging and sprays can help somewhat. But fortunately, Mosquitoes generally don't last but a few days.

Great house!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for us. It was spotless when we arrived. You can tell the owner takes very good care of the house and the cleaning company did a great job. We were a party of 11. 6 adults and 4 kids(2 teens) There was plenty of beds and room to spread out. The kitchen is the only true "fully stocked" kitchen of any house we have rented in the past.

The best part of the house was the outdoor patio/dock area. It was covered so great for the shade and the rain cover. We had a few rain storms come through during our stay and were still able to stay outside and fish. There is a bar area, tables, a large couch, a hammock, and benches along the pier to fish from. Plenty of water toys, life jackets, kayaks and paddle boards. We caught flounder, croakers, red drum, pin fish, hard heads, spot fish and sand trout. The fishing lights made it great evening and night fishing.

The yard is big and fenced off from the road so the kids ran around and played. We brought a volleyball and basket ball for the kids to play.

We didn't leave except for the morning we went down the street to the beach.

We had a great relaxing vacation and will defiantly be back!
