Two bedroom maisonette in central Islington location.
About Rachael Gormley
I am so excited to be your VRBO hostess! We have rented flats/villas as a family all over the world, and we know what it's like to be pleased with a rental, and also to be sorely disappointed. We have made every effort to ensure you love the flat, and love your stay. We've decided to exclusively VRBO the flat, thus they are set up with everything we can imagine a traveller would want. I have been in London for decades, but am originally from the USA, so we've tried to cater for the British sensibilities (hot water bottles, teas) and also the American ones (good water pressure, soft sheets and towels!). If you need anything at all, please do ask.

Why Rachael Gormley chose
My husband and I bought this property because he grew up in Islington and works there now (in fact his office is below the flat). Islington is now; chic, well-heeled but still diverse and offering so much in terms of restaurants, the arts, architecture, green spaces, access to the main tourist sites etc. It really is an area that will offer something to everyone.
What makes this Apartment unique
Islington is a happening area and so central. Amazing restaurants, theatres, shops, antiques markets, and everything you can imagine is right on your doorstep. And the tubes are nearby and incredibly centrally located. You can be anywhere you want to be in central London in minutes.

Wonderful flat in a great location!
Communication with the owner was quick and easy. The flat is located right near the tube, a grocery store and loads of wonderful restaurants and things to do. We had a great stay!
Convenient location in Angel but could use some touching up
I stayed here because it was extremely convenient for my work at Angel Square. Rachael has a very easy process for check-in. Overall, the flat met my needs but I was surprised that the condition was not as new looking as in the photos. It could use some general touch-ups in several areas. It was clean but the carpeting is very worn and there are lots of scuff marks on the walls. There was a heat wave during my stay and the fans helped to cool the bedroom down at night. If you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs to offset the street noise (especially if you want to keep the windows open in summer). The kitchen desperately needs some window coverings. It was roasting hot in there due to the morning sun (again during a heat wave) and there was no way to block the sun. The bathroom upstairs had very slow drainage in both the sink and shower. It could be a problem with four people showering one after the other. The second bedroom was tight with no dresser. Ok for a quick visit but difficult for longer stays since you can't unpack. There a a ton of pillows but they are all very worn out. All in all, it's a convenient location if you are in Angel or Islington and it could be a great flat with some minor efforts to address the issues listed here.
Clean, convenient Islington flat
My wife, two teenage boys, and I stayed here for four nights. It's just a few hundred yards from Angel tube and bus station with seemingly dozens of restaurants and pubs. It's also within a 5-minute walk of Waitrose, Sainsbury, M&S, and a Tesco Metro. We really couldn't have asked for anything more convenient.
The living space and kitchen are on the first floor, above an office, with two bedrooms and a bath on the next floor up. Though we were there in early July, we did not find the flat too hot or stuffy. The main bedroom is a good size, the second smaller, but there's plenty of space for four, and the beds are comfortable. There's no window in the bath, and the shower is quite small, but the water pressure is good, so about what one would expect of a small flat in a major city.
With the flat right on Upper Street, we expected some road noise, but we were surprised to find that it wasn't intrusive. For a couple of nights, the upper front bedroom window ajar, and we slept without incident.
Check-in was quick and convenient. The flat was clean and had all the amenities described.
When we return to London in a few years, I hope this flat will be available. We'd book it again in a heartbeat.
Communication with the owners was excellent throughout! We had a great time. Excellent location right near the Angel Tube Station. Great area with shops, pubs, restaurants.
I think I would rate this apartment ~4.3 stars, but precise star rating is not available. Our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children ages 11 to 13) stayed here for 5 nights and enjoyed the apartment overall and would stay hear again next time. Here are the pros and cons.
--location is in the heart of Angel, a very lively borough with many outstanding restaurants, cafes, pubs, within 2 blocks
--it is half a block from bus stop and 1.5 blocks from the Tube station (Zone 1). Both the Tube and buses take you to all the high-yield places (eg Westminster, Leicester square, etc). I suggest taking the bus at times as it is both cheaper and provides excellent view of the city; it is only slightly slower than Tube for most destinations
--check-in process was seamless
--apartment had good layout, with 2 bedrooms on 3rd floor and living room with futon on 2nd floor; first floor was entry only
--the apartment comes with most amenities you need, including washer/dryer machine (all in one)
--if you are a very light sleeper, this apartment may not be for you. You may hear buses and garbage trucks / delivery trucks late night / early morning. Also the first floor is a property management company and they open around 8:30 am, so you may hear them opening doors if you wanted to sleep in. This was not a problem for us because we are not light sleepers and left the apartment early on most days; also if you enjoy a bustling city scene, this apartment is perfect
--bathroom sink and shower drains a little slowly, which can bother some people
--the condition of the apartment is very reasonable but is not "new" or very fancy, so if you are looking for an upscale place, this is not for you. We had not problem with this.
Great location and very friendly staff!
