About The Owner

We're an Irish/Hungarian couple with three children. We started our family here and have lots of amenities for younger guests too. Eventually the time came to relocate abroad and that's how the holiday rental opportunity came about.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2007

Why The Owner chose Budapest

We bought the apartment to be our home in Budapest during our 6 year stay in Hungary. From the ad we knew the location was spot on - just on the borderlands between the quiet, residential second district and the bustle of the city centre. Indeed the river is a mere 10 minute walk from the front door.

We'd both lived in Pest on the East side of the river and so really appreciated the new-found quiet in the evenings that our new apartment would afford us. At the same time we were glad we were only minutes from the amenities of the downtown. No need to move to the sticks to bring up the kids and we could stay close to family and friends.

What makes this apartment unique

When we saw the apartment we decided straight away that this was it - even though it needed a major renovation! The high ceilings, the great use of space, the unusual angling of the walls and the large bay windows, make this a very bright airy but 'natural' space to live in.

Brilliant Base in Budapest

  • 5 of 5

I have nothing but praise for this apartment. It is in an excellent location, 10 minutes walk to the Danube and 2 minutes to a tram stop which pretty much takes you wherever you need to go.The apartment is charming, spotlessly clean and comfortable, with just about every facility you need. Even though the temperature was in the 30's during our visit, it was always a cool, safe, quiet haven to return to. The owners were wonderfully helpful and welcoming:from the enquiry process right through to being greeted they were a mine of information. We have rented many apartments in Europe and this was one of our favourites. We are adamant we will return to Budapest one day and could not hope to stay anywhere better. Thank you so much, Gordon and Kati!

Owner's Response: Thank you Helen for choosing our apartment and we’re delighted that you enjoyed your stay there. The high ceilings and thick walls of this spacious period apartment keep it cool and airy in the summer months. The same thick walls, and an excellent heating system, keep it warm and cosy in the wintertime.

A lovely property in a lovely location.

  • 5 of 5

Gordon and Kati provided very useful information before our departure on how to get to their apartment and how to reach the tourist spots once you arrive. We were met there by a family member, shown round and all our questions answered. The apartment itself is clean, cosy and it was very comfortable and exceptionally spacious for our party of three adults. The apartment provides all mod cons and the good sized kitchen contained alI you would require should you want to cook.

It is in the perfect location, within walking distance of the main tourist attractions, yet very close to the excellent public transport networks. It was a haven to return to at the end of a busy day sightseeing.

We felt very well looked after here and felt that Gordon and Kati took a genuine interest in our enjoyment of our holiday. Thank you to them!

Perfect apt, beautiful, great location

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was lovely and well equipped. The location was perfect with great restaurants close by. We enjoyed our welcome and loved meeting the family. Starter items were greatly appreciated after our long journey. Recommend to everyone.

Even on hot days cool breezes from courtyard allowed great sleeping. Very quiet neighborhood.

Hungarian GP

This apartment is very pleasant to stay in. It's quite large, in a 1920's building, quiet and secure, and you feel that you are in a 'normal' part of Budapest, as compared to the more touristy areas.

That said, it's easy to walk around Budapest, and there is a tram line at the end of the street if you need it.

Perfect Space, Even Better Location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and two daughters just spent a month in Budapest, staying in this cozy apartment. Everything is new and up-to-date, the apartment stays cool even in the summer heat, and the location cannot be better if you want to stay away from the crazy crowds that tend to assimilate during the summer months. A quick 5-minute walk and you have everything you need - stores, transportation, parks, ICE CREAM :)

Gordon has prepared tons of detailed information that makes your arrival, stay and departure seamless. I cannot say enough about how well organized he is and how he went above and beyond to make sure we had everything planned and ready for our arrival.

Great stay, we will definitely stay again!

Apartment in pleasant building is charming, comfortable and situated in quiet upscale neighborhood. Two bedrooms, one was for children with two single beds and a crib. Fans were welcome addition. Lovely gentleman host was very helpful. Our only advice would be to invest in some new bed pillows and linens. Tram at bottom of hill from apt. is best transport mode if you can figure it out. We took taxis, which were sometimes difficult to hail, especially on weekends, when they are not all working. Our host had to call for one for us back to the train station.

Owner's Response: We’re glad you enjoyed your stay in our apartment. The 4/6 tram at the bottom of the hill is a great way to get into and around the city as it runs every 6 minutes during the day. Along with its sister night-bus (No 6) it provides a 24h service. Inside the apartment we work to ensure the highest standards, however guest preferences differ and we rely on them to let us know of anything we can do for them - during their stay. We are available 24/7 for this.
