This location is unbeatable

  • 5 of 5

If you're trying to decide on a location to stay on Oahu, you should definitely choose the North Shore if you are looking to get away from the tourist/city feel. Haleiwa is an easy 45-55 min drive from the airport and has the best relaxing beach/surfer vibe. We stayed for 5 nights in Late March. This property is wonderful and perfect for a couple. The location is PERFECT - you're 30 seconds to the beach walking down a small set of stairs from the property to the sand. From the rental, you have a beach view (and as one reviewer noted below, there is a rooftop that is in sight below but its really not an issue unless you're looking for a full unobstructed view of the beach). The unit is a really comfortable and clean studio with an open and simple beach theme. Stocked with lots of kitchen items, fast wifi, cable TV and a nice flat screen that swivels to the couch and bed view. Had air conditioning that was cold and we didn’t need it all of the time but it got humid a few days while we were there. We felt this rental to be very private and so relaxing. There is a great lockbox for the key so you don't need to worry about losing it while at the beach. There were plenty of beach items like soft surfboards, boogie boards, chairs, towels, etc.. It was so great to be able to walk the beach down to pipeline to watch pro level surfers. Its about a 10-15 minute ride into Haleiwa Town for where we enjoyed walking around, a little shopping and eating. We really enjoyed the Beach House restaurant for two great dinners, Haleiwa bowls for acai bowls and Roy's one night for dinner (in the other direction). Can’t say anything bad about this property at all and although the owner Adrienne was sick when we were there (we didn’t get to meet in person) she was so helpful with any questions. Thank you for sharing your sliver of paradise with us and I encourage anyone reading this to not hesistate and book this rental.. if you wait too long, someone else will book it and you’ll most definitely be miss out.

The absolute best place to stay on the North Shore

  • 5 of 5

Let me start by saying that I am not getting any kind of discount or promotion to review this property, because you're going to think that I am based on how much I want to gush about this place.

My husband and I just returned from a week on the North Shore - a trip for our 20th anniversary. Having never been to Hawaii previously, and being obsessed with big waves, this was the area we wanted to come to. I fastidiously looked through all kinds of VRBO rentals, and when I found this one, I kept coming back to it, because it looked so perfect. So nice and new, compared to so many other less beautiful places. We finally booked it, but I figured a lot of the beauty might be good photography, vs. reality.

Nope. This place vastly exceeded our every expectation, and I truly believe we found the nicest place to stay on Sunset Beach. Everything about the house is well appointed, and Adrienne, the property manager, is so kind and helpful. Ask her anything - she has great recommendations for places to eat and see. The beach itself is just mind-blowingly beautiful.

So many amenities. We didn't do much cooking, but the kitchen is well stocked if you wanted to. We used the beach umbrella, boogie boards, and beach chairs almost daily. We fell asleep listening to the waves crashing on the shore, just yards from our window. We walked to Sunrise Shack for bullet coffees every morning.

It's maybe not important to everyone, but the high speed internet is actually high speed. I'm a photographer, and was busying uploading hi-res files daily, and the internet was fantastic.

The location is so close to Pipeline, Sharks Cove, Haleiwa, etc., etc. It's truly perfect. If you've found it and are on the fence, book it now. There is no possible way you will be disappointed in this property. I'm already scheming for when I can come back next. We were here in February, and had lovely weather. Never once needed the air conditioning, but it's nice that it's now available for summer guests.

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 5 days and absolutely loved it. The loft was very clean and well stocked. The views were amazing and heard the surf night and day. We seen lots of surfers from the deck and was fun to watch. We also spotted 4 whales from the deck. The lower level was not rented and we spent every day on the large deck. Beach items included were a plus. Adrienne was easy to work with and rental man down stairs was helpful with local suggestions. We would stay again and hope to come back. Adrienne has a binder with local menues and things to do locally which was very helpful. Ted's was our favorite place to eat. Thanks for sharing your wonderful home. The air conditioning was awesome and glad they recently installed it.

Perfect place for two

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our week stay at Adrienne’s place and she was very helpful with anything we needed. This is an upstairs studio with a wonderful view. There is direct beach access which was wonderful. Tons of surfer watching happened here. There was cold a/c that we only used at night. The temp was good in the place during the day without it, coming from south Texas it was a concern. The bed is a queen size, full bathroom/kitchen minus an oven. Very close by to several food spots. Teds bakery is a must. Only 3/4 miles down the road. Grocery store is also in close proximity. Haleiwa about 20 minutes away which was nice. This place is also over an hour from Honolulu so be prepared for that. Everything was great and we didn’t want to leave. I would certainly stay here again.

Ideal location

  • 4 of 5

On the whole we liked this property and had a great time watching one of the jewels in the Vans Triple Crown of surfing - the great location made for an easy walk to Sunset beach and the contest.

The unit was cute and well represented on the website in terms of the interior, and the interior was comfortable with one exception I'll get to. This is a large (what I assume used to be a house) right on the beach at Rocky Point, and it has been divided into 3 units, one being occupied by a full time renter who is as nice as pie. Our unit was upstairs, and from the photos we thought it was right at the beach, but is in fact at the back of the structure. So the actual view is over a large expanse of rooftop and that was disappointing. That being said, we were allowed to use the lanai on the other unit once the other renters were out, and when the full time renter wasn't using it.

The kitchen was adequately furnished and we ate at home most days. There is a grill outside and we used that quite a bit, so that was awesome. A couple more bowls, plates etc would be helpful for those who choose to cook in. The coffee pot was awesome, and that's important!

Super comfortable bed. Bathroom was good. Lots of beach toys available to use, very thoughtful.

Adrienne, the property manager was very friendly and helpful when we needed a couple items. Thanks Adrienne.

A couple issues - the website states (in amenities section) there is air conditioning but there is not. That's a huge deal for me. We were there in the winter months (aka the cooler time of year) and I felt the unit was too warm, and fans were not adequate to bring the temperature down to the comfortable range for sleeping. I would probably not come back unless air conditioning was added, unfortunately.

And there is conflicting information about the bed. One place says queen, another place says king. In the photos it looked like a queen so that is what I was expecting...but secretly I was hoping it was a king. I'm a fellow VRBO owner, so I navigate the website for a listing thoroughly before I rent and I think a couple things need to be corrected to provide for more accuracy.

We had a great time all in all and I'd stay again, knowing what I know, if they install something to cool the place down.
