About Annie Murphy
Born and raised in NYC. I couldn't love NY and all it has to offer more. I used to be a dancer and owned the first pilates studio in Brooklyn. We are a family of 4 now and live in Florida and NYC. Our apartment is the perfect pied a terre for us! My 8 and 11 year old love coming to NYC and staying in the apartment. The Upper Westside is extremely kid friendly not to mention countless activities for adults!
Annie Murphy purchased this Apartment in 1995
Why Annie Murphy chose Lincoln Square
This apartment has all the comforts of home while visiting NYC. You can cook your own meals or order in every meal. It is an intimate building where your neighbors are very friendly. While walking up to the apartment you might enjoy passing a professional rehearsal or performance in the theater. When you enter the apartment it is a quiet peaceful oasis from the busy city. When renovating the apartment we used some of the best appliances, tile work, bathroom fixtures, bed, couch and chair so it would be a reminder of a great hotel suite. When you walk out the door you are nearby parks, great restaurants and the historic neighborhood of Manhattan's Upper West Side.
What makes this Apartment unique
The apartment has a large Terrace which is a wonderful way to enjoy breakfast in the morning. Terraces are rare to find in most NYC apartment buildings and its the only apartment in the building with a terrace. One of the best wine stores in NYC, Acker Merrill is right next door and 2 excellent coffee bars are located right on the block. A fantastic small gourmet Pizza parlor My Pie opened up a few doors down and a great bagel store Zuckers recently opened a block away on Columbus Ave. 3 amazing Sushi restaurants are only a block or two away. The location is extremely convenient to getting around New York City as all the major subway lines are on 72nd Street and within a block or two. The best parks in New York are 2 blocks away, Central Park and Riverside Park. Riverside Park is on the Hudson River and there is a great walkway on the waterfront. We love the Upper West Side as its filled with beautiful Brownstone buildings and has kept it's unique and charming character.

Great apartment, great location
In the middle of a vibrant neighbourhood, close to every place you need/want, this is a super apartment--nicely appointed, with a very functional kitchen for those who love to cook. Much enjoyed!
A lovely place to stay
We had a nice time staying at this apartment on the Upper West Side. The location was perfect! So close to a nice breakfast place (Le Pain), Central Park, and the subway. The apartment was clean and the patio was especially nice! The owner was very friendly and helpful. She even had someone meet us there upon arrival to show us around. And we had a few questions during our stay and she responded to us immediately. She also had some small necessities available like water, milk, and shampoo, etc. People should be aware that it is a 4th floor walk up, no elevator. And it is above a night club that does get loud. If guest brought a sound machine for the night, it should drown out the noise just fine. We were very happy with our stay here!
Thank you Debbie for your review and it was a pleasure to have you stay in the apartment. I just wanted to clarify that there is a small theater in the building (not a nightclub). Usually the sound does not bleed into the apartment, as most of the shows are Piano based if there is music. We had a problem with one show that played too loud and it has since been cancelled. So sound should not be an issue. Thanks again for your review and very glad to hear you enjoyed your stay.
Great location; attentive and responsive hosts
Some problems with electrical appliances which owners tried to quickly address.
Thank you David for your review. It was a pleasure to host you. Sorry again about any electrical issues. We have since updated the electric in the apartment. So all is working very well!
A nice apartment in a great location
I was very happy with my four-night stay in early October 2018. Nice new kitchen and bathroom. Well equipped with many thoughtful touches such as fresh flowers, good soap and an umbrella for guest use. And it was quiet, even though it's right on 72nd St. The subway is only a few steps away and Columbus Ave. is lined with nice shops and cafes and is an easy walk to Lincoln Center and Columbus Circle. My only caution is that this is more a studio with a sleeping alcove than a true one bedroom. Not a problem for me, but be aware that there is no privacy between the living space and the sleeping area.
Fantastic location!! excellent apt. Within walking distance from all major attractions!!
What a fantastic location. The apt was awesome, bed was as comfortable as the Bellagio Hotel in Vegas! Anne was fantastic about communication and very helpful. Everything your heart desires is but a short walk away!!! Definitely will be back to stay at this perfect little nest!!
A real gem - a foodie's delight!
Everything about this apartment: the availability of the owner to answer questions, the ease of check-in, the apartment itself and the neighbourhood are perfect.
First of all, the apartment is exactly as pictured - a lovely space with all of the amenities of home. The bed is, without a lie, the most comfortable bed I have slept in; better than the one at home. The terrace makes this apartment exceptional: we would go out in the evening to have a glass of wine after a full day of walking and it was like an oasis in the bustle of the city. We would sit and look up at the sky (we have simple needs).
The apartment is, in our opinion, perfectly situated for exploring New York, within walking distance of the Natural History Museum, Central Park, the Guggenheim, the Met, Lincoln Centre and so much more. The subway station is just down the street so we were able to get all over the city in minutes. Not only that, but it is a food lover's heaven with Zabar's and Citarella 5 minutes away, not to mention the many wine stores (one right downstairs) in the area. And so many restaurants!!
But for us, the most important thing is that we felt welcomed here. The kitchen had the essentials we would need like spices, cling wrap, aluminum foil etc. The bathroom had nice toiletries (shampoo and soap) and lovely thick towels. Annie is the perfect host - available and responsive. Every day, we would come "home" and say how lucky we were to be in this apartment, in this neighbourhood.
We would love to rent this apartment again should we come back to New York.
Thank you Annie, for a wonderful stay.
Thank you for your very kind words. It was such a pleasure hosting you. We work hard to make every guest's experience wonderful. It means so much to us that you had such a great time. You are welcome back anytime!!
There is everything from cycling and boating in Central Park to Theater and Jazz performances within 10 blocks of the apartment at Lincoln Center. Enjoy the upscale boutiques of Columbus Ave to the many excellent cafes and restaurants nearby on the Upper West Side. The apartment is also only 2 blocks from Riverside Park which is a beautiful park on the Hudson River. Riverside Park has a great walkway to a nearby cafe on the Hudson River as well as tennis courts. It's a great place to take a walk or jog.
The amazing Museum of Natural History is 7 blocks away and they have a great Planetarium thats perfect for kids and adults.
The Broadway Theater district is one express subway stop away.
72nd Street is very centrally located while also a very nice NYC neighborhood surrounded by beautiful Parks and Brownstone buildings.
