Great place to stay in French Quarter area!

  • 5 of 5

Great location near Frenchman St. Great cafes and restaurants to walk to as well as live music venues. The space was great. Loved having 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Perfect for us! The owners thought of all the little amenities we could have needed. Newly renovated and very clean. I would highly recommend to others.

Perfect location, perfect place

  • 5 of 5

I’ve been to New Orleans several times over the past 30 years. This was my first time staying in the Marigny. Everything about our rental was wonderful - the location, the place itself, and dealing with the owner. You are close enough to all the action on Frenchmen street (and the quarter), but just far enough away where it doesnt keep you up all night. The condo itself is cool and quite spacious (we had 4), and it’s very well appointed and comfortable. Michael was a pleasure to deal with and very communicative. We’ll definitely want to stay here again.

Lake Tahoe

Well located. Perfect for 3 couples.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is well located for Marigny and French Quarter. Perfect for our family of 3 couples. Clean and quiet. We went out to eat so only used kitchen for coffee in morning which was supplied for us. Kitchen seemed adequately equipped Patio was nice and sunny. Wear a hat if hot. There was lots of great local info in a binder. Beds are a little soft for those wanting firm support. Would definitely stay here again.

Car: not necessary

Here is something much more exciting - our local guide book. This is the abbreviated version, the complete 18 page version is waiting for you at the apartment (or I can send it to you via email)! We have created this to give you our local’s view of the neighborhood and beyond!

Here is something quick to get you started! We recommend a few coffee-breakfast spots within a few blocks including The Ruby Slipper, Who Dat Café and Loretta’s (try the famous Sweet Potato Cookie that’s a hit every year at Jazz Fest!). Elizabeth’s is great and just an Uber away. For libations, we recommend the Grand Krewe wine store, and if you are in need of a great burger hit Port O’ Call on Esplanade.

In New Orleans, we call it, “Makin’ Groceries.” And, Mardi Gras Zone is a great example (2706 Royal St.) But, don’t judge a book by its cover! They have everything - organic, kosher, a great wood fire pizza oven, deli, fresh baked breads, and tons of crazy Mardi Gras stuff and souvenirs. The New Orleans Food Co-op (2372 St Claude Ave) very cool place with parking around back. Organics, smoothies, amazing coffee from around the world. Take a walk through the Healing Center and check out Fatoush for some good Middle Eastern food. St. Roch Market is right across the street and is full of good stuff, local food court style restaurants, and sometimes farmer’s market. The French Market is great too! Local food court style restaurants, fresh veggies, crawfish, oysters, hot sauces, and a lot of other local goodies. And, an open air market that is a mix of flea market and street bazar.

Alois J Binders Bakery the real deal New Orleans style French bread. Grab a hot one and eat it right out the bag. Also, coffee and donuts every morning. Loretta’s try the famous Sweet Potato Cookie that’s a hit every year at Jazz Fest! Or the Praline king cake every Mardi Gras!

Walgreens is one block from the apartment on Elysian Fields they have some staples and groceries, plus beer, wine, and liquor. CVS and the Family Dollar are right down the street too on Elysian Fields.

There are tons of great options for New Orleans food within walking distance. Yelp! can help with the more famous options. But, here are a few that you might never hear about: Check out the fresh local food and unique cocktails at Maurepas or Elizabeth's breakfast or lunch (praline bacon, yum!). St. Roch Market is full of good stuff, food court style restaurants, and sometimes farmer’s market.

Coffee/ Breakfast

Try the Ruby Slipper right on the next block of Burgundy! Who Dat Café is a short 2 block walk. We love Eat and Satsuma too.

Port O’ Call on Esplanade – best burger and stuffed baked potato, An absolute hangover cure!!

We recommend the Grand Krewe wine store. Don't forget to visit Bacchanal it is hard to explain, but imagine an old-style German beer garden married to hip wine store? On Poland Ave. - great wine, live music, and casual outdoor dining featuring an amazing rotating menu of small dishes. “It’s All Right.” says Matthew McConaughey. (He spent a lot of time there during the filming of his latest movie.)

Take out

Feel like staying in? Tons of places deliver to you, including Verti Marte (poboys and anything else you can think of including booze in the middle of the night), Sukho Thai, and Wasabi Sushi right on the corner!

Late Night Food

For late night food with vegetarian options Thirteen is always a great choice. Rare Form on the corner of Esplanade and Frenchmen has great traditional New Orleans food served till 3am most nights, they also have Saturday and Sunday brunches from 9am-3pm. Be sure to visit Cafe Negril for live music and a fantastic taco truck turned grill with reasonable prices where you can score a pineapple pork quesadilla or a giant taco salad (you can even grab it to-go!). Dat Dog for some delicious and crazy New Orleans sausage and hot dogs! There are food trucks on and around Frenchmen every night. If you see Taceaux Loceaux bypass all other options, get in line and dig in!

Music: Frenchmen St.

The music and food of Frenchmen Street is a must since you can see Frenchmen from your front door! You can’t go wrong at Spotted Cat or DBA (both our favs) or Blue Nile, Maison and many more.

Music: Bourbon Street and The French Quarter

There are tons of places playing live music along Bourbon Street. You are guaranteed to have a great time, but the is ONLY one Preservation Hall (726 St. Peters St.) Founded in 1961 to protect, preserve, and perpetuate Traditional New Orleans Jazz! It is the real deal and will change your ideas of the music and culture of New Orleans forever! Or party like it’s 1799 at Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop, housed in a red-brick cottage dating to the mid-1700s. Or, catch alternative bands at One Eyed Jacks.

Music: St. Claude

For a little extra excitement see what's happening on Saint Claude Ave from indie-rock to killer Karaoke!
