Hot tub, Wood Stove, Sleep Number Bed Amid Tree Ferns Near Hawaii Volcanoes Park

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,432 sq ft
Property type house

About the property

2 bedroom, 2 bath with hot tub, wood stove, spacious kitchen among tree ferns

This lovely and comfortable house is cozily nestled in the rainforest in the heart of Volcano Village, Hawaii, less than three miles from the entrance to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. A wall of windows brings the rainforest right into the living room, with tree ferns, orchids, and ohia trees. The comforts of this home include a spacious kitchen, hot tub on the lanai, Select Comfort Sleep Number bed in the master suite, wood-burning stove in the living room, WiFi, and much more. Weekly or monthly rates are negotiable.

Eruption update: The lava breakouts are about 20 miles away from Volcano Village, where our property is located. Under normal conditions, gases and fumes are blown in a different direction than from the lava area toward Volcano Village. Further, over that distance, any gases would be so dilute as to not be an issue--with the possible exception of for highly sensitive people. Of slightly more concern are the emissions from the Kilauea Summit Crater which is just under 4 miles away. Some gases are released from there but are typically not an issue in Volcano Village because the prevailing winds blow them in the opposite direction. Recent explosive activity, which may continue for a while (such activity lasted for about 2 1/2 weeks during a similar event in 1924), has expelled volcanic ash, some of which has been deposited in Volcano Village, but most has been blown in the opposite direction. The ash is not toxic, but should be avoided. Currently, the main section of Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park is closed due to the potential for explosive activity, which can project larger rocks within the near vicinity of the crater. Our property photos include a map that shows the location of our property in relation to the volcanic activity.

As a new listing, we are short on reviews, but here are some comments from our guestbook:

"Lovely, cozy house. We stayed in the house longer than we planned. Have to changed itinerary because everyone likes here. "

"Superb experience. We rent often in Volcano. Best one yet. "

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

The property was beautiful. It was very clean and well stocked. I needed to contact the owners on more than one occasion because of the recent volcanic activity. Kevin and Tim answered each of my questions and were helpful each time I contacted them.

We really enjoyed coming back at night and using the hot tub to rest our weary bones after hiking all day.

There was one little issue that had nothing to do with the property or property owners. There were earthquakes going on while we stayed on the property. It was very scary, never having experienced one before. The house windows and items on the walls would shake at least 10 times per day. Some were longer and stronger than others. Again this had nothing to do with the the property owners or the property itself, but I felt it was something to mention.

Nice home. Could use updates on decor, kitchenware and flooring.

The owner was responsive to questions. It was not disclosed to us that before our stay there was a long-term tenant with a large dog. The entire place smelled like wet dog, especially the carpet, couch and the large bean bag in the living room. There was dog hair all over the couch and chairs. We were also not notified that a large excavator and rock-crusher would be clearing out the property next door to us, basically ruining the peace and solitude we have expected in Volcano in the past 2 visits.

Owner's Response: We regret that you feel that your vacation was ruined. As a good will gesture, we returned a portion of the rental fee. We had no foreknowledge of the excavation being done nearby, nor did we have any control over it. We are taking steps to remedy the dog situation, and subsequent guests have found the property clean and pleasant.

Volcano village condo

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this condo in the Volcano Village. It was an excellent location to explore the volcano and surrounding area. We loved the hot tub and my kids were so excited to see your huge selection of movie dvd's. It was very cozy too and the kitchen had everything you need to prepare our meals. We found the best Thai food at the food truck down the street from the condo.

Great house near Volcano National Park

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful house in a rain forest setting Very comfortable and spacious. Owners have provided wonderful tub, wood stove, dvds, and a beautiful setting. Only 5 minutes from Volcano National Park. We wish we could have stayed longer. Great for a family get together or just for relaxation. Would highly recommend.

Great Place for Volcano Visit

  • 5 of 5

The house is very convenient to Volcanoes National Park. It is clean and well equipped including several matching umbrellas for renter's use. We never took them along, but one day wished we had! The hot tub was fantastic after a day of hiking. The full sized washer and dryer were great to have. The beds were comfy and bathrooms were clean. There is wifi and plenty of dvds, but no television service. This was not an issue for us as we checked news and weather on our tablets and phones using wifi. The owners were excellent to deal with. They even contacted me after my stay because a charger was left behind. They mailed it to my home! I highly recommend this property!
