Berkely Hills cottage
There's a very nice view (partially obstructed) of the San Francisco Bay from the deck. The side deck was overlooked by a beautiful flowering tree whose dropped petals made it seem almost snow covered. Even though the cottage is in a neighborhood it seems very private and secluded. It's convenient to downtown Berkeley, the U.C. campus, and the famous Chez Panisse restaurant.
You must like cats! The two residents are very friendly, the brother more outgoing than his shyer sister, but both are very loving.
Perfect base for my daughter's move in to Cal
Great location up in the hills and only 15 minutes from the UC Berkeley campus. It was the perfect alternative to a hotel room.
Great location and property. Cats? Not so much.
My wife, son, and I loved the location (especially the proximity to Tilden) and the house itself. It was perfect to both enjoy the San Francisco area as well as get away from it. The only negative is the cats. We were completely prepared for the care taking aspect (feeding and litter changing). What we were not expecting was the neediness. The cats expect to be loved constantly and will bang on the doors all night if you don’t let them sleep with you and headbutt you if you aren’t paying attention to them while you are awake. If you are a hardcore cat lover this won’t be a problem, but be aware.
Charming, Comfortable Home
We enjoyed staying at this lovely home in the beautiful Berkeley Hills. The house was very clean and provided all that we needed. Also, had a great time with the cats! Elizabeth makes herself available if needed.
Cozy, quiet and a lovely setting
This place looks even better than the photos. We liked staying in someone's house, rather than a generic rental. It was fun to have cats around as we lounged about and enjoyed the view. True, the streets are narrow and winding, but the driveway makes parking easy.
Tilden Park has hiking trails, an historic Merry Go Round, a children's petting zoo, a restored steam train for children, a swimming Lake, mountain biking and great views of the San Francisco Bay. We are within walking distance of Tilden Park. We are also within a short drive/bus ride to downtown Berkeley, which boasts a thriving arts, theatre and restaurant scene and one of the leading public universities in the USA, the University of California, Berkeley.
