Great stay for outdoorsy type family or couples

  • 3 of 5

The yurt was a new experience for us and was interesting. It was more of an outdoorsy situation than my family is used to and there were some BIG spiders in there at times. It rained most of the time we were there which makes it hard to sleep from the sound so make sure you check weather forecast haha.

It was very good location to be away from main downtown but still close enough to drive to stores or go to the beach. A little hard to find the turn in spot on the driveway though, but after you come and go a few times it gets easier.

Overall it was a nice place to stay, but i wouldn't recommend young kids go with you unless they are camping enthusiasts. The wifi didn't work at all and my city kids were not happy about being stuck inside in the rain without even access to Netflix or any thing to entertain them.

Owner's Response: Access to WIFI has never been an issue at Sally's Yurt; we wish you had informed us so we could have addressed it! Too bad about the rainy weather during your stay; that must've been a huge disappointment! Curling up with a movie or a book in front of a fire would've been perfect. Other guests have mentioned how they found the sound of the rain on the roof to be soothing while feeling cozy and warm inside the yurt. But it's true, that is not for everyone. Spiders? We do our best to keep them at bay by maintaining a clean space which includes destroying their habitat on a regular basis. Sorry your stay was not as you expected. Sally's Yurt offers a different kind of experience for those who are open to it.

Had a great time in a relaxing, quiet and welcoming experience in Sally's Yurt. Nice place to stay with kids with good outdoor space. Really enjoyed the deck for sitting outside in the evening too.

Owner's Response: We were happy to be able to accommodate your family of five, a first for us! It was great to see your children play badminton on the grass in front of the yurt and happy to see you fully utilize our deck under the over hanging cedar and fir trees! You seemed so content and, of course, that was our goal!

Really nice, relaxing and great location

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in Sally's Yurt for 4 nights with my son. Sally and Quinn were super cool laid-back ladies and made us feel very welcome. There were lots of really nice places to hike and swim in the area and even some cool places to do a little 4x4ing in our Jeep. It was close to downtown Courtney but still in the woods a bit. Overall a great place to get away!

Owner's Response: Jen and Oliver were the perfect guests! They were a "go with the flow" son and daughter duo and accepted an invitation to sit around the fire pit with Sally's family as Oliver played with Sally's grandson. I love that they explored the local terrain in their 4x4 and jumped into cutting wood for a fire in the wood stove. Your beautifully drawn "octopus comment" in our guest book warmed our hearts! We hope to see you again! xo

Best sleeps here in 8 nights!!

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I were very comfortable and felt that the two nights we slept at Sally's Yurt were by far the best restful sleeps we had during our whole 2 week holiday. It is cute, quiet and very unique. It is very clean and well maintained. I would totally recommend this stay if you want the feel of country but are still in town limits. We come from a rural setting so this made us feel right at home! Just sorry we missed seeing the eagles above the sky dome window.

Thanks Sally and Quinn

Owner's Response: So happy your experience at Sally's Yurt was so positive, Lynn! Your comments about locale and proximity to Courtenay makes us feel our first year as hosts has been the right decision. Sorry about the lack of eagle above the yurt; we may need to update that information on our listing to reflect their change in behaviour. I think it was your who bought us our guest book which was extremely generous and thoughtful and far beyond the call of duty!

Außergewöhnliche Unterkunft

  • 4 of 5

Owner's Response: I wish I could read German; maybe I'll ask a German friend to translate! We enjoyed your stay and found you very good guests. Sorry we weren't able to provide you with a BBQ but we hope to have one in place by next summer, our second year. Best wishes and thank you for staying with us!
