About Missy Taranto

We have lived in New Orleans for 15 years! Moved here with the intention to stay for 4 years, fell in love with the architecture and food and have been renovating and eating our way through Nola for 15 years! There are festivals for everything, so it is always a good time to visit, something for everyone whether you like the nightlife of the French Quarter or the quiet of the plantation tours; or do both as you eat as much as you can of the best food in the country!

Missy Taranto purchased this apartment in 2012

Why Missy Taranto chose Faubourg Lafayette

1717 Carondolet is the perfect location to enjoy all that New Orleans has to offer! You can jump on the streetcar on St Charles and go to the French Quarter, World War II Museum in the CBD (central business district) , shop the 6 miles of unique New Orleans specialty shops like Belladonna, Hemline thon havé lunch on Magazine Street at Lilette or Boulangerie then savour a homemade macaroon and gelato at Sucre! Catch a quick nap and get dressed to dine like you are a local in the Riverbend at Gautreau's or Shaya's or go casual and get the best po'boy at Magazine Street Poboys or Domilises or crawfish at Frankie and Johnnys!

What makes this apartment unique

Enjoy the comforts of a total renovation in an 1850s historic row house. Only 1 apartment on each floor! Beautiful antique heart pine floors throughout, gleaming granite and stainless in the modern kitchen which opens to the spacious entertaining area. Each bedroom has private en suite marble bathrooms! And this apartment has a private courtyard! Centrally located Uptown just minutes away from everything! We hope you will be our guest and laissez les bon temps roule!

Great house

  • 5 of 5

The property was great for our stay. The house was clean and met all our needs. Everything in the Garden District was easily accessible as was downtown. The beds are very comfortable.

Perfect for 3 couples or large family - very clean + comfortable bed & bath

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 nights - perfect location away from hustle/bustle yet still close to everything. $8-10 Uber XL to Bourbon St / Frenchman St, or walk 1 block to take St. Charles Street Car which goes to Garden District/Uptown etc. We took Street Car 1st day, but it was hot and the cars were filled (Holiday weekend) and ended up ubering after that. Whoever wakes up first should take the front bedroom, closest to the kitchen. The back 2 bedrooms are quietest, and there are sound machines in all the bedrooms although we didn't need to use them (nice option though!) This apt is laid out very nice for 3 couples, you will all have privacy. Owner Missy is very responsive to any needs. We highly recommend this property!

House was lovely and great location

  • 4 of 5

Home was located just one block from trolley stop which was perfect. Buy the day passes! House was great for three couples with everyone having separate spaces. We were not there very much as we were exploring the town. My only complaint would be no reserved parking; there is street parking first come first spot. Missy is so easy to work with and responded to all my questions immediately! I would stay again:) love Nola

Beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

Accommodations were very lovely and clean. Three bedrooms and baths were perfect for six adults. Enjoyed the great room and use of updated kitchen and other ammenties. Location provides easy access to all main attractions and recommended sites. Neighborhood is up and coming and at first may be of concern, however, we were able to walk to restaurants and to the Street Car and always felt safe. Missy and Scott were delightful to work with and checked in with us daily. We would definitely return and enjoy another stay! It was a terrific weekend.

Beautiful remodel and good location

  • 4 of 5

Our group came to NO for the French Quarter Fest. We traveled as 3 couples from CA for 4 nights and very much liked the apartment. The neighborhood was quiet and very close to the trolley on St. James. Restaurants and even a drug store were convenient. Two of the bedrooms were large and accommodating but the 3rd was much smaller but doable. We were on the bottom apartment. Missy, the owner, was very responsive to a problem with noise from the apartment above us the first night, 6 woman very loud late into the evening partying (the apartment on the 3rd floor even said it was loud to them also). Because it is an old remodeled building the floors were a nuisance every night. It seems the "girls" would start stomping around the apartment in high heels for at least 2 hours from 10 pm to 12 am each night getting ready to leave for the evening and then stomp down the stairs to leave. It almost seemed they walked non-stop on purpose to bother us. They then would dribble in from 3:00 am all the way to 5:00 am coming home. Not only was it a nuisance trying to go to sleep, they always woke us up coming home. The last evening we were there was a pleasure with no noise because they went home!!!! Missy did try to help by supplying each room with a "white noise machine" but unfortunately they did not help much.

Owner's Response: We are so sorry that the guests on the 2nd floor were so noisy! We have never had that happen before and we will do our best to make sure that it doesn't happen again!

Nearest Airport
12 Miles
New Orleans (MSY) Louis Armstrong
Car: not necessary

The easiest location to enjoy the best of the Big Easy! We are centrally located 1 street off of "THE" Avenue- St Charles, where you can hop on the streetcar and explore the French Quarter all the way to the River Bend neighborhood (Tulane and Loyola Universities), starting with brunch at Camilla Grill or Satsumas then strolling under the century old majestic oak trees that grace the mansions of the 1800s, get a little (or a lot) of shopping on Magazine Street (6 miles of uniquely New Orleans shops and boutiques); treat yourself to the best brunch at Commanders PAlace or go casual at Frankie and Johnnys with local crawfish, oysters , po'boys and fried alligator! Back to shopping and a quick homemade gelato at Sucre , drop your bags at the apartment and walk or streetcar to the World War II Museum or a little gambling at Harrahs then decide on the Aquarium, Riverwalk Outlet Mall or the French Quarter! Seriously!!! This is why you need to stay for as long as you can! There is so much to do in New Orleans, you must come and see for yourself! Don't forget about our Audobon Zoo, Natchez Riverboat and the short excursions to the many plantations a short drive down the scenic River Road! Our apartment gives you the luxury to relax while being centrally located to take In whatever brings you to the Crescent City! This apartment is one of three luxury apartments (only one apartment on each floor) in this totally renovated 1850s historic row house and all of the comforts you would expect in an upscale home away from home! Be our guest and enjoy A vacation like you won't find anywhere except New Orleans! Please notice the name of the street has just been changed to Robert C Blakes! (Just for our block of carondelet!) We like to change the names of the streets from time to time!
