Overview

About the property

Newly Renovated 4 Bedroom, 2 1/2 Bath With Wonderful Open Kitchen/Great Room

You won’t find another vacation rental like this one in Sawyer, Michigan—or anywhere else for that matter. This urban chic cabin, a ten-minute stroll from the shores of Lake Michigan, is a design enthusiast's dream getaway with every detail down to the reclaimed fixtures contributing to it's whimsical aesthetic. The owner, a professional interior designer, worked his magic here, and you’ll love the end result.

Located on a half acre lot on a wooded lane with a fenced back-yard, this home boasts four bedrooms, two & one-half baths, and one large, open common area with vaulted ceilings, bountiful seating space, and a wood burning fireplace. Chat with the cook at the custom barn beam island as they prepare dinner in our well equipped kitchen (complete with two ovens and zinc countertops), then gather around the oversized dining table to enjoy it together.

After dinner, grab a bottle of wine and choose from several seating areas, including a cozy sunroom, screened in front porch—or the sprawling back deck with gas grill. The rear yard has been designed with privacy in mind with both landscaping and privacy screens in place. And, in the chillier months of autumn and spring, the 8-person hot tub and a fire pit ringed with Adirondack chairs keep you toasty--though these are wonderful to use all summer as well!

Sleeping arrangements include three king-sized bedrooms—including a master with attached bath w/ dual sinks— and a bunk-bed room that’s perfect for kids (and adults who want to relive summer camp). The king bedrooms include flat-screen TVs. The house audio system keeps your toes tapping regardless of whether you're inside or out.

The master bedroom boasts a private door to the rear yard, and an en-suite bathroom with dual sinks & a bath tub. Like all of the rooms in the house, this suite is furnished with local and vintage pieces for an extra personal touch. The other two bedrooms share a bathroom, and there is a powder room for everyone's use as well.

The property adjoins Warren Dune State Park, one of the largest state parks in Michigan, while nearby Lake Michigan provides a romantic beach setting to watch the sunset. The charming town of Sawyer has plenty of restaurant options for a special evening out. You’ll also find an assortment of antique and specialty shops within a few miles of the home.

The photos speak for themselves. This vacation rental is a true gem. Make it the setting for your next Harbor Country retreat—please inquire for further details!

Leases weekly-only during high season. Off-season rentals can be flexible--please inquire. Monthly options available in off-season.

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Not enough stars to rate this delightful house. The layout was perfect and the décor intriguingly quirky and fun. The Great room was, indeed, great. Enough space to accommodate everyone in a relaxing manner (even the dog). The bedrooms were roomy and the beds extremely comfortable. And, for the cooks in the family, the kitchen was a dream. Enough plates, glasses and flatware for a large party and every conceivable kitchen need for food prep. The yard was large and peaceful. The house was beautifully maintained. The problems we had were quite minimal and were tended to immediately by the owners. The trek to the beach was not an easy one. However, the younger set did not seem to mind it. One caveat is to not park your car under the pine tree along side the driveway. Spent several hours cleaning off tree sap. With Sawyer Market, Barneys, and Flagship in Lakeside we ate out very little. Flagship, by the way, makes excellent fish and chips and that was our farewell dinner. This house is highly recommended.

Great home!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with a few friends (and 3 kids) and the house was just right. We had enough room for every family to not feel crowded. The pocket door separating the bedrooms from the living space was great! Although the kids (ages 3, 6 and 18 months) had to get used to stepping over the threshold and the 1 stair separating the living/ kitchen - it was fine. The kitchen was perfect!!! Had everything (and more) we needed! The deck and hot tub in back were also just wonderful. Tim responded very quickly to any questions/ concerns we had and was extremely helpful with everything we asked for!!! I would recommend this house just based off our experience with Tim.

The walk to the dunes/ beach was a little bit more then just a "walk". I would almost call it a hike (gravel road and a hiking trail where we had to walk through water knee deep). Although it did only take 15 minutes with the 3 kids (and a stroller) it was more then difficult (and maybe that's because we were all over 35 : ) We were all also wearing flip flops and carrying toys, a cooler, etc. But glad we ventured out there at least once (worth it!). From then on we went to Cherry beach down the road (maybe a 5 minute car ride). That was amazing! Park and walk about 60 stairs down. The beach was close and clean. We spent everyday at the beach. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to relax in a nice clean home with a nice backyard setting and close to the beach. We did drive into New Buffalo one day (and we all decided we'd rather stay in Sawyer). We ate at the Greenbush brewery twice! Would go back for sure!

Thank you again Tim!! We look forward to booking with you in the future.

Owner's Response: So glad you had such a good stay!! We look forward to having you back in the future. Fall and Winter are wonderful in the area as well, so keep in mind ;) The extreme rains this year have flooded the beach path a bit compared to normal, though with the check-in instructions I did update the walking directions from the initial info with another option that takes you totally through flat/dry land right through a side entrance to Warren Dunes. Especially with a stroller/wagon, this is probably the best way to go all the time, so definitely keep in mind for upcoming stays!

Fabulous home, location, nearby adventures

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this wonderful property over fall break. It exceeded our expectations. The house is absolutely five stars - clean and beautiful plus very practically organized and furnished. We had one rainy day where we just hung around cooking, watching TV, and playing card games. The open plan and varied seating worked well for that. The kitchen has everything needed for cooking, and one nice feature is a door that closes off the bedroom hallway from the main living space so children (or adults!) who like to take naps or go to bed early are not disturbed by the rest of the group. We also enjoyed the deck, hot tub, and fire pit each evening after our adventures. Even though you are close to neighbors these areas are perfectly screened so it is a private space.

The location is great as well. The walk to the beach would be a bit long for small children but ours (10, 12, 14) enjoyed walking or biking to the dunes with us each morning. It is also just a nice little neighborhood to go for a walk and enjoy looking at other homes and gardens. Sawyer is a great little town with a farm market-like grocery store and nice restaurants all around. Obviously the Warren Dunes are right there, which we enjoyed, but our two favorite adventures were hiking at Grand Mere State Park and kayaking in Galien River County Park.

I would very highly recommend this property and Tim's care for his guests. We will be back for sure.

Great place for family and entertaining

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at this beach home! Our first family getaway was a great experience. The long butcher block in the kitchen and various sitting areas worked well for our family. Slept great - The beds (and pillows) were super comfortable and there was a tv in every bedroom. Tim, the owner, was very responsive and always helpful. A 10 minute trail walk to Warren Dunes, 20 minutes to St Joespeh and great local pizza. We highly recommend this property and plan to head back ourselves!

We really enjoyed our stay in this house in Sawyer.

  • 5 of 5

Our son got married in Bridgman MI and the location of the house as well as everything the house offered made the weekend go very smooth. The owners have thought of everything and the house was very comfortable and we would definitely stay again.
