This Hollywood Hills Spanish stunner, previously occupied by an A-list actor, was built in the 1920's and retains its original details and charm. It is located on one of the best streets in the Hollywood Hills---a wide "no outlet" avenue--heading straight up. This "canyonette" is home to some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry.
The house has been styled to perfection: for both comfort and utility. The grand dining room table easily seats 10. Indoor and outdoor fireplaces add drama and are frequently used by the owners and guests. The media room is state-of-the-art. The entire house is powered by the Sonos This house has its own resume, having been used as a backdrop for the TV show "The West Wing," various commercial shoots and on the pages of major design magazines.
There are three bedrooms in the main house...
The Master Suite--with its spectacular view of the Hollywood Hills and the city lights beyond, this spacious suite has it all. A steam shower in the deco master bath, a smart flat screen tv, an easy to operate (and very romantic) gas log fireplace, a private office--park your laptop on the desk there and try to get anything done--the spectacular mountain view is designed for daydreaming. Off of this office is a gigantic walk-in cedar closet with an island and a mini-fridge--stars don't schlepp down to the kitchen if they need a drink at night; why should you? Depending on your carrier, from time to time you might be a bit cellularly challenged in our Hollywood Hills. Not to worry--there are three landline extensions in this suite---one bedside, one office side, one "throne" side in the bath. The icing on the cake, is a balcony that overlooks the pool, tennis court, outdoor kitchen/lounge area and the hills beyond.
The "Princess Suite" (aka Bedroom 2) has a queen bed with a custom headboard. It has a 50" smart tv, surround sound and a DVD player, a seating area and, what every prince or princess needs, a Juliet balcony looking up into the hills. This bedroom shares a full bath with the office suite across the hall. It also served as Debbie Gibson's green room when she graciously performed at the house for an Autism Speaks benefit.
Man/Woman/Kid Cave Plus: If you need a place to hook up your laptop to a GIGANTIC monitor, spread out your work on an oversized, highly stylized steel desk (one that was rescued from the garage and refinished after the A-Lister abandoned the poor thing; his loss, my gain), and be drenched by sun by two walls of windows and double skylights above, this "cave" has all the creature comforts you need. This spacious suite features polished concrete floors, a "vintage" 50" plasma screen tv (also left behind by said star), surround sound, a wet bar and an extremely comfortable queen bed. Of course guests are free to access the HP all-in-one with WIFI capabilities during their stay and the private outdoor patio just outside this room. The fountain in the patio area, along with two gorgeous models was featured as the lead photo in a Harper's Bazaar Interiors 11-page feature on the house (google "Harper's Bazaar Interiors Back to Our Nature" to see a behind the scenes video of the shoot--it's pretty cool and offers our guests the "before" of the backyard prior to the Viking Professional Outdoor Kitchen was installed).
Rounding out the upstairs is a full bath with tub. Plenty of hanging storage is available for both bedrooms as are hair dryers, a steamer, an iron and an ironing board.
The backyard has a casita with 3/4 bath, that was built to resemble a ship's cabin. It comfortably sleeps one, in complete privacy from the main house. The boat house has many a nautical feature--starting with two porthole windows, teak finishing throughout and storage cabinets galore. It's 3/4 bath features a rain shower.
An Outdoor Oasis like no Other
Our guests are consistently blown away by the backyard due to its breathtaking views, and incredible amenities--a huge pool, a sunken paddle tennis court and an unbelievable outdoor kitchen with an oversized built-in grill, double burners, two refrigerated drink drawers, a separate food fridge, a warming drawer, sink with disposal and an ice machine. The counter space alone is roughly the size of an aircraft carrier. All of the appliances you'll be cooking with are top notch from the Viking Professional series.
No expense has been spared in making this house both an idyllic secret retreat, yet one that is located, quite literally, five minutes from world-famous Sunset Boulevard. The Dolby Theatre--where the Oscars are held--is but a 15-minute hike down the hill. It is centrally located to all that LA has to offer and yet a world away.
See for yourself!
