This pretty stone-built villa is set in a beautiful Mediterranean garden and is secured by electronic gates. The property is located on two levels and has ample parking. The first level has 2 double bedrooms & 1 twin/triple bedroom. There are 2 bathrooms (1 en-suite), a living room with double doors opening onto terrace. On the lower level, there is a large oak fully equipped kitchen with seating area & separate dining room, both looking onto the garden and pool. Adjoining the kitchen, there is an office/playroom/bedroom (sofa bed) with shower room and a laundry room with toilet and washing/drying facilities. There is an large outside dining area and a lawn with children's play area & climbing tower. Pool is 60 m2 with easy access for kids in shall area. There is a very relaxing Moroccan-style pool house with daybed style seating. A pizza oven and barbecue area adjoins this. This would make a perfect holiday home for a family

Garden: The garden is a Mediterranean garden which includes palm and yucca trees (please take care with small children), together with fruit trees. The garden will be maintained by a gardener once per week (included). The Garden has a play area for children and a barbecue area with gas fired grill and a wooden fired pizza oven.

Pool: It will be serviced/cleaned once per week. There are appliances available, if required, for daily cleaning. There is a pool house for relaxation with day beds, seating and an equipped kitchen with fridge and tap water.

Children Play Areas: At the rear of the property, there is a lawn area with children's play house and toys.

At the rear of the garden, there is also a climbing tower.

Fists of all we wanted a house close to a village that was not overly touristic. We wanted a short walk into the village, we wanted a pool and we wanted a great view. All this + closeness to the attractions of being in the heart of the Riviera with all that is going on. We found it all in La Calade :)

Lies in an authentic area where you come far enough away from the tourist machine of the seaside - yet close enough enough to get to the beach in 15 minutes and less than 10 minutes from the highway. This is a very comfortable home - the 3 bedrooms are not huge but adequate - the kitchen is large and fully eqipped. We were 2 couples. House could also conformably accomodate grandparents, parents and 2 children. There is well functioning wifi and TV with English channels. The best part of the house is the back area which includes a pool, bar-b-q, and patio table with stunning views of St Paul de Vence, which is just a 10 minute car ride away. The house is in a very good location - close to NIce and Nice airport, easy driving distance to Antibes, Eze, Monaco, Cannes and San Remo in Italy. You can walk to the local town of Col Sur Loup where there is a market and other amenities. A large Le Clerc supermarket is a 5 minute car ride away. There is also a very large shopping center nearby as well as the town of Cagnes sur Mer. It is 15 minutes to the beaches. Many excellent restaurants. We had a great week exploring all of these places. Weather during our stay (Oct9-15) was ideal. skies and temperatures in the 70's .We would like to add a caveat about the driveway into the house which is not photographed on the website. The gated entry is quite narrow, accessible with a remote control but as it is so narrow and the driveway pitches down quite steeply to the circular parking area (plenty of room for 2 cars) not that easy to maneuver - especially when getting out. There is quite a bit of traffic on the road outside the house so we usually posted someone outside the gate to give the go-ahead that it was safe to come up the steep hill and drive out. Owners were very amenable and easy to work with - the property manager was available and quick to respond when we had questions or any issues so all in all we recommend this property fully. Great place to enjoy the Riviera and all it has to offer! Merci Beaucoup!

Beautiful villa with view of St Paul-de-Vence

We had a great week here - with no car! The supermarket is close by, and within 1km there are a selection of good French restaurants. The pool is fantastic, we spent our days swimming and enjoying the views, and air-con in the rooms ensured good sleep. Highly recommended!

A Bit Disappointing

Our experience was mixed. Booking was easy. The owner was very responsive & accommodating via emails. Before our departure we received information from the house manager on directions and how to contact her upon arrival to meet for orientation. It all was good starting out. The place looked beautiful in the pictures and it was. We asked if the house could be ready a bit earlier and she was not able to accommodate. Fine. We met her at the house at the agreed upon time, were let in, given keys and openers, quick tour around, an apology that the previous guests left loads of trash and that trash cans were full outside. She was in a big hurry to leave and before we knew it she was gone. We requested the pool to be heated in advance which we were told had been done. The manager, Nicky, said she tested the water and it was very warm, about 85 degrees F. When we went out to go swimming the water was colder than cold. We needed to do some laundry as this was not our first stop so we looked around and no laundry soap! We were told to call Nicky if we needed anything and she would get back with us. We called her and she said there was soap. She told us where to find it but still no soap. We had also asked for hypoallergenic pillows in advance of our arrival and when we got there all but one pillow had feathers. When we called, texted, emailed, Nicky she went radio silent and did not communicate with us at all until the morning we left when she came to get the keys. I gave the one pillow to my daughter and made a pillow from the limited number of towels we had been allocated for use while we were there. (Were were told that our towels were in the bathroom.) There was exactly one towel for each of us for a total of 3 towels. Wow, how generous, especially since we had no laundry soap to wash with when they were dirty! Skimpy on toilet paper, total of 3 rolls and 2 were not full, and hand/shower soap only in one bathroom. She showed how to use the locking system on all the doors and the bars on the windows. BARS ON THE WINDOWS AND DOORS! We were told that this neighborhood gets broken into frequently and that this property has not had that problem but we should be very careful. Not where I would like to spend my vacation worrying if we will get broken into. All in all it was a place to sleep but I would not come back for the price!

Owner's Response: I am very sorry this guest was unhappy about her stay at Calade. We really want our guest to enjoy the house and feel safe at the property. As far as I can understand most of the concern is about unmet expectations with regards to the service level. Let me make a few comments: This rental was only 4 nights and I therefore understand the disappointment that provisions for washing, toilet paper etc was not sufficient. We usually rent out by the week and then our policy is to provide for necessities for the first 24 hours. As this was a four night stay I can see this provisioning may be an issue. I think the disappintment may be a result of expectations other than what is in the terms published at the homeaway website, and I am very sorry the communication may have insufficient. With regards to pool temperature then we heat it up to 26* Celcius (80 F). For some people this may be too cold. We can heat up to 28 Celcius, but then this has to be requested specifically and this was not done in this case. In fact heating to 26 Celcius was agreed upon. Next time I will definately make sure to quote the temperature also in Fahrenheit so there is no misunderstanding. With regards to pillow then I am afraid we have a limited number of hypoallegeniic pillows. With regards to security and bars on the windows and doors then I do not think our house is very different from other houses at the Riviera. Most houses have cast iron bars to make unwanted entry cumbersome. From our point of view we are proud to offer a house with secured gate, doors and windows. This means that you can leave the house in relative comfort. Although I think it is wise to not let irreplacable valuables lie around unprotected. Also I would be careful to make sure my passport and ID papers were kept safe at all times. As we see it, we offer a very high service level compared to others offers on the market. In this case unfortunately this was not enough. Let me also add that our house manager can make more provisions for the house upon request prior to arrival.

Great villa in Côte d'Azur

We stayed here in July/August of 2013. The villa was great for our family of four with 2 small children. The house was close to Nice (~20 min), yet far enough to be away from all the traffic. Many smaller villages surround the area and are easy day trips from the villa. The house itself is great for families. It's well maintained, has lots of children's toys and amenities and of course the pool was fantastic to cool off after a hot afternoon. We enjoyed lovely evenings on the 2nd floor patio looking out over the next village. The air conditioning was great in the bedrooms and upstairs living room. The first floor was cool in the late afternoons as well. Occasional mosquitoes, but they didn't stop us from enjoying the outdoors. Recommend for families looking for a quiet place close to many activities in the Côte d'Azur.

Immaculate Home from Home in the Sun

We stayed here in August 2009. We are in early 40s and we had with us 3 teenage boys (15, 17 & 17). It's a 15 minute drive from the airport and on arrival we were met by the local English agent and were all very impressed by the standard of the accommodation. The pool house is lovely for whiling away the afternoons with a book and the pool is kept beautifully clean. The house is fully equipped, even down to pool towels, plug in mosquito repellents, products in the bathrooms and bags for your shopping. There's not much you need to bring. The owner Rachael was very helpful prior to the holiday in getting us info on transport, local area etc. The view of St Paul Vence is magnificent and turns dreamy pink as the sun sets. We sat many times on the terrace with a glass of wine just gazing at the view. The only niggle we had was that there is only air con in 2 of the bedrooms and as it was 30+ degrees every day, we could have done with it in the living areas. Our sons and their friend used the train station at Cagnes sur Mer to get to the lively resort of Juan Les Pins and to Cannes. One of the trains was very fast and efficient and one was slow and hot - they weren't sure how to determine which one was which, so if you can speak any french it might be an idea to ask.

We visited St Paul Vence which was a very nice way to spend an afternoon, especially as there was a wedding going on in the centre. It is slightly on the comercialised side, but we enjoyed it all the same. There is a mobile Pizza van which stops by the supermarket in La Colle Sur Loup and we can highly recommend those! Don't forget the mosquito repellent for by the pool..we used lots!

A really memorable holiday which we didn't want to end. No hesitation whatsoever in highly recommending this will love it!

La Calade is located on the edge of the ancient village of La Colle sur Loup which is famous for its artisan community and boasts full amenities. The medieval village of St Paul de Vence is a 5 min drive. Both villages, together with nearby towns of Vence and Cagnes sur Mer offer a great choice of restaurants and local markets. La Colle sur Loup is an excellent location for outdoor activities for both adults and children, as well as being central to all major tourist attractions, and is within reach of Nice (15 mins), Antibes (20 mins), Cannes (40 mins), Monaco (45 mins) and Italy (1hr). There are many private and public beaches in the area, with numerous public golf courses.

Golf: The nearest Golf course is in Villeneuve Loubet. There are also courses in Valbonne, Opio and Mougins.
