About Melinda Bucy
Upon our dad's passing six years ago, my sister and I inherited this property. Our Aunt, whose parents purchased the property in 1961 is in the photo with us as we shared the day at a bridal shower. We've enjoyed years of celebrations and created lots of wonderful memories.
Melinda Bucy purchased this House in 1961
What makes this House unique
The view captivates your attention and adds a smile when you take your first step out of your vehicle. You get the cozy, warm, welcome feeling as soon as you open the sliding door to the house. Fun place to relax with family and friends. Sweeping view of the lake and Mt. Baker in the distance. Covered deck for reading, or watching boaters and swimmers. Just over the hill from I-5, quiet, peaceful.

Great lake and cabin
My family stayed for four nights and had a great time. The cabin is nicely outfitted and has a very large great room with a panoramic view of the lake and a fantastic deck where we spent our evenings. The cabin was very outfitted with fans, towels chairs and everything else you could think of including spare tooth brushes and other toiletries.
Melinda was very pleasant and helpful and was always available when we needed assistance.
Big lake is a very warm lake but is also very busy. If you are boating, it gets very congested and the water ends up getting very choppy. We would not hesitate coming back and probably will next year.
Beautiful property and amazing owners! Thank you 🤠
Beautiful property! Had an amazing time. Owners were responsive and welcoming! Will come back again 🤠
Beautiful place on the LakeThis
This place is awesome, I could live here all year long...We had a great time, it was perfect...My step daughter came from Norway with her 2 kids for my daughter wedding it was nice to relax on the lake for a few days before the wedding ...The evening were peaceful and so quite, we had visitors of 4 deers coming down to the lake...it was beautiful....the house was very very nice inside and they had everything for you to make your stay comfortable, I only have good things to say about this rental...I already miss it...
We have had the opportunity to stay at this wonderful getaway on a number of occasions. This newly remodeled home has all the amenities one needs for a quick getaway or an extended stay. The beautifully appointed furnishings and decor clearly exemplify owner's pride inside and out. The bedrooms are spacious and very comfortable. The open concept of the living room, dining area and kitchen lends itself to great entertaining and family interaction. The view alone takes your breath away. We enjoy watching the eagles soar, the beautiful views of Mt. Baker and the reflection of the hills and night lights on the glassy lake. The occasional deer will stroll through the property. Overlook Golf course is conveniently located right across the lake. There is a cute store right down the road that is great for last minute sundries and has a little cafe inside as well. You can set your watch to the church bells that softly ring from across the lake every Sunday at 9:45am. The lake is great for every kind of water sports from skiing, paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, fishing or just floating. We've spent many evenings roasting marshmallows at the fire pit located on the spacious lawn that we played lawn games on earlier that day. No matter what the weather is like there is always so much to do or just not to do...cuddle up with a blanket next to the warm fire and watch the storm outside work it's way across the skies, relax on the expansive covered deck with a good book listening to the birds, head down to the dock and take a dip in one of the cleanest and warmest lakes around, enjoy your favorite t.v show and/or movies or surf the internet. Whatever your idea of vacation is, this location definitely has it. We like to call it our home away from home. This place is very accommodating to people of all ages and needs. We pretty much just "show up" without bringing much with us because it has everything we need. The property is conveniently located just far enough outside the city, yet still close enough to shopping, golfing, hiking and even Skagit Casino! Big Lake Bar and Grill has live music and great food and drinks. We have chosen this location for bridal showers, birthday parties, family reunions, couples retreats or just a quick get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. You will not be disappointed with this lovely retreat...in fact, you probably won't want to leave. Can't wait to go back!!! Thank you for sharing your slice of paradise!!
