Why Property Manager/Owner chose Rye
The house sits on the Long Island sound. With expansive views of the Sound and distant bridges towards NYC. The sound of the waves provide the background for a relaxing sejour.
What makes this House unique
The house has an interesting history built by a movie mogul in the 1900's by movie mogul Spyros Skouras, who was then the president of 20th Century Fox. Among his movie credits is the film Cleopatra which starred Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton who stayed in a guest room at the house.

A true and rare waterfront treasure
The pictures don't do this place justice. What an incredible location. This beautiful home was built in the 1920’s and still retains its elegant architectural features while having modern conveniences. The place was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the dining room was huge. Did I mention the wonderful views of Long Island Sound were stunning? The pictures don’t do this place justice. It’s a real gem. We hope to return next year. Everyone loved it. We had our family stay with us and it was just a charming experience. We brought the family boat up and docked it nearby. There is a dinghy dock that is accessible even in low tide. There was also a propane grill that we prepared our big family dinner on. The neighborhood is first class and something only a few people could ever afford. We highly recommend this home and experience.
Great views and garden
Spacious jouse in great neighborhood
A Wonderful Experience
This was a Special weekend for our Family and we couldn’t have chosen a better house with such amazing history and Family Memories.
From reading the history of the home and then several connections we had uncovered it made it an Extra Special weekend. Thanks again for letting us share your home with us.
grand historic place on the water
property has interesting history
the home is very large with great entertaining areas
big yard on the water
patio area on the water great to hang out
able to use kayak in the mamoranek harbor
owner very helpful
Better on the outside .
Lovely views outside, but not much has been done inside in many years . The beds had old mattresses- not the most comfortable. Shower curtain missing from master bath. Overall, despite the charm , the comfort level was less than expected .
Not as expected
We were a sailing team of 5 and rented this property for a week
Some things were great and others not as expected for the price range
I'll just list it as pros and cons
Beautiful location - the view out the back was stunning
Large areas for visiting
Quiet and close to town
Owner provided a snack and water and milk in refrigerator which was pleasant to find after a long day of travel
Communication prior to arrival was difficult-owner did not respond timely and all communication occurred with my initiating it-we also have a Home Away rental and know how communication is to occur-guests like to be acknowledged by more than an auto response from Home Away.
The Master bed is listed as king - it is actually two twins pushed together - not comfortable
The Master bath is not set up for a shower-so if you're ok with a bath only it's ok....this did not suit our needs
One of the bedrooms - has two "twin" beds over the garage - however, they are actually more like a junior bed - not really suitable for an adult
We had an issue with the Master and other upstairs bathroom sink not draining....the owner responded quickly and addressed it that night....however, we were left for two days with unusable sinks in both baths
Overall it was a lovely location....the actual housing portion did not meet our expectations
