Overview

About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 baths, sleeps 6

Hale Pali (Cliff House) is a spectacular (non-smoking) OCEANFRONT home overlooking the blue Pacific. We heartily agree with our guests who have enthusiastically stated: 'there is nothing that compares to actually being on the water' - what better way to enjoy the sound of the waves, and the smell of the sea air.

The home is beautifully and tastefully decorated and features teak furniture.

You will love cooking in the fully equipped, Rick Hartman designed, gourmet kitchen.

You can keep cool by taking a dip in our 3,000 gallon 'natural' (unheated) lava-pool or just 'chill' while lounging and sunning yourself on our small private white sand beach, you may also choose to kick back in the comfort of our shaded hammock.

If you need to stay connected you can do so via FREE WIFI.

A perfect day begins while sitting on the sea wall, sipping Kona Coffee, and looking out to sea. You will be amazed by the spectacular “blow-hole” that adds to the OCEANFRONT splendor of our seaside home.

If you are looking for 'off-the-beaten-path relaxation. We think that the serenity you will find here makes the 45 minute drive south from Kona Village very worthwhile.

Feeling of home

  • 5 of 5

This home, amenities, hospitality of the owners, view, comfort were all absolutely fantastic. It's an hour from Kona so quiet and overlooking the ocean. Close to amazing snorkel areas as well. If you have family who get car sick just a warning the road to the house winds a lot with many switchbacks so just be prepared. Nothing dangerous just hard on delicate tummies. We loved it so much we are contemplating retirement here on the big island. What a gem!

Absolutely beautiful view of the ocean and gorgeous sunsets!!

  • 5 of 5

We really loved our stay at Carl and Deborah Ramsey's home! The house was so beautiful, sparkling clean and smelled wonderful! The house was open when we arrived and the wonderful sound of Hawaiian music was playing. We arrived on June 14, 2017 and stayed until June 21, 2017. Our two daughters and our teenage grandson and granddaughter were able to see Hawaii for the first time. Our family is all about making memories and we made many more in Hawaii! The view of the ocean was breathtaking. We were able to see dolphins, a sea turtle and two sharks from the sea wall. We loved sitting on the lanai and enjoyed our meals there as well. The lava pool was so refreshing! We had the pleasure of meeting Carl and had a very nice conversation with him. We hope to come back again with our family and bring our younger grandson this time. Thank you Carl and Deborah for making our family feel right at home!

Absolutely beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

Pictures of this place do not do it justice. It is absolutely beautiful. Cannot beat the view. Please know there is a significant drive on winding roads to get to this place, but it is worth it. After a full day of sightseeing it was so relaxing to sit on the lanai. Make sure to bring bug spray, as you are near water. The adult boys loved fishing from the edge of the property. The pool and beach area were a great touch. Loved getting to see dolphins play in the ocean right in front of the property.

Awesome

  • 5 of 5

I felt like I was staying at a 5-star resort. We had a group of 6 adults. The home was spacious and the lanaii and various outdoor seating areas were like added rooms to the house where you could go for a different perspective of the ocean or for privacy. This house is off the "beaten trail" but you are not isolated. There is quiet and privacy on all sides. The sunsets are spectacular. The house had every utensil, amenity and supplies that you could need from wine glasses to books and games to binoculars- everything! The owner Carl stopped in to say hello and make sure everything was going smooth. Our next leg of the trip was over to Maui. We were a 15 minute walk from the ocean for a house renting for the same price. The home is a winner in all respects. Mahalo to Carl and Deb.

Even better than the pictures!

  • 5 of 5

I suppose I had prepared myself for some kind of disappointment with the actual house, but it was even better than the pictures! Some of the furniture has been upgraded, and the view goes so far and wide that I was gobsmacked each day.

We had two families staying together (four adults and two 7 year old boys who shared a room) and we got everything we needed at Hale Pali. We enjoyed the remote quality of the neighborhood. The road down the hillside was time consuming, and did make members of our group car sick. And the mosquitoes were insidious. But these were small sacrifices for the comforts of the house and the uniqueness of the location. The kitchen is amazing, the furniture is comfortable, and Carl is a responsive and excellent host (he quickly came to repair a screen door which one of us pushed through accidentally). The lava pool is fabulous and deeper than it looks. It stayed a remarkably comfortable temperature (IMHO, but I am from New England, so may have a lower temperature threshold). And on our last full day we had an amazing opportunity to watch a pod of spinner dolphins dance and play.

Although remote, as others have adeptly described, we found that this placed us in a great location for the things we wanted to do: HVNP, hiking in lava tubes, kayaking and snorkeling at the Captain Cook monument, and visiting a couple terrific beaches. It was a relaxing and delightful vacation. If I am ever able to return to the Big Island, I would 100% want to stay at Hale Pali.
