What makes this Studio unique
The property abuts the former residence of the naturalist John Burroughs. The land is still little changed from the time that Burroughs lived in this area and still preserves much of its natural beauty. Nearby are many wonderful restaurants especially thanks to the multitude of CIA graduates who upon graduation often like to remain in the region. Kingston, New Paltz, Poughkeepsie, Rhinebeck are all close. Numerous wineries are nearby as well.

late 19c mansion, full of quirks and charm
the location is truly ideal. a short walk down to the Hudson. large house with lovely furniture and all the amenities. there's a billiard room, and the yard goes forever, with an amazing zen garden. theres a warm feeling throughout. really enjoyed the food Lori left for us. the house has quirks, like the front door doesnt close unless you use a key, and that bathroom ceiling is low.
overall, i certainly recommend it, and i'd stay there again.
enjoyed the historical area of the Hudson River.
The space in this home was just what we needed to relax and refresh ourselves.
would love to return next year.
Gorgeous antique paneling, wood-burning fireplace, expansive grounds, terrible bathroom
This could be a wonderful property with lots of antique charm. Our dogs were thrilled with the wonderful grounds with the Hudson River in the distance. But the bathroom is truly terrible. We could not stand up in it, we could not use the shower (ok for just two days), the lighting is dim...so unfortunate. The kitchen is old-style but has charm and works fine. Redo the bath and now you're talking.
We did everything possible to accommodate this guest, allowing her to check in early, bring her dogs etc. There were no surprises, she knew that the shower is low for taller folks but wanted to stay anyway!
The river view home, gardens and studio are absolutely wonderful. A walk down to the river, you can rest in a hammock along the water. An absolute treat, evoking a time long gone. Lorie is friendly and so knowledgeable about whatever you may need in the area. There were provisions for the morning ( milk , coffee or tea ) and the little kitchen is well equipped. Surrounded by great hiking, restaurants, and history. Just perfect.
We love this place!
Of the places we’ve stayed in the Hudson Valley, this one is among our favorites. Others have described the lovely house and setting. It is indeed wonderful. We had everything we needed. Our hosts were kind and accommodating. It’s a great location for exploring the Hudson Valley or simply relaxing in the unique surroundings.
Peaceful gem of a space with high ceilings, lots of windows, beautifully done. Cozy, nice people.
The house is one of the old 1800's mansions still there on the riverfront Hudson River. With rolling lawns and a garden, further on is a path through the woods to the river front. My beloved dog Dozer really enjoyed chasing sticks into the river. Everybody I met around the house were very kind and helpful. I can't wait to go back. In fact it's the best place I've ever stayed. There's even an eating area outside for the person staying there or you can eat in the kitchen. The bed is very comfortable. And the TV is a very good one. I hope to see you soon the people at Vinecroft
We love that you so appreciate our beautiful spot along the Hudson!
