Gorgeous hilltop home

  • 5 of 5

We arrived late at night and weren't immediately aware of what a beautiful place we had rented for a week. This three-story large home oozes charm and authenticity, from the hearth in the dining area to the chiming of the church bells to the fabulous view from the terrace off the third-floor master bedroom. We were mere minutes from any place we wanted to go in St. Paul (admittedly, a small town), and always enjoyed returning to the calm and comfort of our temporary home. We particularly appreciated the large kitchen and the two bathrooms... amenities we had not found in other rentals. Guy is an attentive and conscientious host, and went beyond the call of duty to ensure us a pleasant visit. The time flew by far too quickly --- wish we could have stayed another week!

Owner's Response: Many, many thanks Carol for these very thoughtful comments. I do aim at making my guest's stay a pleasant one and it is rewarding to see that I sometimes succeed. It was nice to have you both on board and I hope that our path cross again in a not too distant future. Best regards from sunny French Riviera Guy

Perfect location in a beautiful village.

  • 5 of 5

One of the best locations in a beautiful village in an area with fabulous places to vist and explore.

We stayed in a lovely house and enjoyed breakfast on the balcony with stunning views, the bonus being warm fresh bread and croissants from the bakery a minute away.

The house owner Guy, is a really nice man, reliable and friendly making you feel it's your home from home.

Great holiday! Looking forward to going back.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for such a laudatory appreciation. It was a real pleasure to host such a nice party. People like you will always be welcome in St Paul de Vence and in this house. If that turns out to be the case in the future it may give me a chance to exchange more with you. Dee: continue to take good care of the passengers! Guy

A wonderful experience

  • 4 of 5

We can only reiterate the very positive comments already made about Guy, the property, the village and its people.

Unlike others we did not hire a car, although managed to explore perfectly well using public transport (bus and train) as far afield as Monaco; the Tourist Information Office in the village can advise and provide timetables. You can purchase a card for 10 journeys (for use on the number 400 bus only) which works out a little bit cheaper if you intend using the bus as many times as that.

Also, if like us you wish to do the whole self-catering thing, the town of Vence, a short bus ride away, has a market, supermarket and lots of other little grocery shops hidden away in the back streets.

Wonderful!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous week in this charming home. The whole house is lovely and the terrace view is fantastic. It is the perfect home in the perfect setting! If anything, the house is lovelier than photographs can convey.

We usually stay at B&Bs or hotels, so this was our first experience using Home Away. Fortunately, the owner made this a wonderful experience. Despite slow banking transactions between the US and France for the initial deposit, the owner reassured us that we still had our reservation. He trusted us. When we arrived, he met us at the established time, despite the town being busy on a Saturday. He told us everything we needed to know. How to navigate our car inside the ramparts, the features of the house, neighboring shops, restaurant recommendations, and best of all, introducing us to the neighboring bakery and the owner of the ice cream shop nearby.

The owner told us that it was our "home" for the week, and that is exactly what it felt like. Staying within the ramparts allowed us to imagine ourselves living in medieval times. If we wanted to saunter through the village with the other tourists, we could. If we wanted solitude we could always retreat to “our” house and its lovely balcony where we enjoyed quiet mornings and evenings. We also enjoyed cooking with fresh produce from the town market.

There are many other side trips one could make. We enjoyed our time in the village so much that we made few of these. We did make an interesting side trip to the perfume museum in Grasse and walked to the Foundation Maeght on the outskirts of town. A town with much history - Chagall lived and here and is buried in the town cemetery.

Excellent!

  • 4 of 5

I had an excellent stay at this house in Saint-Paul de Vence. The owner was very helpful, hospitable, and accommodating, from the initial inquiry all the way through the end of stay. I also met some of the neighbors and they were all friendly and helpful. The house is quite spacious and exactly as described, although the photos don’t do justice to what the place actually looks like. For a property right in the middle of a busy village, I found it quiet and peaceful.

On a practical note, the house is split on four different levels (including the lower level where the laundry machine is), so there is a lot of going up and down the stairs for anyone staying here. In-village parking could be a challenge, especially for someone like myself who is used to wide streets and giant parking spaces of California. Whenever I needed to park my car, though, I did find a space just minutes’ walk away.

For me, one of the best things about staying here was that I was able to just “go home” right there, in the middle of the village full of tourists, pretending to be a local. And I think I actually got a taste of the local way of life, too. It was such a great experience that I will most definitely stay here again on my next trip to Côte d’Azur.

Gemütlich und mit Charme

  • 5 of 5

Many thanks for your kind appreciation. It's been very nice to have you on board. Your stay was too short to go around what our area has to offer. Come back, St Paul would like to see you all again. Guy
