3 BR 2 BA secluded log cabin on 3 AC near Road ATL, Chateau Elan Resort & UGA
About Susan Rogers
I grew up in a small town near New Orleans. I attended Loyola Univ. College of Pharmacy and I practiced retail pharmacy for 34 years--1st in La. and finally in Atlanta. Standing on hard concrete those many years was hard on my feet and legs, so I decided to try a sit down job by going into the wireless business with my son. Back then in the mid 90's it was pagers or beepers--no one could afford a cell phone. Of course the industry changed and we changed with it. We eventually became Nextel and then Sprint Agents and had numerous retail stores. The downturn in 2008 hit us hard as it did most other folks and we shed our retail business and turned to wholesale wireless. I've basically been an entrepreneur most of my life. I watched my Grandfather and Father run their small businesses, so it just seemed natural to me. When I moved up to Buford, Ga. the decision to build the Mall of Georgia was being kicked around. I decided to invest in a building we were renting and the subsequent sale of that led me to keep investing for the last 20 years. I also turned to the travel industry as I was really a gypsy at heart and always wanted to turn down the unknown road.
Susan Rogers purchased this Cabin in 2001
Why Susan Rogers chose Braselton
I literally stumbled on to this property 18 years ago when I decided to see what a "for sale by owner" might be down a long gravel driveway. I first came to a cottage (which turned out to be a 2BR and 1 &1/2 Ba home. As I looked further I could see a red roof through the tree tops and assumed it would be a barn. To my surprise it turned out to be a 3BR 2Ba log cabin with 3 wrap around porches. It was such a pleasant surprise to see these beautiful buildings sitting on 3 wooded acres completely hidden from view, that I immediately exclaimed "This place is awesome--I'm going to buy this--and I did. In my opinion, this is a one of a kind special place that is so close to the convenience of civilization yet feels so distant and like far away places you dream of going. I've never changed my opinion about it. Somewhere along the road of life I came to understand that I always want to be looking at woods or other natural views. This place fits the bill completely. The 1st thing you see is woods and the last thing you see is woods. Perfect. Because I travel so much, I thought that while I'm away, I'd share my home with others who might feel the same yearning to commune with nature. One day I plan to retire here completely, so please enjoy it now and treat it lovingly as if it were your home.
What makes this Cabin unique
Does quiet and serene for a few days to just relax, be quiet and unwind appeal to you? But it's such a hassle to arrange to do it? Most places you go are several hours drive or flights away and when you get there there are lots of people and often no peace and quiet. Being only Two exits north of Mall of Ga.( exit 115), 7 one mile from the Chateau Elan exit # 126 on I-85, 7 miles to Road Atlanta, 45 min from Univ of Ga in Athens or downtown Atlanta, this secluded log cabin is a sight to behold. When you sit on one of the porches you only see woods. There are no crowds--only the people you invite to come with you. There are 8 deck chairs and they are light enough to take down to the fire pit and roast marshmallows or just stare at the fire and be mesmerized. It's a great place for those deep conversations with friends and family that we sometimes engage in if we're lucky and take the time to just sit still. If you allow yourself, by the 1st turn in the gravel driveway you will begin to feel the tension drain and a sense of calm and tranquility will start to come over you. The mood will be set for relaxation. Of course when you're ready for activity you can drive 1.2 miles over to The Chateau Elan Winery and Golf Resort. There you'll find wine tastings, tours and fine dining,. Music and dancing on week ends are a treat. There is a wonderful spa, tennis and an 18 hole golf course. On Hwy 211, is a Publix grocery and numerous small stores and tasty restaurants between 1.2 and 5 miles from the cabin including Waffle House, Burger King. Pizza, Italian , etc. An Ace Hardware is further on up the road plus Jeffries Sports Bar. ( Hwy 53)-Cracker Barrel, Zaxby's, BBQ, Braselton is known for it's Antique stores and has 2 huge Antique Fests in spring and fall. Many shops are open year round. To the South one exit is another Publix Grocery, Home Depot, a 14 sceen movie , Kohls, WalMart, Dollar Tree and Chili's Restaurant. Commerce has a Tanger Outlet.

We enjoyed our stay at this cabin very much. We will likely stay in this cabin again in the future if it is available. The location is great. It is a very peaceful place and is decorated very well. It has all the necessities you would need.
Home was very nice. Everyone enjoyed themselves.
Was not the best weather but was still a good experience.
Cute cabin but not so guest friendly....
Bring your own bug spray! This cabin is infested with stink bugs! The owner insists she sprays regularly and infestation is only temporary. This is not temporary. These bugs are everywhere. They were in the beds (we even found popcorn under one of the pillows!), the walls, the ceilings, everywhere. We even had to have one person designated for kitchen bug removal while we cooked Christmas dinner! Our most fastidious member, as careful as she was in packing, managed to bring 2 bugs home in her luggage.
Bring your own can opener. The “dollar store” utensils provided are flimsy and the can openers don’t work. As required by the owner, a tablespoon of “dollar store” detergent per wash load doesn’t get your clothes clean, either. You may want to save your laundry to do at home.
Overall, the cabin is cute and was decorated for Christmas, but we won’t be staying there again.
I'm fairly new at this and just recently started offering my log home to the vacationing public. This is my family's retreat and we enjoy it greatly ourselves.
The cabin gets treated for insects regularly and professionally--last on Dec 16th, 2016. I reported this unexpected and unusual influx of stinkbugs to the exterminator and they came back to retreat. While there he did find several dead stink bugs. The exterminator said he has had several complaints recently about this swarming in the area. He researched the issue and these bugs have been migrating into the southeast from the northeast--it appears they finally got to Georgia. We will be vigilant with this new phenomena to keep them at bay.
I've added an electric can opener and hope this helps. I greet each guest personally to ensure they are welcomed and informed about the cabin and what works for me when I'm there. I also point out area shopping, restaurants and attractions. "I only live 15 minutes from the cabin, so don't hesitate to call if you need anything" is what I always tell my guests. My goal is to make sure I do all I can for a relaxing, comfortable stay for my visitors. Susan Rogers
Beautiful, quiet log cabin near Road Atlanta!
We had an absolutely amazing time staying at the cabin! It felt like we were in the middle of the woods though only a few miles from town! It was definitely the most convenient option for my team as we were in town to work the race at Road Atlanta. The house offers awesome amenities for both business and leisure travel. Susan was an amazing host, very detailed and attentive:)
We'll definitely be back next year!
Thank you, Liz, I was delighted to have you and I'm so glad you enjoyed yourselves. I look forward to your return next year. My lovely and comfy log cabin is definitely a one of a kind place in and around Braselton, Ga. Sleeping 6 to 8 people, it sure beats staying in a hotel room. Take care.
