Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, Sleeps 6

Come away to the mountains! Our location is at an elevation of 3800 feet in the southwest corner of the North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains. Here you are away from it all – the city, the noise, the traffic and close to the beauty of nature and the fresh mountain air!

Captiva Mountain Village is located above Lake Glenville, a pristine clear water lake nestled in the Carolina mountains. It spans 6 miles in length and has 26 miles of shoreline and 3 major waterfalls to explore.

Our abode will sleep six, with two bedrooms, a queen sleeper sofa, and one bath with a separate vanity area. On cool nights, the wood burning stove in the living room is a delight. The French doors open out to a large deck with a mountain view; a great spot for outdoor dining. The spacious dining room seats six. The eat-in kitchen is well stocked for your cooking and baking needs. The altitude here keeps the temperature cool and we do not have A/C, which is rarely needed. Fans are available. The gas grill is just outside the kitchen. Make use of the full size washer and dryer in the laundry room. All linens are provided. Smart TV (no cable) where you can access your Netflix, Amazon, and more through WiFi; also phone line with unlimited long distance. We have DVD and VHS, and a library of movies, as well as a variety of games and puzzles.

The cabin is situated on one acre, with ample parking. The location has easy access from the main road. There are many trails and hiking options. We are homeschool friendly with resource books, field microscope, printer, and more to conduct studies of "flora and fauna."

Our small community offers a lake lot with picnic pavilion, beach area and boat dock with boat slips. The lake offers all water sports and three waterfalls to visit. We have lake kayaks and a row boat for your use. Dock your boat at our boat slip during your stay. Signal Ridge Marina on the lake rents pontoons and tritoons and provides for all boating needs.

The closest community is Cashiers, providing many restaurants and all your shopping needs. The area offers colorful wildflowers, rippling waterfalls, mountain views, hiking trails, mountain streams, and quaint shops to explore.

Cabin in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful stay in your lovely cabin in the woods! The view was gorgeous, and the cabin has all you need. (Just a note to travelers, there is no AC which was fine, but remember to put the window fans in the windows upon arrival so it cools the cabin.) We so enjoyed the porch and watching all the activity of the many hummingbirds! Lake Glenville was so fun! Definitely go to the dock for swimming and boating fun! Anne was a great host! Thanks again for a relaxing get-away from the humidity and busyness!

Instant Stress Relief!

  • 5 of 5

As soon as we got to the cabin, I dropped my bags and sat out on the deck, looking at the night sky and breathing the fresh mountain air. I think my blood pressure dropped ten points within a few minutes! The cabin is very comfortable and homey and had enough room for two adults and two teenagers (who need their privacy!). There were plenty of games and movies for entertainment. The home was very clean and had everything we needed. Even though their is no A/C, the fans kept us comfortable - loved the cooler temperatures in the mountains. Although the cabin is not on Lake Glenville, we had access to the lakefront lot where we were able to dock our boat during or stay - it was just a few minutes drive. The lake itself is beautiful and not crowded at all. We enjoyed several meals in Cashiers (a 20 minute drive) - recommend Slab Town Pizza and The Ugly Dog Public House. The owners were very easy to reach and helpful. I highly recommend The Mossy Rock Cabin - even the entrance is cool with lights strung along the staircase.

Owner's Response: Thank you Susan for your review of your delightful visit to Mossy Rock Cabin! It is a bit of heaven! The slower pace is certainly welcome. Our weather has started to cool for August as we are just breaking 70 degrees. We hope the future finds you returning to the mountains!

Paradise found!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Mossy Rock Cabin! Anne and Larry have really created a cozy, comfortable cabin with everything you could want to get away from it all. We loved going to the lake dock for our daily swim and using their kayaks. There is so much to do while staying at their wonderful cabin!

Great location and lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was exactly as described in the listing. Lovely location, very quiet. Very clean and well maintained. The deck is wonderful for morning coffee. Anne and Larry were very responsive to questions. The location is nice with regards to getting into Franklin and Highlands. Lake Glenville is lovely, not too busy when we were there and we felt very comfortable using the kayaks.

Beautiful scenery and cozy cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cozy feel of the cabin and the view of the mountain treetops was beautiful- we LOVED Lake Glenville, esp Kayaking. The weather was perfect and we didn't even notice there was no AC in July, being from South Louisiana that is worth its weight in gold. Owners were very helpful and responded right away when we texted. Loved, loved, loved it!
