A nice getaway
This was a nice house! It has such a home away from home feel! Everything we needed! Jessica was amazing with communication! She made sure everything was great! Looking forward to staying here again!
Wonderful cabin in the woods
This is the second time we have stayed in this lovely cabin. This comdortable hideaway is pwrfect for a wewkend or a longer stay which our family loves over the holidays. We will be back.
Great little cottage
A very cozy and cute cottage that felt like a home away from home. A beautiful wooded area with the gorgeous colors of the fall season was a breath of fresh air when you walk out on the back patio. The cozy cottage was complete with all of our basic needs plus more that went above and beyond. A great, little, and relaxing trip thanks to everything that the cottage provided. Definitely ready to return.
Lovely and thoughtful home
A lovely place to stay in a lovely part of the country! Everything was very thoughtfully set up.
About Jessica Orth
We are a couple in our early 40's, have no children and one lazy dog. We love to travel and see this beautiful earth. As a guest we are low key and considerate. Wherever we stay we like to pretend we actually live in the places we visit. We will cook meals at the houses we stay, we'll watch TV, do a little work (one of us works from a laptop only) but we'll also see the local sights. If I had to describe our hosting style I would say we pretty much expect our guests to be the kind of guests we are. So feel free to cook in our place, kick back and relax and enjoy yourself. But, of course, treat it kindly along the way :)
Jessica Orth purchased this Cottage in 2005
Why Jessica Orth chose Carthage
The cottage was in rough shape when we found it but we knew it had incredible potential. Sitting on 3 wooded acres, a stream running through the back of the property and knowing the "bones" of the cottage were salvageable gave us the motivation to go for it and see where our creativity would take us. And we're glad we did because we surprised ourselves with what we could do with such a small footprint to start with. Eight hundred square feet really pushed our creativity buttons to the next level. It was never our intention to turn this house into a rental - we remodeled it with the intention to live in it forever. But life took some twists and turns and we had to move back to Texas. We couldn't bear the thought of selling it so we did what we consider the next best thing, hosting guests that can enjoy what we have created!
What makes this Cottage unique
Quiet, serene setting on a wooded setting.
