Michelle & Greg
About Michelle & Greg
We call ourselves dual citizens of Brooklyn (our main home) and Woodstock (our Home Away from Home). With peace and yoga in our hearts and a need for a retreat from City life, we fell in love with this house for our own vacations and wanted to share the same with others. We love nature and live a fast-paced life. Yoga alone hasn't been enough to keep us balanced, so we branched out to find ourselves a serene getaway that was a short drive away from the City with our two children and pets.
Michelle & Greg purchased this House in 2015
Why Michelle & Greg chose Woodstock
This house has a small carbon footprint with solar power, Solatubes (solar/sun tube prismatic lighting) and two wood-burning stoves. In Brooklyn, we recycle, compost and do as much as we can in a rental apartment. When we saw the solar panels and all the special environmentally-friendly features of this house, we were really attracted to it. That and the beautiful mountain view and all the fruit trees and songbirds in the yard. Hiking is just up the road and though the hill up the street is steep, the hiking trails are actually kid and dog friendly. This house is close enough to the Village of Woodstock to enjoy all that it has to offer, but just set outside of the scene so that you can relax and just be. That was important for us. Before we bought, we stayed at a lot of places and the ones IN the scene were sometimes too loud and not relaxing enough. We have our home in the City for that! Woodstock has a flavorful culture with lots of food, festivals and special shops. There are drum circles every weekend. There's food, film and music festivals. Some of us are vegetarians and Woodstock and many of the surrounding areas are very vegetarian-friendly. This home is only a mile away from the Village of Woodstock. You can even take the Trailways! The Woodstock Playhouse and Maverick Concerts are even closer. You'll love the year-round activities of Woodstock's flavorful culture of food (very veg and vegan friendly), festivals and special shops. There's great hiking within walking distance. Nearby Uptown Kingston (about 8 miles) is a historical wonderland and a strong art community with many festivals, galleries and restaurants. Saugerties (featuring HITS Horse Shows in the Sun) is an easy ride about 10 miles away. Phonecia is also close by WHERE YOU CAN GO TUBING DOWN THE ESOPUS. The house is central to skiing and snow tubing at Hunter Mountain (35 mins), Belleayre Mountain (35 mins) and Ski Windham (50 mins). We hope you'll enjoy our house as much as we do!
What makes this House unique
We chose this home for its Earth-friendly assets (solar powered, sun tube lighting, wood burning stoves) all the built in book cases, the skylights and more. The all glass solarium reminded us of Wonka's glass elevator and is one of the first things we saw when we pulled up to the house the first time. The mountain view is something we never tire of. Seeing the mountain every morning is a celebration of nature as we sip our coffee in the dining room or pergola covered deck, or even while washing dishes. Flowers and fruit trees in the yard are enjoyable and many of nature's visitors, including deer, chipmunks, songbirds and other feathered friends, including bluebirds, cardinals, robins, bluejays, woodpeckers, finches and hawks have been spotted. The first night we slept at the house, we stargazed from bed in the queen master suite. There is nothing more romantic than starlight and moonlight in bed with the one you love. We strive to keep the house in harmony with the nature that surrounds it. We've added many special touches and features. Some highlights include: 4 bedrooms include: 1 king master suite, 1 queen master suite, 1 queen & 2 twin beds; 2.5 bathrooms; 2 wood-burning stoves; Brand new kitchen stocked with a 5-burner gas stove, water/ice-dispensing fridge, dishwasher, Kitchen-Aid mixer, toaster oven, 12-cup coffee maker, burr grinder, Verismo individual coffee/espresso machine, with mountain views. There are many games and books in the den, as well as a 55" smart TV with Roku, Netflix, HBOgo and Hulu available. New walkway built by a tradition Tibetan Stonemason. Each floor has its own climate control zone for AC and heat! Two Skylights. Mountain views. (seasonally) Less than 2 hours from Manhattan, it's the perfect getaway by car or by Trailways bus. We're just a mile away from the Village of Woodstock. We're less than a mile from Maverick Concerts and the Woodstock Playhouse.

My grandkids, kids, my husband and I all enjoyed our visit to the Woodstock area. There was plenty to do and see for all ages. Sun Salutations was the perfect choice to accommodate all of us.
Woodstock 50 yrs
The property was amazing. The house and grounds were well thought out and if I could choose my next home it would be here. The owners have thought of EVERYTHING anyone might need. Judging by the furnishings, color scheme and "toys" available we would love to meet these people!
Wonderful stay in Woodstock
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The home was very clean and comfortable with all of the amenities we needed. Michelle and Greg were very easy to communicate with and were accessible for any questions. The home was located in close proximity to town and to activities in the area. I would definitely recommend this property and would enjoy stayimg there in the future.
Comfortable, super clean, well-appointed, near everything. We came here as a group of 7 adults for our annual family trip to the Catskills. We enjoyed every part of the house including the spacious back porch with grill and the fire pit in the yard. We had plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen was great - lots of supplies and equipment, excellent stove/oven. We ate in most nights. Michelle and Greg were very responsive and had every detail covered. This is a great location for hiking, as well as enjoying downtown Woodstock and Phoenicia not too far away. We hope to rent it again. Definitely a great find!
Excellent Stay om Every Way
I have been renting vacation homes for the last 10 years and this one ranks on my all time favorite favorite list! From the inquiry process, check in and out process and everything in between, the communication was top notch.
Everything is exactly as pictured and described in the listing but even better in person.
This home is so well thought out and laid out and equipped.
There are instructions and labels and binders that answered questions before we even had them. All you need are your clothes and your toothbrush (and there are even a couple of spares in a cleverly designed and placed mirror in the upstairs bathroom)!
We enjoyed every room in the house - the beds were oh so comfortable and the towels so soft and thick. We enjoyed midnight movies and air hockey in the den. Mom (a retired chef) cooked dinner each night and never once mumbled that she couldn't find a "___" (fill in the blank). The dining room with a view to the yard offered a special treat each day when the deer, chipmunks and birds came to visit. We enjoyed a jam session in the living room and enjoyed relaxing in the atrium before heading out for the day.
We enjoyed the instruments, the record collection, the blue tooth speaker and the board games. The collectibles and decorations around the home were beautiful, interesting and unique - including a few that made us chuckle like Bill Murray and the bathroom pup!
The proximity to where we went (Woodstock, Kingston, Saugerties, West Hurley and Rhinebeck) was perfect. An easy comfortable drive to each area.
All in all, it was a wonderful place to call home each night and the perfect backdrop to our mother daughter weekend. Highly recommended and will definitely return.
Most exceptional home and host!
Not only was Michelle the most communicative and gracious host, she has thought of everything to make her vacation home feel like home for her guests. The attention to every little detail made such a difference. We travel as a family and have stayed at many vacation properties and this experience tops our list. We definitely plan to return.
There are lots of areas to hike in Woodstock, West Hurley, Kingston and nearby.
There are little lakes, streams, waterfalls and swimming holes all around within a few minutes drive and the nature and wildlife is a must see, and really unavoidable in a very good way.
We are just outside of the village, so quieter, but close enough that you can get to the excitement quickly and easily.
We have our own stop on the Trailways just around the corner.
We are just under a mile away from the Woodstock Playhouse and about a half a mile away from Maverick Concerts!
There is a beautiful hike at the end of our block at the top of the hill.
