Absolutely perfect

  • 5 of 5

I had wanted to visit Yosemite for many years and was not disappointed. It is absolutely breathtaking and staying in this cottage made the trip even more perfect.

It is spotlessly clean and very well fitted out with everything you need. It is an easy 40 minute drive to the park entrance (although this took longer on our first day as we kept stopping to take in the amazing views along the way). The town of Mariposa is also an easy drive and has a well stocked supermarket, along with shops and restaurants. It was a beautiful and peaceful spot to return to at the end of a long day exploring.

The owner has such enthusiasm and knowledge about the area, his advice on where to go and tips on avoiding the crowds were invaluable. It helped us to make the most of our all too short visit.

I would not hesitate in recommending this property and very much hope to get the opportunity of staying there again in the future.

gorgeous ,immaculate property

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home just as the listing described. Host Charles met us at check in and gave great advice on navigating Yosemite. Cottage was full stocked with modern appliances and so clean! Close to town for shopping and great food less than a mile away the the Yosemite Bug. You do need to be prepared for a 45 -55 min ride to Yosemite National Park each day but the ride is so scenic it is worth it as is the quiet seclusion of the cottage.Since it sits on a hill star gazing is wondrous!

Peaceful, spacious & helpful, knowledgeable owners

“Peaceful, spacious and comes with helpful, knowledgeable owners”

The cottage itself is somewhere you'd be very happy to live - away from the road, lovely view of the hills from the hot tub :-) We appreciated the aircon after hot days of walking, and the super-nice accommodation, comfy beds and excellent bathrooms. Huge value-add from the friendy, knowledgeable and enthusiastic owners, who were happy to share great insider tips from park ranger experience. Around 40 minutes from the entrance to Yosemite - we were there over the 4th July weekend, so the park was somewhat busy, which meant leaving early in the morning to avoid huge queues, presumably not such a big issue out of season. Booked based on reviews and would happily chose this again based on experience!

Great place, great location!

  • 4 of 5

The location of the cottage is perfect. ~1 hour from Yosemite valley and easy access to and from the park's west entrance. Was also great to be in a quiet location after a full day inside the park. The place was incredibly clean and Charles was an exceptional host. Would highly recommend to others.

Beautifully built, peaceful location, immaculate.

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautifully crafted and upscale. The pictures are good but the house is even better. The front door opens onto a large comfortable living room with soft, snuggly sofas. Beyond the living room is a dining room with a large table that will seat 8-10. On the table Charles had left us the information book as well as information/map of Yosemite. The kitchen is upscale and well stocked. On the left side of the living room is the entrance to the master suite with a comfortable king size bed, a dressing room area with closet, and a large bathroom (handicap accessible) with lovely tile work. Off the right of the living room are two bedrooms with a full bath between them. Perfect for a family. The linens were high quality and the towels were 5 star hotel quality. There is also a utility room off the dining room. Everything was spotless...not a speck of dust in sight. The appliances looked brand new and never used they were so clean. Most of the light switches were labeled so you didn't have to go around turning everything off and on to find what you needed. There is a hot tub, however, we never had the time or energy to use it after exploring Yosemite all day. Although only less than 30 miles from Yosemite, it does take an hour to get into the village. Charles gives you wonderful information about the best way to explore Yosemite, where to park, etc. Unfortunately, due to a lot of road construction in the village, the shuttle system was almost useless to us. After a frustrating first day, we decided to avoid the shuttle system. Hopefully the park will have that resolved soon. Mariposa is a lovely little town just beyond Midpines. Charles provides a map and menus in his information book. We had a great Mexican meal there and would have loved just a day to explore that town, but our trip was just not long enough. Charles sends you very descriptive and exact directions to their driveway, but we passed it anyway. You can't really see the small house number signs at the bottom of the drive when coming from Yosemite - a little easier coming from Mariposa - but he also gives you a landmark that you went too far so it was easy to turn around. It was just my husband and I so it was a lot of space for just 2 people, but more affordable that some of the hotels closer to the park.(and so much nicer). We would love to return with our grown children and grandkids. We would definitely stay here!

This property will exceed the expectations of the most fastidious traveller. Charles the host has an encyclopaedic knowledge of Yosemite and its surrounds. His suggestion to view the sunset at Glacier Point was surely inspirational. Afterwards lounge in the spa whilst looking up at the Milky Way and sink a cold beer. It couldn't get any better.
