London Vacation Flat
First the pluses to our stay: 1) Melanie, the owner, is super sweet. Quick to respond to questions. Very helpful in providing interesting things to do, where to eat and where to get supplies close to the flat. Reached out to help in any way possible. 2). Location is very convenient. Easy for us to get to and from Heathrow Airport using public transportation. Also the Imperial Wharf overground station is super close. This connects quickly to other lines to get everywhere. 3). Flat is clean and well stocked with flatware and cooking supplies. Shower has good flow and hot water was never an issue.
A few improvement suggestions and slight negatives: 1). Bedrooms on busy street and close to overground station which leads to a bit of noise. Windows must stay open to stay cool so can’t eliminate the sounds. Got used to it quickly. 2). Furniture a bit worn and could be more comfortable.
Overall, for my wife and I, the good outweighed the bad. The convenience of the location and friendliness of our host, Melanie, overshadowed the minor issues.
Too hot during a heat wave (and VRBO would not let me click ‘not really’)
Melanie and her father were amazing and most helpful. The flat is located in a safe area and very close to the Overground stop.
That being said, our stay was during the heat wave and the flat was uncomfortably hot, so much so that we had very poor sleep. The windows only open to vent so there was little airflow even with the provided fans. Because the windows don’t open cooling with the night air was impossible . The inside temperature remained warmer than outside for our whole stay making us quite uncomfortable.
Likely you won’t experience this if you stay other than the heat of summer in which case you can disregard this negative review.
So sorry to hear you were not comfortable. London has been experiencing its hottest Summer in 50 years. We have now unlocked the windows so they open fully. My current guest who is staying a month says the flat is comfortable with the windows open wide and the fans on. My apologies again heatwaves tend to last no more than 2 days in England! This has been a most unusual Summer!!
Convenient & quiet
Apartment was as described. We had a wonderful visit to London and surrounding area. We really loved catching a World Cup game in a pub.
Thank you so much for your review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. It was wonderful to have you stay. We hope to welcome you back in the future.
We had a wonderful time during our stay. The flat is conveniently located next to Imperial Warf Station and has a taxi stand just outside the door. Both are a short trip into London. There is a great walking area along the Thames nearby. The Tesco across the street makes staying at the flat more convenient.
Great Apartment with plenty of space for our family of 4
We had a lovely stay in Fulham with heaps of travel options at our doorstep, a Tesco’s right across the road and Sainsbury’s a short walk away. It was a perfect location for us to walk to Stamford Bridge to watch Chelsea play, which was one of our main factors when selecting an apartment. The apartment itself had everything we needed for our 2 week stay including lots of extras such as books, board games, movies and a Wii (very popular with the kids!) The kitchen was fitted out well, plenty of linen, great to have a washing machine, we were able to cook our own Christmas dinner and the apartment was extremely warm for Australians visiting in winter. Melanie was extremely helpful in the lead up to our arrival and we would certainly recommend this apartment and stay here again.
A great place to feel like a local
The apartement was just what our family of four (mom, dad and two teenagers) needed! It was clean and comfortable and the Tesco just across the street is perfect for grabbing something for breakfast or a late supper. The location is great! The overground is literally 30 seconds away. Or if you prefer, it's a lovely 7 minute walk to Fulham-Broadway Underground. After full-on days of sightseeing, it was great to get away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown core and into a neighbourhood where you sensed people actually live. And don't forget to take a stroll along the river! Thanks to Mel and especially her dad for waiting for us to arrive after our much-delayed flight from Toronto.
Imperial Wharf is a fabulous riverside development in central London. It is 5 mins walk from the famous Kings Road Chelsea with it's famous antique emporiums, Lots Road Antique Auctions and the fabulous fashion shops and boutique. Manola Blahnik shoe shop is a 10 minute walk away on Old Chuch Street. There is a wide choice of restaurants a stone throw away and the famous 606 jazz club is just up Lots Road. The Saatchi Gallery, the National Army Museum and Carlyle House are all walking distance. There is a boat river service 2minute walk away. The flat is close to Earls Court and Olympia stadium -5 minutes away from Imperial Wharf station.
The decorative arts Design Centre in Chelsea Harbour is 2 minute walk away.
The Westfield Shopping centre is just 8 minutes away on train from Imperial Wharf station, there is a large cinema complex there and at Fulham Broadway station too.
