Beautiful home with amazing views
This home is gorgeous inside out, with spectacular views of the mountains. We only wish that the fireplace was functional. It does say in their description that it’s not. We gave four stars because when we arrived the place was cold 54°F. It takes a long time to warm up this size house, I wish it was warm when we arrived. Other than that everything is perfect!
Majestic Views, especially when a thunder storm rolls into the Valley.
Beautiful cabin, nicely set at the very top of the mountain. Wonderful views of the entire Appalachian and Smokey mountain ranges. Great sunrise and sunsets!
The only disappointment was discovering an inoperable fireplace and no fire pit on property.
Would definitely rent again, and now, actually looking at purchasing land in that area, after our stay.
Great cabin, but...
This cabin was absolutely beautiful! Pictures do not do the view justice!! We loved all the personal touches! I even mentioned we should have a friends weekend up there soon. With that being said, we will NEVER stay here again due to "Appalachian Land Company"! We checked in late which went smoothly receiving our keys in a lock box. However, the next morning when we went to use the restroom the water would not come on. Being a homeowner we completely understand that these things happen. So we called William, a contact listed on our welcome packet, who assured us that he would work on the issue, and call us back with an update. We waited an hour for him to call back, and finally we got on the phone and called him again just wanting an update. He sent us to voicemail 3 times, so we called the second number on the contact list. The second number went to the Secretary, who then transferred us to William. My husband asked for an update, explaining it was our last full day of our honeymoon. We wanted to get an idea if this was a quick fix, something that's happened before, or if we needed to look into other options for somewhere to use facilities. At this point William said he was very busy, and instructed us to knock on a neighbors door to have him help if we wanted to speed up the process. When my husband responded that he wasn't comfortable with that, and didn't feel like it was our place to be knocking on doors to get water working, William became defensive. He was extremely rude and argumentative stating we only gave him 15 minutes before calling back. At that point we felt displaced, not knowing when the issue would even be addressed, and respectfully asked if we could check out a day early. We packed up our things and straightened the cabin as expected. We dropped the keys off at "Appalachian Land Company" where we picked them up, and tried to speak to them in person. The only thing we wanted was to be reimbursed for the 2nd night we would not be staying. They explained to us that the owners would expect money for the second night so they couldn't do that, but they would speak to them, and follow up with us after getting a plumber out. I'm not surprised that we never heard from them again, and I'm writing this review in hopes that the owner will know the situation. Simply treating people right goes a long way. They not only took and kept our money for a service they did not provide, they also prevented us from ever wanted to do business again.
We're sorry for the upset this caused during your honeymoon, and for not notifying you right away about your refund. Our communication with you wasn't up to our usual high standard. We sent you a refund check as soon as possible after we verified the problem. The HOA immediately made the necessary repairs. Please be assured your experience is not the norm for us and we've put additional procedures in place to make sure our guests have a better experience if a situation like this happens again. We very much appreciate you booking with us, and hope you will consider us for future travels.
The cabin is beautiful! We stayed for a few days with our kids and we're already planning our next trip back.
You Have No Idea What Awaits!!!!!
Where to begin? The pictures do it some justice but to experience it is the difference. First, Marianne the owner, is an absolute delight! You can tell the cabin is made available by her, with her own standards of what she would expect (which is so rare and incredibly appreciated!!!). It’s beyond well-appointed! You just won’t want to leave the home to visit all that the quaint town of Murphy offers. The views are JAW-DROPPING! We are avid cabin visitors, especially during the holidays and we have never had the view that this home offers. The drive up is amazing on the paved roads, too! So much beauty! Everything we needed to make meals with, we had and then some. There are grocery stores about 20 minutes away, as well as restaurants and shops. But again, you will not want to leave this home! We were visited each morning and afternoon, by a large herd of Deer, which was awesome if you aren’t used to seeing them. So cool! There is way more room in this cabin than our family of 4 knew what to do with, too! But our kids absolutely loved their stay. This Home and all that it offers, is well beyond compare! We cannot thank you enough and will absolutely rent from you again!!!! Your home made our Christmas all that much more amazing, Marianne!!! God Bless you!
Thank you for the wonderful review. We’re thrilled you enjoyed your stay at Bear Bunker Lodge! While not the owner, Marianne is part of a property management team that’s dedicated to ensure every stay is as great as yours was! We hope to see you again soon!
Stunning & Cozy Cabin at the Top of the Mountain!
My husband and I enjoyed 4 nights here unwinding and taking in the mountain air. The cabin is very well stocked with mostly everything you would need. Close to Murphy, Blue Ridge and Blairsville. We really enjoyed the comfort of the cabin form the master bedroom, to the loungers downstairs, as well as the upstairs area dining/kitchen area. The only thing that we were bummed about was the fireplace not working. It would have really topped they stay off to have a fire as the temperatures dropped each night. If we could give any other reviews it would be higher quantity and quality of bath towels and kitchen hand towels. Also, to the ladies, bring your hairdryer as there is not one in the cabin. Other then these small details we would HIGHLY reccomend Bear Bunker Lodge to everyone!
