Secluded architect-built eco-home, with beach and surf within 10 minutes walk
About Perry Besterman
Perry, the owner, was born and brought up in Porthcothan. Trebears has been in the family for five generations. Perry is a trained artist, environmentalist, wife, mother and grandmother.
Why Perry Besterman chose Saint Merryn
The first Trebears was built by Perry's grandfather in 1925. Her father and mother farmed at Trebears from the 1930s to the 1970s and Perry lived in the house for most of her childhood. She and her husband, Tristram, rebuilt Trebears in 2013 as an eco-home, carefully preserving the old orchard planted by her grandfather. The mature trees that encircle the grounds provide shelter for people to enjoy and a microclimate for nature.
What makes this House unique
This well designed comfortable and spacious home is a perfect holiday retreat for all the family. The gardens are private and the beach within easy walking distance. It is wonderful to leave the car behind and come and go to the beach on foot or have a lovely walk, straight from our gate, without the need to go on the road. The unspoiled National Trust headland provides amazing walks along the coast path with stunning views in both directions where there is a wealth of wildlife to enjoy; flowers, butterflies and birds. We work closely with the RSPB and the National Trust on these cliffs to protect rare species.

Ideal Home in more ways than one!
High quality Eco Home, suitable for large or small families, ideal for those with young children/toddlers, with stairgates available and toilet steps. The location is also perfect, with a superb beach complete with a stream for playing in, rock pools, surf for body boarding and a great expanse of sand.
The house is south-facing, so gets the sun when it’s out- which it occasionally was during our stay - and there is a lovely garden with grassy area for the children to play in.
Reminder-don’t forget you need to bring your own sheets to this holiday home-as stated in the details. Tesco’s is in Padstow if you do!
Only 4 stars for check in as HomeAway relies on a strange system which involves you logging in every time you get a message. You also need a sizeable refundable deposit of £250 which is the first time we have ever had to do this.
