About Pam Oakes
We are Steve and Pam Oakes from West Chester, Ohio. Steve is a retired police sergeant from our local police department and Pam works as a sales associate and buyer for Welling & Co. Jewelers. We have been enjoying Dale Hollow Lake and the area for close to 40 years. Dale Hollow is our "happy place". Our children have grown up enjoying all of the beauty that the lake and surrounding areas have to offer. We couldn't ask for a better place to gather with family and friends.
Why Pam Oakes chose Pickett County
Steve's father purchased the property in 1999 and has passed it down to Steve with the hope that our family will continue to enjoy for generations to come. The Oakes is one of three rentals on our Oakes Lane property. Feel free to spread out with additional family and/or friends and visit The Bear's Den #860621 and/or Anchors Aweigh #885024. Oak Hill Road is a beautiful, scenic, peaceful area of the lake. We hope you and your family will enjoy as much as we have.
What makes this Mobile Home unique
Enjoy the peaceful, park like setting of the property and the beautiful views along Oak Hill Road. We are fortunate to be a 4 mile/10 minute drive to either Star Point Resort or Eagle Cove Marina. Not only do you have the incredible lake to enjoy but there are several other activities close by including: hiking down to the lake from the end of Oak Hill Road, the Cordell Hull birthplace and museum, hiking at Bunkam Cave, and visiting area antique stores.

The Oakes, the Greatest
We couldn’t ask for better then Steve and Pam. Our plans changed while we were in town and they accommodated our changes without hesitation. The place was fully stocked with everything you need to cook with and we were able to bring our dogs. We will stay here again for sure! I could go on and on but I think you get the point. Thank you Steve and Pam. The Clipp’s
Salli: Thank you so much for the kind words. We appreciate you choosing to stay in The Oakes and taking such good care of the place. We would love that have you back any time. Kind regards, Pam and Steve
Wonderful and Relaxing
Steve and Pam were very kind to allow to stay in their home while we were at DHL. The house was very nice and clean. We enjoyed being able to kick back after a full day of sight seeing. Would recommend this house and will be staying there again. Thank you Pam and Steve!!
Beautiful home and lovely surroundings
We were running from hurricane Irma and needed somewhere to stay last minute. The owner was beyond accommodating! The property is beautiful and for a small town there is a lot to do! We hiked to the cave two days in a row, and walked to the lake one day, both were beautiful. The restaurants in town were very good and made a nice change from chain restaurants! There is a nice little grocery store just up the road that had everything we needed to cook dinner and breakfast too. We had fires nightly and made smores and there was plenty of room by the cabin for our kids to run around. We hope to return in February and will definitely be staying here again. Thank you!!
Thank you for taking the time to share yours thoughts about your stay. I hated to learn about the reason behind your stay but was glad to offer a place that brought a little peace from such a stressful time in your lives. We would love to have all of you back another time and ynder different circumstances.
Kindly, Pam and steve
beautiful natural setting and well maintained with everything we needed!
Thanks so much for a great place to stay while at the lake! Loved listening to the tree frogs on the screened in porch and the lake-themed decor. We were very impressed that Steve was able to send someone out right away to fix a minor problem. The king-sized bed was more comfortable than mine at home! The kitchen was well-appointed and everything was clean throughout. Highly recommend!
Thank you Laura! It means so much to know that our efforts show. We appreciate you staying in The Oakes and for taking the time to share your thoughts. We'd love to have you back anytime. Kindly, Pam and Steve
Nicely Decorated, Comfortable Place, Limited parking
We stayed a couple nights here. I LOVED the decorations!!! It was cozy and comfortable with lots of space! Beds were comfortable and we slept well. The parking is limited, if you have a boat it's not convenient. We did not bring a boat so was fine for us. We did get a call from the owner after we left asking if "something had exploded" near the main entrance. I had no idea what he was talking about. My husband said there were some outside stains on the trailer prior to us entering... I guess that's what the owner was talking about but it was a weird phone call and we felt like we were being accused of something we did not do... He ultimately apologized and stated maybe it was there before us, which whatever it was, it was def there before our arrival... I would say the owner or cleaning personnel need to be more detailed in their focus to ensure the correct people are blamed for any damages.
Very nice little place......enjoyed our stay
We loved our stay and will rent from you again :)
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We appreciate it. She glad you enjoyed The Oakes and look forward to having you back. Kindly, Pam and Steve
One of two homes available on our Oakes Lane property. If additional space is needed please visit The Bear's Den at VRBO #860621. The area has so much to offer for boaters as well as non-boaters. Enjoy the beauty and nature that the lake and surrounding area has to offer. We are conveniently located directly between Star Point Resort and Eagle Cove Marina. The Cordell Hull birthplace and museum and Bunkam Cave (100' wide and 30') are a short drive and across the road from each other on Cordell Hull Road. The walk/hike back to the cave is beautiful and the cave is fascinating. If you enjoy antiquing, take a 30 minute drive to Livingston and walk the shops in the downtown square. The J & B Stuff store on highway 111 is also an interesting store to shop/visit.
